The more certain and clear working scope the more serious price competition of industrial tender, since the clients who released the tenders have became wiser with learned experiences and available information of industry year-by-year. Such facts of tender not only cripple the bidding advantage but also shrink the profit expectation of stakeholders for scale companies which structured with huge organization and indirect cost burden, and impact the further business operation.
Whatever the cut of won tender price, the project team which in charge of project realization usually chanceless to involve the marketing activities in advance under structure process. However, as the information receiver from the client during realization practically, the project team shall forward any above information and cope with the marketing team to break through current passive tendering procedure and construct better solution to the industrial clients.
A ¡§project marketing¡¨ based procedure according to the characters of project team which merged project management with marketing activities has been proposed and suggests project team shall planning appropriate marketing strategies and activities before certain and clear requirements releasing by client to enhance the marketing effectiveness and achieve the opportunities.
Such a procedure is initiated by identifying the impacted KPI with causes of project team and gathering the related information from clients, then find out the competitive markets and establish suitable marketing strategies. It is helpful for the project team to break away the traditional marketing predicament with systematic response to the opportunity changes of target markets.

The global semiconductor industry had gone through a consecutive years of prosperity in the 1990s due to the strong demand in personal computer as well as the enormous internet investiment. Even more, it gained an eruptive growth in years 1999 and 2000. The semiconductor fabrication companies¡¦ capital spending in new equipment segment grew year by year. The equipment suppliers¡¦ revenue and gross margin had then set record high. However, combined the internet bubbled in 2000 with the shortage of killer application, the chip makers¡¦ capital spending had thereafter dramatically slowdown for years and hence seriously impacted the equipment suppliers¡¦ financial performance.
Ever after the great recession in year 2000, the equipment suppliers have been taking steps to alleviate the industry downturns¡¦ impact in their financial report. Meanwhile, the companies have also identified ways to further grow their business. Besides, the semiconductor industry has been introducing advanced nanomanufacturing technologies which demand huge resource commitment as well as capital investiment. The chip makers have therefore urged the equipment suppliers to assist them in area about cost reduction and productivity improvement.
This study takes the world biggest semiconductor frabication equipment maker, Applied Materials, as an example, to investigate the company¡¦s strategically responsivenesses against the business cycles, the current industry environment and its desire in business growth. The conclusions are:
1)Applied Materials has been taking joint ventures, outsourcing and global development center establishments to reduce its operation cost. It had also entered the fab service market to create a new niche.
2)In response to the customers¡¦ demand in productivity improvement , Applied Materials has been activating differentiation strategies to develop high-productivity products. It has also been performing Continuous Improvement Plans (CIP) to further reduce its products¡¦ Cost Of Ownership (COO) to meet the customers¡¦ requirement in cost reduction.
3)The equipement suppliers have been conducting related constrained diversification strategies to extend their business scope. They mostly used the Mergers & Acquisitions to enter the new markets.
4)The strategy effectiveness (in view of the shareholders¡¦ return on investment), is positively related to its consistency with the company¡¦s core competencies. In other word, the higher the consistency is, the better the ROI will be.

<p><strong>Purpose</strong> – The purpose of this dissertation is twofold. First, to identify and design a theoretical model of different factors that are important when evaluating fast changing industry environment. Second, to conduct interviews designed after the model and determine what factors are important within the company’s specific industry.</p><p><strong>Design/methodology/approach</strong> – A range of published research literature on Industry environment such as clusters, innovation and hyper competition has been used in this thesis. Our main approach has been to follow Porter’s Five Forces Model and applying it on the modern IT-industry.</p><p><strong>Findings</strong> – This research identified three additional forces for evaluating industry environment, namely Innovation, Complementary product & Cooperation and Customer Readiness.</p><p><strong>Limitations</strong> – The research was limited to northeastern Öresundsregionen, Sweden. The interview questions where limited to pre-designed factors. </p><p><strong>Originality/value</strong> – The findings of this research provide the companies and researchers with a context for understanding this specific type of industry environment. It will also provide companies with a set of tools and best practices to apply when evaluating their own environment.</p>

The role of static, distal, and proximal antecedents in intimate partner violence: an application of the catalyst model of aggression and the IPV contextual frameworkReese, Laura Marie Schwab 01 August 2015 (has links)
Intimate partner violence (IPV), defined as psychological, physical, or sexual abuse within a current or former romantic relationship, has significant consequences for the health and well-being of men and women. Although there has been substantial research on IPV, much of the research has focused on risk and protective factors, and intervention activities for victims. A small body of research on perpetrators suggests the etiology of IPV perpetration is complex and multifactorial, but the dearth of research on perpetrators has resulted in a limited number of effective interventions for perpetrators of IPV. This dissertation contributes to the limited understanding of factors, especially modifiable risk and protective factors, associated with IPV perpetration, as informed by the Catalyst Model of Aggression and the IPV Contextual Framework. Improved understanding of modifiable risk and protective factors for IPV perpetration may inform the development of more effective intervention and prevention efforts.
Using the nationally-representative sample collected in The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, the dissertation examined factors associated with IPV perpetration, including static antecedents (factors that remain stable over time), distal antecedents (factors that occur prior to the time of perpetration) and proximal antecedents (factors that occur near the time of perpetration), and the interaction of static antecedents with distal and proximal antecedents. For this dissertation, static antecedents were operationalized as personality traits and three dopamine genes. Distal antecedents were operationalized as adolescent exposure to violence and school social environment. Proximal antecedents were defined as financial stressors and job satisfaction. Logistic regression and multinomial logistic regression were used to examine these relationships. All analyses were weighted and clustered to allow for population-level estimates and were stratified by gender and race.
My results suggest that personality, but not the three dopamine genes, was associated with IPV perpetration. There was some indication the genetic factors interact with environmental characteristics during adolescence and adulthood to increase the odds of perpetrating IPV during adulthood, in at least some circumstances and among some subpopulations. For example, there was a significant interaction between school social environment and genes among white men, white women, and non-white women. However, these relationships were not constant across strata and type of antecedent.
Overall, the practical implications of this dissertation are unclear. As the field of violence prevention continues to develop, additional research on the genetic contribution to IPV perpetration will contribute to our understanding of these findings and provide additional context on the biological mechanisms underlying these relationships. Additional context may also contribute to the understanding of how to best develop intervention and prevention activities for individuals with the highest level of risk for IPV perpetration. Ultimately, it may be possible to tailor pharmacological or behavioral interventions based on the individual static, distal, and proximal antecedents associated with perpetration.
