Projektet är en strategi för att stegvis uppgradera och förstärka offentliga delar av Holma i Malmö, i takt med att området byggs ut med nya bostadskvarter. Arbetet tar sin grund i vikten av spontana och planerade möten mellan människor, utgående från möjligheterna i strukturen av ett bostadsområde från senare delen av miljonprogrammet. Punktvisa ingrepp innefattar ett Folkets hus, en cykelpump, ett område för urban odling samt tillförsel av lokaler för publika funktioner i marknivå.

How can I design a modern Folkets Hus with great respectfor the current and historical structures, based on an analysisof existing Folkets Hus buildings?During my project I have kept an open mind towards all the impressions Igathered during my site visits and conversations with knowledgeable people.This has led to changes in my project, as from being about creatinga new Folkets Hus, to reconstructing a Folkets Hus. I have learned that theFolkets Hus history certainly contains an architectural treasure, and in myproject I have tried to bring the existing qualities to the future.

Orden ”gemensam grund” ligger mitt hjärta nära. Jag växte upp i ett samhälle (en kyrka av en religion) där samhället var allt. Schemat för mitt liv var skrivet. Schemat för mitt sinne var sammansatt. Säkerhet. Lugn. Bekvämlighet. Ändå så kontrollerat. Denna säkerhet, lugn och komfort tror jag att Folkets hus kunde ha varit för ett annat jag. Men något mycket friare. En chans att tillhöra, hitta lugn och en känsla av något större än mig själv. Så min frågeställning för detta arbete blev: Kan jag använda en gammal lokal såsom medborgarhuset i Arvidsjaur för att skapa en ny användning och återuppliva en känsla av gemenskap? / The words “common ground” is close to my heart. I grew up in a society (a church of a religion) where the community was everything. The schedule for my life was written. The schedule for my mind was composed. Saftey. Calm. Comfort. Yet so controlled.  This safety, calm and comfort I imagine Folkets hus could have been for another me. But something far freer. A chance to belong, to find tranquillity and a sense of something bigger than myself.  So my thesis question for this project became: Can I use an old building such as medborgarhuset in Arvidsjaur to create a new use and revive a sense of belonging.

Nynäsobservatoriet är beläget på en höjd med utsikt över Alhagens våtmark, i närheten av Nynäshamns norra entré. Vägen till observatoriet är en promenad genom den tysta och rofyllda skogen upp till höjden. Denna tillgång till naturen och den storslagna utsikten mot såväl skog som våtmark har av avsikt att skapa förutsättningar för en byggnad med syfte att höja intresse och kunskap kring rymden såväl som miljön och vår naturliga omgivning. Den tänkta hybridbyggnaden ska agera som en hub för alla naturälskare, vandrare, studenter och alla som söker lugn och ro. Platsen är mindre påverkad av ljusföroreningar, vilket ger bättre förhållanden för stjärnobservation och demonstrerar vikten av att bevara mörka himlar för astronomiskforskning. / Nynäsobservatoriet is located on a hill overlooking the Alhagen wetland, near the northern entrance of Nynäshamn. The path to the observatory is a walk through the silent and tranquil forest up to the summit. This access to nature and the magnificent views of both the forest and wetland is intended to create conditions for a building with the purpose of raising interest and knowledge about space, as well as the environment and our natural surroundings. The intended hybrid building will act as a hub for all nature enthusiasts, hikers, students, and anyone seeking peace and tranquility. The location is less affected by light pollution, providing better conditions for stargazing and demonstrating the importance of preserving dark skies for astronomical research.

