Implementation of land reform policies on model A1 farms in ZimbabweMoyo, Collen January 2017 (has links)
A research report submitted to the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management, University of
the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 50% fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of
Masters of Management (in the field of Public Policy).
February 2017 / The government of Zimbabwe embarked on a land redistribution programme at the turn of the twentieth century. The programme has been mired in controversy which has culminated in polarisation. The major objective of the land redistribution was to redress historical imbalances and to increase food security by increasing access to fertile and arable land to indigenous people. Due to lack of policy clarity and consensus, the programme has so far been a huge failure. This study sought to interrogate the policy implementation and how this had impacted on productivity on the A1 model of farming in Zimbabwe. Results showed that the programme was adversely affected by lack of political will and lack of policy clarity while it was clogged with political interference. The government had failed to provide sustainable funding to enhance productivity. This had led to despondency among civil servants and beneficiaries of the land reform programme. There is ineffective implementation of policy due to factors such as lack of experienced personnel and unavailability of funding. Polarisation has seen other key stakeholders shunning this programme. Under the prevailing socio-political environment, this programme is set to be an outright failure to enhance food security sustainability. The study unpacked valuable impediments which inevitably, were drivers of poor attainment of the objectives of model A1 farming in Zimbabwe. / MT 2017

Factors that Contribute to Success of Selected Farm Ownership Borrowers in UtahJensen, Grey M. 01 May 1954 (has links)
Farming is a complex business. Financial success in farming is influenced by the organization and operation of the farm unit. The principal problem confronting farmers is knowing how to manage the resources to attain maximum income over a period of time. Combinations of resources involve problems relative to crops, livestock, machinery, labor, capital, credit, and many others. An attempt has been made in this study to measure the results of different combinations and operation of resources and to determine their association with financial success of the farm.

January 2016 (has links)
Abstract: The understanding of Judicial decisions about unseizability of the small rural property requires knowledge of the rural brazilian Agrarian Question. It is within this historical context, and correlation of forces, which are found the "roots" that prevent the realization of this legal protection. Through the Judiciary keeps the concentrated land ownership in Brazil, and ensuring compliance with contracts in disputes involving banks and small landowners. However, minority decisions which do not follow the jurisprudence have been seen. / Mestre

This research promotes an analysis of the social function of land ownership in Brazilian law. It argues that the concept of the social function of rural property is contained in the concept of productivity, but can not be without this social function, so that the term "productive property" contained in Art. 185, item II of the Constitution of 1988, is related to both economic and social aspects. It can be deducted from the systematic interpretation of Articles 185 and 186 of the Constitution, in line with the program constitutional under Articles 1, 3 and 170 of the Charter, through which is promoted the true meaning of the multidimensionality of the social function of rural property. So, the elements of the social function of landownership - the economic (rational and appropriate use), the environmental (appropriate use of natural resources and preservation of the environment) and social (observance of the rules that regulate labor relations and exploration that favors the welfare of owners and workers) - integrate the concept of productivity, so that it is at the same time, container and content of the social function of property.
