Violência física familiar contra crianças e adolescentes: um recorte localizado / Family physical violence against children and adolescents: a localized cut

Camargo, Climene Laura de 29 November 1996 (has links)
This study aims to contribute for the comprehension o f the violence as a Public Health\'s problem. It was developed through a case study of familiar violence against children and adolescents aged from O to 18 years. It takes in account the cases which have occurred during the period from 1990 to 1993, in the city of Maringá-PR-Brazil. The identification o f the violence was done by a quantitative model, through the denounced cases in competent institutions. In a second step, the comprehension of the meaning of this kind of violence was searched through a qualitative approach. The techniques of interview and the association of images were used to verify which meaning the familiar physical violence has for the social actors who direct or indirectly felt this violence. Their justification to this kind of acts was also considered. It was observed that 63,8 per cent of the denounced cases are related to physical violence and that 48,2 per cent of that cases present the familiar physical violence. This data show that this violence appears mainly in ages from 12 and 15 years, where the father is the main aggressor and the mother and the victim are the main informers. It was also verified that the sort of violence varies according to the victim\'s sex and age. Either the victim or the aggressors assimilate the familiar physical violence as disciplinary practices. The violence is only identified by them as violence when it surpasses their parameters of normality, that seem to be related to the degree of violence they have suffered before.

Psicanálise e justiça criminal: questões e posicionamentos sobre uma clínica da violência doméstica / Psychoanalysis and Criminal Justice: questions and positions on a clinic service to domestic violence

Azevedo, Jose Eduardo Assunção 18 June 2008 (has links)
This paper presents speeches and reflections on implementation and development of a psychological clinic service to families in domestic violence situation users of JECRIFAM, institution of the Court of the Criminal Justice, in São Paulo. The reflection on path (way) gives recourses to debate some of the clinic listening device limits and potentials in Court of the Criminal Justice context, especially about domestic violence. This debate has a central question: Which listening fits on this context? (or: Which listening belongs to its context?) Parts of some cases are presented. A fields better understanding is also presented: the meeting to others institutional agents, the statistics and some questions about the citizen approaches to the Court of the Criminal Justice. There is a short debate on the psychoanalysis possible contributions on the contingencies of the exercise of citizenship rights, based on these presentations.

Abstract: This work aims to achieve a reading of the meanings of family violence in adolescent males, victims of physical violence exercised by the father, considering the psychic spaces. No. of bitstreams: 1 Eneida Regina Fabian Holzmann.pdf: 2741374 bytes, checksum: ae0f871c804d775d6600634740f46512 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-10-01 / This research investigates the process of construction of the situation of domestic violence, between men and women, in the marital relationship. It is guided by the National Policy to Combat Violence Against Women, directed by Law nº 11.340/6, Law Maria da Penha, which required the creation of a network of diversified and interdisciplinary services in the areas of security and justice, social services and health, supported by the Unified Health System (SUS). Based on the systemic vision, it has as general objective to investigate in what way the family and intergenerational perspective contributes to the construction of knowledge with women in situation of domestic violence and with their (ex-)partners. It discusses the importance of the development, by public services, of forms of intervention that enable users to be accommodated by other men and women with similar experiences. It conducts a qualitative study and content analysis from the co-constructed narratives with eight heterosexual ex-couples, in a process of five individual and group interviews with each participant, including the co-construction of the ex-couple’s double genogram. It presents the perception of women and their (ex-)partners about the violence experienced in the marital relationship, the perception about the family/ intergenerational experiences involved in the construction of domestic violence, as well as the driving forces for the rescue of the identity and for exiting this situation, related to the family life cycle and the marriage life cycle. In the systemic perspective, the analysis focuses on the communication process of the ex-couple; the repetition of familiar patterns of communication, affectivity and familiar functioning regarding the construction of boundaries between the subsystems of the family; the presence of marital and family myths. The experience of psychological violence in the relation of the woman interviewed with her mother and the affective distancing between the man interviewed and his father are present, in a significant way, in the narratives co-constructed in the study. This experience of chronic psychological violence with the mother, for the women, had its continuity in the marital relationship, in which they experienced the same feelings of helplessness, of worthlessness, of abandonment. Men, in turn, also in a significant group, reported experiences of affective distancing and/or abandonment by the father, revealing a feeling of helplessness. In the construction of knowledge from the family and intergenerational perspective, through the sharing of individual experiences in the interviews in separate groups, women and men expressed that the rapprochement with family history contributed to self-knowledge, to the reaffirmation of their identity, their own value and the value of the family, in addition to enabling the opening for new meanings for the experience of marital violence. As a methodological result, the research brings the proposal for the rescue of history and family forces for women and men in situation of domestic violence, using a new instrument, the double genogram of the ex-couple, as a possible form of intervention for the public network / Esta pesquisa investiga o processo de construção da situação de violência doméstica, entre homens e mulheres, na relação conjugal.

