Technologické parametry elektrojiskrového řezání drátovou elektrodou / Technological parameters of the spark erosion cutting with a wire electrode

Sámelová, Vendula January 2009 (has links)
The work deals with the technology of electrical discharge machining using a wire electrode. Described are machines, tools, wire electrode cutting parameters and advantages of this technology. The aim of the work is to quantify the cutting area with respect to dimensional accuracy, make an analysis of surface layer state and quality after wire cutting, and describe factors affecting this layer. In particular, emphasis is put on tool steel cutting.

Kamerový systém při drátové elektroerozi / Camera system with wire EDM

Gvizd, Michal January 2015 (has links)
The thesis discusses an unconventional technology of wire-cut electro discharge machining. In the beginning there is a description of the basic principle, the fundamentals of electro discharge machining and its technological application. Further chapters characterise the wire-cut electro discharge machining, the wire electrodes used, the main parts of the machine, the cutting conditions and the advantages of this technology. The practical part is focused on the possibilities of the camera system during the production on a wire cutting machine and the comparison of nowaday´s machines in the manufacture of precise cutting tools in the middle-sized tool-room.

Aplikace elektroerozivního obrábění v kombinaci s frézováním / Application of EDM in combination with milling

Drmela, Radim January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis is notionally divided into three parts. The first literature search part deals with the electronic discharge machining. The second main part solves the problem of machining plungers (movable part of the injection mold). This part also includes a technological process including production instruction cards. There are also calculated costs of production for this diploma part. The last part compares applications of electronic discharge machining technology with applications of milling technology.

Dynamic Body Armor Shape Sensing Using Fiber Bragg Gratings and Photoassisted Silicon Wire-EDM Machining

Velasco, Ivann Civi Lomas-E 01 June 2021 (has links)
In this thesis, a method to improve survivability is developed for fiber Bragg gratings under high velocity impact in dynamic body armor shape sensing applications by encasing the fiber in silicone. Utilizing the slipping of the fiber within the silicone channel, a proportionality relationship between the strain of the fiber to the acceleration of the impacting projectile is found and is used to obtain the rate of the back-face deformation. A hybrid model is developed to handle errors caused by the stick-slip of the fiber by fitting an inverse exponential to stuck sections found in a captured strain profile and double integrated to transform the stuck section to its equivalent slipping. Displacement errors below 10% was achieved using the hybrid model. A graphical user interface with a step-by-step walkthrough and a fiber Bragg grating interrogation system was designed for test engineers to utilize this technology. Test engineers from the Army Test Center in Aberdeen, MD were trained on this technology and successfully captured and processed shots using this technology. A method for cutting Silicon through wire-EDM machining is developed by utilizing the photoconductive properties of Silicon. Cut rates for unilluminated and illuminated Silicon was compared and a 3x faster cut was achieved on the illuminated cuts.

Peace, Love, Unity, Respect, and Gender: Analyzing Gender at Raves

Rivera, Zoriliz 05 1900 (has links)
Doing, undoing, and redoing gender debates have established the omnirelevance and performativity of gender. Yet, little is known about the ways that individuals "do" gender in spaces that provide the opportunity for norms to be disrupted, such as subcultures. This study offers an empirical investigation into the performance of gender within the subculture known as EDM (electronic dance music) culture. Using 20 in-depth interviews that were conducted virtually, I analyze the way ravers experience and give meaning to gender within the EDM culture. I find that individuals within the EDM culture can participate in the doing, undoing, and redoing of gender and do so through the embodiment of their subcultural beliefs and ideology, known as PLUR (peace, love, unity, and respect). I argue that the embodiment of PLUR is gendered, and describe the body-reflexive practices that are associated with PLUR.

Acoustic Emission Mapping of Discharges in Spark Erosion Machining

Smith, Craig 04 1900 (has links)

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a non-conventional machining process utilizing a series of electrical discharges to melt and vaporize workpiece material. In a wire EDM configuration wire breakage is a limiting factor in the machining productivity during the machining of workpieces with varying heights. Present methods of estimating workpiece height on-line in an effort to optimize machining parameters monitor the electrical signals for changes which may not be completely indicative of a change in workpiece height. This thesis intends to utilize acoustic emission (AE) sensors as a method for mapping the discharge location in order to estimate the workpiece height. This represents a novel approach as acoustic emission testing, while prevalent in the process monitoring of numerous conventional machining processes has yet to be significantly studied in combination with EDM.

Another useful application of AE sensors with the EDM process under consideration is during the fast hole EDM process, where excessive wear is seen in the electrode causing true electrode length to remain uncertain. By using acoustic emission sensors to determine the true length of the electrode it could be possible to aid in the breakout detection of the electrode.
/ Master of Applied Science (MASc)
