Métodos numéricos euleriano-lagrangeanos para leis de conservação / Eulerian-lagrangina numeric methods for conservation laws

Sebastián Mancuso 30 April 2008 (has links)

Modelagem dinâmica de separador bifásico com alimentação por escoamento em regime de golfadas / Dynamic modeling of two-phase separator with feeding for draining in regimen of slug

Rosilene Abreu Portella 07 August 2008 (has links)
Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. / The present work addresses the behavior of a primary processing plant subjected to slug flow pattern at its entrance. The flow in a pipeline system is described by a simplified concentrated parameter model, which preserves the main physical features that are important to control the plant. The dynamic response of the plant is then analyzed. Using a standard control strategy for the gas liquid separator, it is seen that the flow oscillations are transmitted to the liquid and gas outlets. In order to obtain a more stable outlet flow, the liquid level in the separator is then allowed to fluctuate within a given range, by reducing the effect of the controller constants, and establishing an additional control directly on the inlet entrance valve.

A new numerical method is proposed for the solution of two-phase flow problem in petroleum reservoirs. The two-phase (water and oil) flow problem is governed by a pressure-velocity equation coupled to a saturation equation. For computational eficiency an operator spliting technique is used; distinct time steps can be used for the computation of transport and pressure-velocity problems. The finite volume method is used in the numerical solution of the velocity-pressure and mass transport problems. A flux limiter is used for the numerical discretization of the advective terms while centered schemes are employed for the diffusion terms in the mass transport problem. In the validation of our numerical method we compared numerical and theoretical solutions for one dimensional problems, Burgers and Buckley-Leverett equations, and compared our numerical results to others, in the case of oil-water flows in two dimensions for an heterogeneous porous media.

Numerical Methods for Bayesian Inference in Hilbert Spaces / Numerische Methoden für Bayessche Inferenz in Hilberträumen

Sprungk, Björn 15 February 2018 (has links) (PDF)
Bayesian inference occurs when prior knowledge about uncertain parameters in mathematical models is merged with new observational data related to the model outcome. In this thesis we focus on models given by partial differential equations where the uncertain parameters are coefficient functions belonging to infinite dimensional function spaces. The result of the Bayesian inference is then a well-defined posterior probability measure on a function space describing the updated knowledge about the uncertain coefficient. For decision making and post-processing it is often required to sample or integrate wit resprect to the posterior measure. This calls for sampling or numerical methods which are suitable for infinite dimensional spaces. In this work we focus on Kalman filter techniques based on ensembles or polynomial chaos expansions as well as Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. We analyze the Kalman filters by proving convergence and discussing their applicability in the context of Bayesian inference. Moreover, we develop and study an improved dimension-independent Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. Here, we show geometric ergodicity of the new method by a spectral gap approach using a novel comparison result for spectral gaps. Besides that, we observe and further analyze the robustness of the proposed algorithm with respect to decreasing observational noise. This robustness is another desirable property of numerical methods for Bayesian inference. The work concludes with the application of the discussed methods to a real-world groundwater flow problem illustrating, in particular, the Bayesian approach for uncertainty quantification in practice.

Analyse de connectivité et techniques de partitionnement de données appliquées à la caractérisation et la modélisation d'écoulement au sein des réservoirs très hétérogènes / Connectivity analysis and clustering techniques applied for the characterisation and modelling of flow in highly heterogeneous reservoirs

Darishchev, Alexander 10 December 2015 (has links)
Computer-based workflows have gained a paramount role in development and exploitation of natural hydrocarbon resources and other subsurface operations. One of the crucial problems of reservoir modelling and production forecasting is in pre-selecting appropriate models for quantifying uncertainty and robustly matching results of flow simulation to real field measurements and observations. This thesis addresses these and other related issues. We have explored a strategy to facilitate and speed up the adjustment of such numerical models to available field production data. Originally, the focus of this research was on conceptualising, developing and implementing fast proxy models related to the analysis of connectivity, as a physically meaningful property of the reservoir, with advanced cluster analysis techniques. The developed methodology includes also several original probability-oriented approaches towards the problems of sampling uncertainty and determining the sample size and the expected value of sample information. For targeting and prioritising relevant reservoir models, we aggregated geostatistical realisations into distinct classes with a generalised distance measure. Then, to improve the classification, we extended the silhouette-based graphical technique, called hereafter the "entire sequence of multiple silhouettes" in cluster analysis. This approach provided clear and comprehensive information about the intra- and inter-cluster dissimilarities, especially helpful in the case of weak, or even artificial, structures. Finally, the spatial separation and form-difference of clusters were graphically visualised and quantified with a scale-invariant probabilistic distance measure. The obtained relationships appeared to justify and validate the applicability of the proposed approaches to enhance the characterisation and modelling of flow. Reliable correlations were found between the shortest "injector-producer" pathways and water breakthrough times for different configurations of well placement, various heterogeneity levels and mobility ratios of fluids. The proposed graph-based connectivity proxies provided sufficiently accurate results and competitive performance at the meta-level. The use of them like precursors and ad hoc predictors is beneficial at the pre-processing stage of the workflow. Prior to history matching, a suitable and manageable number of appropriate reservoir models can be identified from the comparison of the available production data with the selected centrotype-models regarded as the class representatives, only for which the full fluid flow simulation is pre-requisite. The findings of this research work can easily be generalised and considered in a wider scope. Possible extensions, further improvements and implementation of them may also be expected in other fields of science and technology.

Analýza rozložení teplotního profilu v pájecí peci pomocí systémů CAE / Analysis of the distribution of the temperature profile in the furnace brazing using CAE systems

Stručovský, Aleš January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this project is using the CAE system to analyze the distribution of the temperature profile brazing furnace DIMA 0180. To create the model is used SolidWorks Premium 2012. The simulation is performed using the Flow Simulation. This work builds on the knowledge diploma thesis by Martin Procházka titled The effect of different heat capacities and components on the longitudinal temperature profile for reflow soldering. We start from the knowledge of heat transfer, especially of heat conduction and radiation, which appear in the furnace.