Relationship Transitions, Fatherhood, and the Prevention of Child Maltreatment

Schneider, William Joseph January 2016 (has links)
Child maltreatment is a prevalent and pernicious problem in the United States. In 2013, nearly 680,000 children were found to be victims of maltreatment, with actual instances of maltreatment likely significantly higher. Exposure to maltreatment has negative short and long-term impacts on child wellbeing and development. Poverty and single parenthood have long been shown to be primary determinants in the etiology of child maltreatment. Changes in family structure over the last 50 years have resulted in dramatic declines in the number of children who grow up in a two parent married household. Indeed, recent research indicates that large numbers of children will experience living with a single mother as well as experiencing multiple parental relationships throughout their childhoods. At the same time that non-marital relationships have become increasingly common, ideas about the role of fathers in parenting have changed as well. Traditional normative views of fathers as breadwinners have given way to an increased focus on the ways in which father involvement in parenting can influence positive child development. In contrast, research on child maltreatment has largely left the possible role of fathers in protecting against child maltreatment unaddressed. To date, little research has investigated the ways in which mothers’ relationship transitions, as opposed to static measures of marital status, might be associated with the risk for child maltreatment or how fathers’ involvement in parenting may buffer the risk for maternal child maltreatment.

Men's perceptions, experiences and responses to domestic violence: a comparative study of immigrant and South African men in the Johannesburg inner city

Njowa, Polite January 2016 (has links)
This report presents findings from a comparative qualitative study conducted in the Johannesburg inner city. The study sought to understand immigrant and South African heterosexual men’s perceptions, experiences, and responses to domestic violence. Drawing on social constructionist theory, the research investigates whether migration and nationality influenced how heterosexual men perceived, experienced, and responded to domestic violence. The study used qualitative methodology and relied on original empirical research. In total, participants (consisting of six immigrant and six South African men) were identified through purposive and snowballing sampling methods. Semi-structured interview guides were used to collect data, which was then analysed using thematic content analysis. Findings of the study revealed that migration influenced the way in which immigrant men experienced and responded to domestic violence in South Africa. However, migration did not have an impact on how immigrant men perceived domestic violence. This means that the ways in which immigrant men perceived domestic violence was the same as they perceived it in their home countries. However, the ways in which they were experiencing and responding to it in South Africa was different from the ways they used to experience and respond in their home countries (migrant sending countries). The South African participants did not attribute their perceptions, experiences and responses to migration. Instead, they attributed their experiences to the over insistence on rights by women, and the failure of law enforcement agencies to ensure that men who are victims of domestic violence are also heard. Findings also revealed that nationality differences between immigrant men and South African men did not influence the ways in which these two groups perceived and understood the term ‘domestic violence’. Thus, migrant men and South African men understood the term in the same way. The definitions of domestic violence that participants reported were different from the traditional definitions and categorizations of domestic violence. Participants defined domestic violence in accordance with their perceptions and experiences, as there was a thin line between perceptions and personal experiences. Further analysis showed that men understood domestic violence as being physical, emotional, and verbal. The findings of the study also revealed that immigrant men believed that their susceptibility to domestic violence was due to migration because of the perception that South African domestic violence legislation favours women. Furthermore, South African men attributed ‘favouritism on terms of the law’ towards women as an issue that made women take advantage of the policy framework to initiate violence towards their intimate partners. These men suggest that women do this in the knowledge that men are generally not believed when they (i.e. men) make reports of domestic violence.

The Gamer Who Destroyed the World and Other Stories from my Life

Steele, Samara Hayley 05 June 2014 (has links)
The Gamer Who Destroyed the World and Other Stories from my Life is the framework of a memoir about the extrapolation of utopic ideology upon bodies. It chronicles the author's life and lineage, examining themes of family, gaming, technology, gender, domestic violence, and economics. The memoir is divided into a prologue, three chapters, and an epilogue. The prologue is a scene depicting the teenaged author at a Live Action Role Play ("larp") game. The first chapter focuses upon the author's family history and her childhood experience of growing up in low-income housing in the 1990s, during which she creates meaning by working for money, until her childhood is disrupted by two expulsions: the expulsion of meaning from the "franchise" workplaces of her teens, and an abrupt expulsion from her childhood home. The second chapter flips between two realities: the author's anxiety as she struggles with homelessness while pushing herself through the American university system, and her adventures in the nerd subculture of the 2000s, focusing on her transition from cosplay (pretending to be fictional characters at genre conventions) to larp (pretending to be part of a fictional universe with others at a campground, dance club, or other physical location). The third chapter jumps forward to the authors' life in a Bay Area cooperative house during the Occupy Movement in 2011. The epilogue jumps back in time to 2006 to describe the author's final experiences larping, and the text concludes with her reflections on the concepts of consent and utopia.
