This thesis examines the visionary writings of Elisabeth of Schönau, a nun of Schönau monastery, which was a double house in the diocese of Trier between 1152 and 1165. I argue that Elisabeth’s works dynamically engaged various religious audiences (monastic and clerical) in order to provide spiritual guidance to diverse types of people (monks, nuns, abbots, abbesses, and clerics). Elisabeth’s writings not only represent the self-reflection of a twelfth-century woman visionary, but also demonstrate the ways in which Elisabeth forged her spiritual authority by reacting to, and at times anticipating, the reception of her visions by her community. While Elisabeth rhetorically described herself as a passive receptor of divine knowledge, she actively worked to shape the practice of worship first within her monastic community and then, once her authority grew beyond Schönau, amongst a wider audience.

This master thesis is about one of the first female in the Swedish Parliament, Elisabeth Tamm (1880–1958), and her political articles in the magazine Tidevarvet. The aim of this study is to find similarities with Tamm’s political thoughts with the Ecofeministic theory. Due to women’s right to vote 1919 women citizenship was in a political debate. Tamm was one of many speakers and she combine the question with the Swedish agriculture and farming. Ecofeminism generally believe that women and nature are subordinate by the capitalist, patriarchal and Western society. This master thesis examine the degree to which Tamm’s political view coincides with the Ecofeministic perspective. The results which have been obtained through this study are that Tamm share a lot of the Ecofeministic view points and was before her time with these ideas. She also has the same belief concerning women and nature subjugation. The main difference between Ecofeminism and Tamm is the view of nature; Ecofeminism perceive nature as its own subject and not for human to control while Tamm view nature as something which human shall cultivate and cherish for future generations.   This study gives contribution to new knowledge for different interested parties. Ecofeminism is relatively new in science and I hope this conducted thesis has usability and will open up for future research and learn people of today more about our idea of nature and gender.

Stefanie Reinhold schildert die Geschichte der Elisabeth von Rochlitz und greift damit das Leben einer zentralen weiblichen Akteurin in der Reformationszeit des Raums Südwestsachsen auf.

Herzogin Elisabeth von Sachsen, geborene Landgräfin von Hessen (1502–1557), gehört in die Reihe der bedeutendsten Fürstinnen und Fürsten des Reformationszeitalters. Als Schwiegertochter Herzog Georgs des Bärtigen lebte sie von 1517 bis 1537 am streng altgläubigen Dresdner Hof, wo sie sich seit Mitte der zwanziger Jahre der lutherischen Lehre zuwandte und deshalb verstärktem Druck ausgesetzt war. Rückhalt fand Elisabeth bei ihren lutherischen Verwandten, Landgraf Philipp von Hessen und Herzog/Kurfürst Johann Friedrich von Sachsen. Der in weiten Teilen überlieferte Briefwechsel der Herzogin Elisabeth gilt vor allem diesen beiden Adressaten. In ihrer inhaltlichen Dichte, ihrer thematischen Vielschichtigkeit und ihrer Sprachgewalt gehört die Korrespondenz der Herzogin Elisabeth zu den anregendsten und materialreichsten persönlichen Zeugnissen der Reformationszeit und bietet überdies einen außergewöhnlichen Einblick in weibliche Lebenswelten der Frühen Neuzeit. Die vorliegende Edition umfasst die Jahre 1505 bis 1532 und enthält neben der Korrespondenz der Herzogin auch umfangreiche ergänzende Quellen und Materialien zum Leben der jungen Elisabeth.

Denna uppsats undersöker hur den kristologi som kommer till uttryck i Elisabeth Ohlson Wallins fotoutställning Ecce Homo kan förstås i relation till det kristologiska projekt som artikulerats av Marcella Althaus-Reid. Undersökningen sker i två steg där Althaus-Reids kristologi först rekonstrueras utifrån de texter i hennes författarskap som tydligt behandlar ämnet, varefter en serie bildanalyser görs av fem fotografier ur Ecce Homo. Studien visar att både Althaus-Reids texter och Ecce Homo innehåller inte en utan flera olika kristologier. De kristologier som uttrycks i Ecce Homo visar sig på många sätt överensstämma med Althaus- Reids kristologiska strävanden, samtidigt som Ohlson Wallins och Althaus-Reids projekt skiljer sig åt på väsentliga punkter, framförallt vad gäller bredd och metodologiska/tematiska ingångar. Medan Althaus-Reids kristologi förstås som intersektionell och alltså som berörande flera olika maktordningar visar sig Ecce Homo framförallt tematisera icke- heterosexuell erfarenhet i relation till Kristus.

I denna uppsats undersöks hur sorg skapas och uttrycks i diktsamlingarna Det här är hjärtat av Bodil Malmsten och Nattliga samtal av Elisabeth Rynell. Utifrån en teori om att känslor skapas i en kontakt mellan subjekt och objekt framgår det i undersökningen att diktjagen i respektive diktsamling uttrycker och hanterar sorgen på olika sätt. Diktjaget i Det här är hjärtat är statiskt och kommer aldrig ur sorgen medan diktjaget i Nattliga samtal är dynamiskt och går vidare ur sorgen. / This essay examines how grief is created and expressed in the poetry collections Det här är hjärtat by Bodil Malmsten and Nattliga samtal by Elisabeth Rynell. Based on a theory that emotions are created in a contact between subject and object, it appears in the survey that narrator in each collection of poems expressing and handles grief differently. The narrator in Det här är hjärtat is static and will never come out of grief while the narrator in Nattliga samtal is dynamic and moves on from sorrow.
