Com a demanda crescente por taxas de transmissão cada vez mais elevadas nesse contexto, a velocidade de decodificação dos sinais DTMF torna-se um parâmetro importante no projeto desses sistemas. Uma vez que a decodificação é realizada via multiplexação temporal em um processador digital de sinais, um menor tempo de decodificação implica capacidade de processar simultaneamente um maior número de canais. Esta dissertação propõe um novo método, baseado na Transformada Aritmética de Fourier, para a decodificação dos sinais DTMF. O método proposto é mais eficiente, em termos de complexidade computacional, do que as técnicas usualmente utilizadas nesse cenário. São enfatizadas as vantagens computacionais que esta nova técnica oferece sobre outros algoritmos que calculam a Transformada Discreta de Fourier. Resultados de simulações são apresentados e algumas implementações são sugeridas. Uma breve análise do desempenho do método proposto, na presença de quantizadores, é feita

Automated Parameter Tuning based on RMS Errors for nonequispaced FFTs

In this paper we study the error behavior of the well known fast Fourier transform for nonequispaced data (NFFT) with respect to the L2-norm. We compare the arising errors for different window functions and show that the accuracy of the algorithm can be significantly improved by modifying the shape of the window function. Based on the considered error estimates for different window functions we are able to state an easy and efficient method to tune the involved parameters automatically. The numerical examples show that the optimal parameters depend on the given Fourier coefficients, which are assumed not to be of a random structure or roughly of the same magnitude but rather subject to a certain decrease.

A number of topics related to Fourier imaging are investigated. Relationships between the magnitude of errors in the amplitude and phase of the Fourier transform of images and the mean square error in reconstructed images are derived. The differing effects of amplitude and phase errors are evaluated, and "equivalent" amplitude and phase errors are derived. A model of the probability density function of the Fourier amplitudes of images is derived. The fundamental basis of phase dominance is studied and quantitated. Inconsistencies in published counter-examples of phase dominance are highlighted. The key characteristics of natural images that lead to their observed power spectral behaviour with spatial frequency are determined.
