Exercisers' Perceived Health, Goal Orientation, Physical Self-Perception and Exercise Satisfaction

Shakiba, Afshin January 2006 (has links)

The purpose of the study was two fold: a) to develop and to test the Perceived Health & Exercise Participation Profile (PH&EPP); b) to examine the relationship between exercisers’ perceived health, goal orientation, physical self perception and exercise satisfaction. The sample consists of 126 exercisers (43 Male, 83 Female with mean age 35.6 ± 9). The study included a new questionnaire - the Perceived Health & Exercise Participation Profile (PH&EPP) and three other instruments: 1) Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP); 2)Task & Ego orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ); and 3) Rosenberg's Self-Esteem (RSE) Scale. The data were analyzed through SPSS 13.0 using Alpha coefficient, test-rest reliability, bivariate correlation and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Cronbach’s Alpha was satisfied

( .70) at 5 of 6 subscales. The test-retest reliability reached to significant level (ranging from .43 to .76) for all subscales. The majority of PH&EPP’s subscales reached to significant correlations except Health and Exercise as Life Values. The Satisfaction with Health and Exercise Participation reached to significant correlations with all PSPP’s subscales, Task goal orientation, and RSE except Ego goal orientation. The Perception of Exercisers obtained significant correlations at 3 of 5 PSPP’s subscales. Exercisers indicated more task goal orientation than ego goal orientation. The results are discussed from the point of view of the Perceived Health and Sport/Exercise Participation model.

Krostitz, Silke, Fischer, Ralf, Bergfeld, Uwe 13 May 2008 (has links) (PDF)

Problematika výživy a dopingu v kulturistice a fitness / Issues of nutrition and doping in bodybuilding and fitness

Linhartová, Gabriela January 2020 (has links)
Title: The problems of nutrition and doping in bodybuilding and fitness Purposes: The aim of the thesis was to find differences in the area of nutrition and doping in condition fitness exercisers, active amateur competitors and professional athletes in bodybuilding and fitness, in the area of macro nutrients intake, drinking regimen, dietary supplements and abuse of doping. Methods: For the research, the qualitative method was chosen as a survey. The survey is divided into questions identifying information about problems of nutrition and doping. It contains a combination of open, closed and semi- closed questions. The selected set of examinations was a random sample of condition fitness exercisers, amateur and professional bodybuilding and fitness athletes. Results: The survey shows that although condition fitness exercisers perceive the optimal macronutrient and micronutrient intake, drinking regimen and dietary supplements as part of success in bodybuilding and fitness, their awareness and discipline do not reach the same level as competing respondents (amateurs and professional athletes). The diet of the competitors corresponds more with the recommendations in the literary sources. Minimal differences were found between the nutrition of condition fitness exercisers and athletes (amateur and...

ATIVIDADE ELÉTRICA DO MÚSCULO BUCINADOR ANTES E APÓS O USO DO EXERCITADOR FACIAL EM CRIANÇAS RESPIRADORAS ORAIS / ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY OF THE BUCCINATOR MUSCLE BEFORE AND AFTER THE USE OF FACIAL EXERCISER IN MOUTH BREATHING CHILDREN

Krob, Clarissa Flores Oliveira 18 July 2008 (has links)
This study aimed to analyse the changes occured in the buccinator muscles of mouth breathing children after using Facial Exerciser. Eight children aged between 06 to 11 years old with medical diagnosis of chronic mouth breathing were submitted to surface electromyographic evaluation during rest, sucking and blowing; previously to the beginning of therapy (T0) and approximately at 10 (T1) and 40 (T2) days of treatment. The results were quantified in RMS (root mean square) and shown in eV (microvolt). The normalized data were compared and statistically analysed through double ANOVA and ANOVA of Friedman, as well as the Tuckey Test. The results concerning buccinator muscle activity showed a tendency to decrease in the end of 40 days using the Facial Exerciser. There was an increase in the electrical activity average of both muscles, however statistically significant results were not found. The results were more expressive after the 10 days of treatment than after 40 days using the device, despite of not showing significant statistical difference. Based on these findings, it can be considered that the use of Facial Exerciser in mouth breathing children has cooperated with decreasing of buccinators muscles activity during rest position. During blowing there was an increase in the average of the activity in both muscles.