Projektet Betong i Nytt Ljus är ett förslag på en hybridbyggnad mellan ett ”hus för folket” och en testanläggning för produktion av hållbar betong. Produktionen innebär att restprodukter från jordbruket, exempelvis havreskal, förbränns till aska som sedan fungerar som bindemedel i betong och ersätter därmed cement vilket resulterar i ett nära halverat klimatavtryck. Platsen för projektet är Nynäshamn som är en växande kommun med kopplingar till både jordbruk och industri. Byggnaden är uppdelad i en förbränningshall, en hall för småskalig betongproduktion samt en mer offentlig del som bland annat inrymmer offentliga kontor och mötesrum, restaurang och auditorium. Hybridprogrammet genererade även en sammanlänkande byggnadskropp som innehåller offentliga laboratorium där allmänheten kan skapa med hållbar betong. De offentliga lokalerna ligger i direkt anslutning till produktionen utan att störa produktionsflödet. Förhoppningen är att man som besökare får insyn i verksamheten och därigenom känner sig delaktig och i förlängningen blir mer engagerad i hållbarhetsarbetet. Målet med gestaltningen är att utforska betongens förutsättningar i skapandet av rumsligheter och fasaduttryck, samt att ta vara på olika sätt som ljuset spelar mot materialet.  Projektet syftar vidare till att undersöka hur arkitektoniska metoder för att skapa inre logik och struktur kan användas för att hantera ett komplext hybridprogram. / Concrete in a New Light is a proposal for a hybrid building between a "house for the people" and a test facility for the production of sustainable concrete. The production intails burning of residual products from agriculture to ash which acts as a binder in concrete and thus replaces cement, resulting in a nearly halved climate footprint. The location for the project is Nynäshamn, a growing municipality with connections to both agriculture and industry. The building is divided into a combustion hall, a hall for small-scale concrete production and a more public part which houses co-working spaces, a restaurant, auditoriums etcetera. An interlinking building body contains semi-public concrete laboratories. The public facilities are directly connected to the production without disturbing the production flow. The aim is for the visitor to gain insight into the business and thereby feel involved in the sustainability work. The goal of the design is to explore the conditions of concrete in the creation of spatiality and facade expression, as well as the different ways that light plays on the material. The project further aims to investigate how architectural methods for creating internal logic and structure can be used to manage a complex hybrid program.

Epa kulturen börjar idag nå ut till den stora massan genom Epa-dunk musiken. Själva fortskaffningsmedlet är dock fortfarande relativt otillgängligt för många. Mycket av möjligheterna att äga och kunna reparera en epa traktor kommer genom ungdomars föräldrar och deras ekonomiska möjligheter. De flesta av ungdomarna som kör epa bor i villa och har föräldrar som till viss del har ett motorintresse och på så vis kan hjälpa till och kanske till och med undervisa sina barn i mekaniken. Kånkels hus hade kunnat möjliggöra detta för många fler vilkas föräldrar kanske inte bor i villa med garage eller inte har intresse av motorfordon. Kulturen runt motorfordon har länge bland ungdomar varit färgad av den tätt kopplade musiken. Artister som Eddie Meduza, Fröken Susk och Onkel Kånkel har en anda av ungdomlig obstinatism och punkighet vilken har fått leda utformningen av Kånkels hus. Post-Modernismens lek och omkastning av det klassiska är kanske det närmaste punk och könsrock vi har inom arkitektur. Därför föll valet att studera och praktisera en del av Post-Modernismen sig naturligt i projektet. / Epa culture is beginning to reach the masses through Epa-dunk music. However, the means of transportation themselves are still relatively inaccessible to the many. Much of the opportunity to own and be able to repair an epa tractor comes through the parents of young people, and their financial capabilities. Most of the young people who drive epa live in villas and have parents who to some extent have an interest in motoring and thus can help and maybe even teach their children mechanics. Kånkel's house could make this possible for many more whose parents may not live in a villa with a garage or have no interest in motor vehicles. The culture around motor vehicles has long been colored by the closely connected music among young people. Artists such as Eddie Meduza, Fröken Susk and Onkel Kånkel have a spirit of youthful obstinacy and punkness which has led the design of Kånkel's house. Post-Modernism's play with the classical elements of architecture is perhaps the closest thing to punk and gender rock we have in architecture. Therefore, the choice to study and practice a part of Post-Modernism fell naturally into the project.

