Considering the plot form, the character is resulted by the mixture of author-narrator, living the conflict of the fragmentation of his individuality. Basic theories had been supports for the revision of the narrative and character process: Mikhail Bakhtin, Walter Benjamin, besides the concept of imitation of Aristoteles, Antonio Candido, Brait, Schwartz, Muecke, Coast Young chicken, Massi and others. It also was necessary, by a comparative methodology, to approach some characteristics of two modern workmanships of Franz Kafka - Metamorphosis of 1915 and the Process of 1925, in order to give support to the characterization of the contemporary character in Estorvo. The first chapter A personagem-narrador em figuração focuses the character in the novel text and the essential narrative elements. It is discussed the taking of conscience of his unfinished individuality, living the dilemma of the dilution of his capacities, unknown to himself. The second chapter O Intertexto em Estorvo , points out some parallels between the characters, kafkiana and buarquiana, with the objective to create a methodological intertextuality of definition about his psychological and metaphorical characteristics. It is described some divergences and convergences that helps to characterize the points of view of the narrator-character in fusing of fragment selves broken up by the proper story in Estorvo, in functional duplicity: in time and space. The third chapter, O Cronotopo em Estorvo , uses the psychological and metaphorical concept of chronoscope under the transforming action of the irony, and the contamination of the character by the ambiguous performance of the narrator in first person which gives the disfigurement to the ironic character, between two consciences: individual and public / O objetivo desta dissertação é a leitura da personagem em Estorvo, de Chico Buarque, romance contemporâneo. Em forma de enredo, a personagem é resultado da mixagem autornarrador, vivendo o conflito da fragmentação de sua individualidade. Teorias fundamentais foram suportes da revisão do conceito do processo narrativo e de personagem: Mikhail Bakhtin, Walter Benjamin, além do conceito de imitação de Aristóteles, Antonio Candido, Brait, Schwartz, Muecke, Costa Pinto, Massi e outros mais. Fez-se necessário, por uma metodologia comparativa, aproximar algumas características de duas obras modernas de Franz Kafka Metamorfose de 1915 e O Processo de 1925, de modo a dar suporte à caracterização da personagem contemporânea de Estorvo. O primeiro capítulo intitulado A personagem-narrador em figuração tem por foco a personagem no texto romanesco e seus elementos essenciais narrativos. Discutimos a tomada de consciência de sua individualidade inacabada, vivendo o dilema da diluição de suas capacidades, por ela própria desconhecidas. O segundo capítulo intitulado O Intertexto em Estorvo, traçamos alguns paralelos entre as personagens, kafkiana e buarqueana, com o objetivo de criar uma intertextualidade metodológica de definição das suas características psicológicas e metafóricas. Chegamos a descrever algumas divergências e convergências que nos auxiliaram a melhor caracterizar os pontos de vista do narrador-personagem em fusão de Eus fragmentados pelo próprio relato em Estorvo, em duplicidade funcional: em tempo e espaço. O terceiro capítulo, com título O Cronotopo em Estorvo, faz uso do conceito de cronotopo psicológico e metafórico sob a ação transformadora da ironia, e a contaminação da personagem pela performance ambígua de narrador em primeira pessoa. What allows this analysis are the identification and study of the theoretical presuppositions of Stuart Hall, Linda Hutcheon, Néstor Canclini, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari that contextualize the contemporary man in his incompleteness and fragmentation, as well as those of Benedict Anderson and Homi Bhabha which deals with the construction of national representation as an imagined community. Through these theoretical lenses that will be done the analysis of the piecemeal marks that constitute the formation of identities, individual and cultural, of the characters that represent the man of late modernity and how it is possible to view the national representation in the contemporary texts Estorvo e Leite Derramado by Chico Buarque. / Este texto tem a pretensão de analisar a representatividade da formação identitária do sujeito pós-moderno, e da constituição da ideia de nação nas obras Estorvo e Leite Derramado de Chico Buarque. O que permite tal análise são a identificação e o estudo dos pressupostos teóricos de Stuart Hall, Linda Hutcheon, Nestor Canclini, Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari que contextualizam o homem contemporâneo em sua incompletude e fragmentação, bem como, as de Benedict Anderson e Homi Bhabha que tratam da construção da representação nacional como uma comunidade imaginada. Através destas lentes teóricas será feita a análise das marcas fragmentárias que constituem a formação das identidades, particulares e culturais, dos personagens que representam o homem da modernidade tardia e como é possível visualizar a representação nacional nos textos contemporâneosEstorvo e Leite Derramado de Chico Buarque.

O presente estudo se propõe a fazer uma leitura de três romances de Chico Buarque, Estorvo, Benjamim e Budapeste. Para tanto, foram selecionadas três categorias para análise – o narrador, o personagem e a sociedade –, que foram estudadas a partir da análise das narrativas e, paralelamente, de alguns textos teóricos. O objetivo principal é investigar a visão do autor acerca da sociedade brasileira urbana atual e, além disso, identificar características que indicam unidade na obra do romancista. Para a realização dessa investigação, os três aspectos selecionados foram analisados com base em textos de Theodor W. Adorno, Roberto Schwarz, Edu Teruki Otsuka, entre outros. Após as pesquisas, foi possível perceber que a obra literária de Chico Buarque, embora não deva e não possa ser limitada a uma mera tentativa de retratar as mazelas da vida urbana contemporânea, nos faz refletir sobre seus diferentes níveis e aponta para uma visão pouco otimista a respeito do destino da sociedade. Não se pode deixar de lembrar que, sendo a literatura atravessada pela história de seu país, não há possibilidade de dissociar a obra de ficção do processo social que lhe dá forma. E, assim, identificamos a posição de destaque de Chico Buarque no quadro da literatura brasileira atual. / The present study offers a close reading of three novels by Chico Buarque, Estorvo, Benjamim and Budapeste. So, three categories were selected to be analyzed – the narrator, the character and the society –, which were studied through narrative analysis and, in a parallel way, theoretical texts. The main objective is to investigate the author’s view towards the present urban Brazilian society and, besides, to identify features that could indicate unity in the novelist’s work. In order to accomplish that, the three selected aspects were analyzed based on texts by Theodor W. Adorno, Roberto Schwarz, Edu Teruki Otsuka, among others. The research made possible to see that Chico Buarque’s literary work, although it should not be limited to a mere attempt to picture the wounds of the contemporary urban life, makes us reflect upon its different levels and points to a not very optimistic view about society’s destiny. We must remember that, being the literature crossed by its country’s history, there is no possibility of dissociating a work of fiction of the social process that gives it form. And, consequently, we identify Chico Buarque’s distinctive position in Brazilian literature.
