The Effect of Child Characteristics and Environmental Demands on Parenting Across Intact and Divorced Families: An Exploratory View

Stevenson, Jennifer L. 01 January 2007 (has links)
Minimal attention has been directed toward learning how children may influence parenting practices and styles within a divorce setting, and - more significantly - how children may influence the co-parenting practices and behaviors of divorced parents. The roles of child temperament, parenting, and their reciprocal interaction werereviewed as they relate to the development of externalizing and internalizing problems in childhood. Literature regarding the impact of divorce on the parent-child relationship was also discussed. A cluster analytic approach was utilized in order to identify three groups of individuals with internalizing, externalizing, and adaptive characteristics. Parenting features were then evaluated across both intact and divorced family settings to explore for any influence of the child and the environmental demands on parenting. Only one significant interaction was revealed between marital status and child characteristics in relation to maternal discipline. Significant findings were discussed within light of prior literature.

Luciano Bezerra da Silva 20 September 2010 (has links)
The Tiracanga Logradouro Settlement, located in the Canindà municipality, was created in 1989. The conquest of this territory parcel took place due to the fighting and resistance of peasants. The research goal of this work is to analyze the settlerâs territoriality process and how this territoriality is expressed in a settlement like the Tiracanga Logradouro, which is fragmented in CearÃÂs semiarid. The materialization of this study was based on on-field studies and the dialogues with peasant settlers, seeking to record the widest variety of aspects related to the peasantâs origins, their fight for land, their organizational situation and land use. For this purpose, participation in meetings with associations and groups of peasants was programmed and interviews with some of them in their residences, as well as with some peasant leaders were organized. Throughout the text, we search to overcome the division between formal and informal knowledge with regards to the speech of researched individuals. Bibliographic research on the subject was elaborated through books, theses, dissertations and the collection of data at the INCRA. The study revealed the organizational and settlement use strategies practiced by the peasants, including discussions on the use of their land parcel, in which agreements and disagreements amongst settlers appeared with regards to the adoption of this land exploitation model. It was concluded that families articulate the use of their land parcel based on familiar unit and the family nucleus and regain collective use as a strategy for family unit reproduction

Vliv některých rodinných okolností na využití volného času dítěte / Impact of Some Family Conditions on a Child´s Free Time Use

MORAVCOVÁ, Markéta January 2008 (has links)
This dissertation is focusing on definitions of some typical features of a family unit and its impact on their child´s free time use. These aspects are for e.g. completeness of the family, child´s status among their brothers and sisters, level of parents´ education and the social strata of parents. The dissertation is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the beginning of the theoretical part the question of family, definition according to the number of members, and other features implicated from the family status are being discussed. Second part concern the free time and children´s education out of school. The theory is followed by purely practical part of my dissertation in which I conduct a research. The main question for my research was if the above mentioned aspects of the family unit can have an impact on the way a child spends their free time. Results of this probe have been concluded and demonstrated by graphs and tables at the end of the dissertation.
