An investigation of the records kept by supervisors on construction sitesAssadi, Sami Omar Ali January 1997 (has links)
During the execution of a project constructed under the traditional contractual system, separate sets of site records are typically kept by each team of the two main parties on the construction site: the contractor, and the supervisor who looks after the client's interests. While the contractor's prime concern is to construct the project in accordance with the contract documents, one of the site supervisor's main functions is to keep a good record of what actually takes place during the construction process. Identifying the contractor's ability to complete the project on time, confirming that works are carried out correctly, and dealing with contractor's claims, are some instances where site records are likely to be used. It is therefore very important that the record-keeping system adopted by the supervising team provides detailed information in a readily-accessible format to ensure that facts can be established at any time during the construction period, or years later, when disputes may develop. This research programme studied the nature of existing site records kept by construction supervisors, to identify the types of records kept, the use made of them, and the problems and difficulties encountered in maintaining such records. It concentrated mainly on records of progress of construction works. The methodology adopted for undertaking this research, apart from reviewing the relevant literature, involved carrying out preliminary studies and conducting a national survey. The preliminary investigation comprised two studies as follows:• Studying site records kept on a project under construction. • Studying a set of site records kept on a completed project. The national survey, using mailed questionnaires, aimed at determining attitudes held and procedures currently adopted in the site record-keeping process in order that the present state of the art might be determined. The data gathered from the survey, in addition to resolving the research aims and objectives, has been used to investigate a number of assertions made regarding particular areas of construction supervisors' site records. The research findings revealed that the typical set of site records kept by construction supervisors is deficient in a number of respects. Various problems and difficulties relating to the procedures currently adopted by site staff have been identified which will typically affect the quality of these records and hence limit their value. If records are to be more useful, they must be more accessible and this suggests an increasing use of computers. With information held electronically in an organised system, the problems of accessibility should be reduced considerably. In addition to the general conclusions, a number of recommendations to improve site records have been made, including elements of quality procedures for record-keeping, and the potential use of an electronic diary software as a valuable tool for computerising one of the most important sources of site records.

Elektroninio dienyno įvedimo mokyklose įtakos organizacinių procesų efektyvumui tyrimas / Introduction of electronic diaries and research of its impact on organizational processes efficiency in secondary schoolsKuzminskis, Saulius 17 June 2013 (has links)
Vis daugiau procesų perkeliama į elektroninę erdvę ̶ tokia tendencija neaplenkė ir Lietuvos mokyklų. Šiame darbe pristatoma problema apžvelgiant situaciją vienoje Kauno gimnazijų, kur remiantis kitų mokyklų praktika, Europos Sąjungos nuorodomis ir Lietuvos Respublikos įstatymais, buvo įdiegtas elektroninis dienynas. Skirtingai nei elektroninės komercijos atveju, skaitmenizavus dienyną, tiesioginę įtaką organizacinių procesų efektyvumui išmatuoti yra sunku tiek dėl ankstesnių tyrimų trūkumo, tiek ir trūkstant visuotinai priimtinos praktikos. Praeitais metais pasiūlytas efektyvumo tyrimo būdas šiame darbe analizuojamas, remiantis H. Leavitt bei J. Gaskin modeliais, aiškinančiais technologijos įtaką kitiems organizacijos komponentams, šią įtaką matuojant našumo, produktyvumo, kokybės ir nuoseklumo dimensijose. Sekančiame skyriuje pristatomi moksliniai tyrimo metodai, tarnausiantys duomenų rinkimui, analizei ir rezultatų apibendrinimui. Vėliau pristatomas praktinis tyrimo modelis, aiškinami jo taikymo metu gauti rezultatai. Darbo pabaigoje pateikiamos išvados ir perspektyvos. / The tendency of moving business processes to electronic environment is also adopted in Lithuania schools. In this article the problem of e-diary usage will be presented, describing situation in one of Kaunas gymnasium‘s, where e-diary was introduced, based on a practice of other schools, Europe Union policies and The Republic of Lithuania’s law. While you can measure effectiveness of e-commerce in businesses, it‘s difficult to do the same with the introduction of e-diary in schools, both due to the lack of previous research as well as lack of widely-used practice for this matter. Recently published method for measuring e-diary’s efficiency of school‘s organizational processes is analyzed in this work, using theoretical models of H. Leavitt and J. Gaskin. Based on these models the influence of e-diary system on other organizational components is analysed, while measuring this influence in terms of productivity, efficiency, quality and consistency. In this work there a description of scientific research methods is presented, with explanation how the chosen methods are used for collection of data, analysis and generalization from results.

Decision Support for Treatment of Patients with Advanced Parkinson’s Disease / Beslutsstöd för behandling av patienter med avancerad Parkinsons sjukdomWestin, Jerker January 2010 (has links)
The overall aim of this thesis was to develop, deploy and evaluate new IT-based methods for supporting treatment and assessment of treatment of advanced Parkinson’s disease. In this condition a number of different motor and non-motor symptoms occur in episodes of varying frequency, duration and severity. In order to determine outcome of treatment changes, repeated assessments are necessary. Hospitalization for observation is expensive and may not be representative for the situation at home. Paper home diaries have questionable reliability and storage and retrieval of results are problematic. Approaches for monitoring using wearable sensors are unable to address important non-motor symptoms. A test battery system consisting of both self-assessments of symptoms and motor function tests was constructed for a touch screen mobile phone. Tests are performed on several occasions per day during test periods of one week. Data is transmitted over the mobile net to a central server where summaries in different symptom dimensions and an overall test score per patient and test period are calculated. There is a web application that graphically presents the results to treating clinical staff. As part of this work, a novel method for assessment of spiral drawing impairment useful during event-driven sampling was developed. To date, the system has been used by over 100 patients in 10 clinics in Sweden and Italy. Evidence is growing that the test battery is useful, reliable and valid for assessment of symptoms during advanced Parkinson’s disease. Infusion of a levodopa/carbidopa gel into the small intestine has been shown to reduce variation in plasma drug levels and improve clinical response in this patient category. A pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic model of this intestinal gel infusion was constructed. Possibly this model can assist the process of individualization of dosage for this treatment through in numero simulations. Results from an exploratory data analysis indicate that severity measures during oral levodopa treatment may be factors to consider when deciding candidates for infusion treatment.

Časomíra letu v ultralehkém letadle/vrtulníku / Flight Timer in Ultramicro Aircraft/HelicopterŠiroký, Adam January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with the development of embedded system for ultra light airplanes and helicopters. The aim is to design a system which would allow to measure and record the length of individual flights. It is therefore an onboard electronic diary which should facilitate and streamline the administration associated with sport aircraft operation. The base of the system is created on microcontroller of the MSP430 family by Texas Instruments. A reader will be offered the used hardware, the system design, the way of function and the possibility of using of the suggested system.