The project entails the creation of a captivating complex, comprising a community house and a Retreat center. Located in the peaceful outskirts of Ösmo, with stunning views of Västra Styran, this architectural masterpiece seamlessly blends functionality, aesthetic appeal, and a profound connection to nature. The Retreat center, an integral part of the project, offers a sanctuary of tranquility and rejuvenation for adults registered in Nynäshamn Municipality. It provides an escape from the demands of everyday life, inviting individuals to embark on a serene and revitalizing retreat experience complete with overnight accommodations. Thoughtfully designed to complement the surrounding natural landscape, the Retreat center features 23 units, each equipped with private bathrooms. This fusion of comfort and nature allows guests to unwind and immerse themselves in the beauty of their surroundings. At the core of the complex lies the community house, serving as a vibrant hub for learning, social interaction, and engagement. Designed as a multifunctional space, it caters to various activities and facilitates connections among visitors. The community house offers a wide range of amenities, including a knowledge-filled library, activity rooms to foster creativity, workshops to encourage skill-building, and flexible spaces to accommodate different needs. Additionally, a spacious dining hall provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for shared meals and meaningful conversations. The architectural concept extends beyond the conventional boundaries of a retreat or community center. During the summer months, the building opens its doors to businesses in search of a unique venue for their activities or scout groups seeking an unforgettable camping experience. This versatility enhances the project's sustainability while promoting broader community involvement and collaboration. A central objective of this architectural endeavor is to cultivate an environment that fosters holistic well-being, a sense of togetherness, and community development. Through thoughtfully curated workshops and engaging events, visitors have the opportunity to actively engage with and learn from local communities. By participating in these experiences, guests not only gain valuable insights into the region's cultural heritage but also contribute to its preservation. This project aspires to create a space where health, connection, and societal progress intertwine harmoniously, leaving a lasting positive impact on both individuals and the wider community.

The project, a hybrid between a community house and a center for horse led therapy, is designed with the intention of exploring the classic barn typology and modernizing a classical timber technique called bole house or post-and-plank. The building is situated in the northernmost part of the land belonging to Stora Sundby Castle and lies near Alberga city center. Alberga is a small town about 30 minutes southwest of Eskilstuna, with close ties to several bigger cities in Mälardalen like Västerås, Strängnäs, and Kungsör. The building is structured around three functions: therapy, socializing, and experiencing nature and animals. The horse-led therapy, HUI, is located in the east wing and houses rooms that allow the therapist to utilize horses and riding in their practice. The two remaining functions take up the rest of the building, with a variety of social spaces and meeting rooms oriented towards the beautiful forest that the house borders. / Projektet, en hybrid mellan folkets hus och ett center för hästunderstödd terapi, är designat med intentionen att dels utforska den klassiska ladutypologin men också modernisera skiftesverk som är en gammal timmermetod. Byggnaden ligger i den norra delen av slottet Stora Sundbys mark i nära anslutning till Alberga centrum. Alberga är en mindre tätort cirka 30 minuter sydväst om Eskilstuna med nära geografisk koppling till flera större städer i Mälardalen som Västerås, Strängnäs och Kungsör. Byggnaden är strukturerad kring tre huvudfunktioner: terapi, möten och socialisering samt en naturnära upplevelse med hästen i fokus. Den hästunderstödda terapin, HUI, har sin verksamhet i den östra delen av byggnaden och huserar rum som tillåter terapeuten att använda sig av hästar och ridning i sin behandling. De två resterande funktionerna är utspridda i resten av byggnaden med en variation av rum som alla är orienterade mot den närliggande skogen och hästhagarna och är ämnade sociala sammankomster.

When it comes to its program Not Quite Egnahemsfabriken is inspired by two already existing organizations/businesses: the art and crafts collective Not Quite located in Fengersfors, and the house building member organization Egnahemsfabriken located in Tjörn. Both businesses act in rural areas and are, through their practices, contributing to both environmental and social sustainability in their local society. The project aims to follow their lead in offering a space where people can bring matter into their own hands and together create the lives and environment (or things) they wish for without having to rely on bigger corporations or slow political decisions. The site for the project is a somewhat forgotten but interesting industrial park with big parts of the concrete slab making up the area left unused. Placing the project here gives the possibility to give the area a new direction and also the advantage of not having to occupy any virgin land. Architecturally the building is a play with the desire to discover as you move around the structure as well as a game of strictly holding onto the rules until you cannot anymore.
