Dinâmica locacional da vitivinicultura: novas regiões do Rio Grande do Sul e Vale do São Francisco / Locational dinamic of viticulture: new production areas in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and Vale do São Francisco

Schneider, Luciane 31 August 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this work is to identify which locational variables influenced the decision made by producers from the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), main viticulturist state in Brasil, to expand investments on the wine industry. There was a movement of territorial expansion of wine production to new regions in RS (Serra do Sudeste and Campanha) and to Vale do São Francisco, in the states of Bahia and Pernambuco, regions in which he grape agriculture hadrit started yet. The direct-interview with viticulturists was the main source of information used by this work. This research embraced 73,3% of the producers investing in those new regions, and it was conducted during December/2005, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, and January/2006, in Vale do São Francisco. Descriptive statistic has been applied to summarize the data obtained with the interviews, due to qualitative variables representing most of the questions. The main hypothesis of this work suggests that in the agroindustry, variables involving raw material (quality, supplier) are the main factors in making the decision as to production area. A review of Bowersox Theory (1978) associated with the theory of locational factors was employed as theoretical referential. As for results, it was possible to validate that Brazilian viticulture was conditioned to the place distribution of productive resources, standing out the following factors: edaphoclimatics, raw material quality, manager behavior and land availability. Thus, the research revealed that companies have been concerned regarding the quality of the final product (wine), which is optimized through raw material quality (grape) that depends on edaphoclimatic conditions of the productive area. Indeed, the need to achieve a higher level of quality forced the viticulture to expand its production area to Serra do Sudeste and Campanha (RS) and Vale do São Francisco, which has recently turned into an attractive area to foreign investment, because of its excellent edaphoclimatic conditions, two harvests a year, continuous output year round and a small agroindustry.

Thank you. / This research focused on understanding the process of nonprofit growth through geographic expansion, including challenges, opportunities, and critical decision points. A qualitative case study design was used. City Year and Citizen Schools, two Boston based, youth-serving organizations, served as the subjects of this study. Data collection included interviews with founders/leaders, board members, staff members, and other key informants; observation; and a review of internal and external documents. Using the principles of grounded theory, a Preliminary Nonprofit Geographic Expansion Model was developed through analysis of the two cases. Several major themes that emerged from the analysis were explored. This discussion of themes led to a Revised Nonprofit Geographic Expansion Model. Further study is required to test the generalizability of the Revised Nonprofit Expansion Model and relevant insights. / 2031-01-02

Le cas de l'ajonc (Ulex europaeus) sur l'île de La Réunion / What are the natural and human factors leading to invasive status? The case of gorse (Ulex europaeus) on the island of Reunion

Udo, Nathalie 20 January 2016 (has links)
For over twenty years, invasive species have been raised to the rank of major public problems because of their effects on the environment, economy and health. The main objective of this PhD thesis is to identify natural and human factors leading to attribute over time the public status of invasive species to certain species and in certain contexts, through the case of gorse (Ulex europaeus) on the island of La Réunion (Indian Ocean). This work have a three-part structure: (i) a comparison of biological characteristics of gorse between La Reunion, where it is called / declared invasive, and France, its native range, (ii) a historical analysis of its geographic expansion through natural and human factors, (iii) a study of the construction of public status attributed to gorse since its introduction on the island. The results showed a biological evolution between gorse populations of France and La Reunion related to germination rate and velocity, and seed dispersal. Coupled with a faster growth of individuals previously demonstrated, this suggest that colonization capacities of gorse are more important in the invasive region than in its native region. These capacities have favoured its geographic expansion in agricultural and natural environments, in interaction with the uses, agricultural practices and land uses, which themselves result from the overall socio-economic context from European scale to family farming scale. The construction and publicizing of the invasive status of gorse on this island is a combination between these ecological features and sociological elements: a new ecological vision of the world on a global scale, and, on a regional scale, social interactions between stakeholders about the management of protected natural areas. These results demonstrate one more time the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to understand the fundamentally hybrid object, product of nature and culture.

Géographie de la finance : l'industrie des OPCVM en Europe / Geography of finance : the European UCITS industry

Granier, Caroline 04 February 2015 (has links)
La circulation différenciée descapitaux au sein du marché européen révèle la logique multi-scalaire de la finance / The “end of geography” is a disputed and controversial topic among economists and geographers.Nevertheless economists contribute to the recognition of the role of geography by highlighting thepersistently important influence of geographic distance over financial behaviour. In this way they takepart in the construction of the discipline. Seen in this light, the aim of this study is the integration ofEuropean UCITS as a relevant research topic in geography of finance. The study claims to questionthe functioning of the industry, its practices and its regulation. The focus on European markets ofUCITS enables to place the process of geographic expansion in the centre of analysis. If the principlesguiding this expansion find their origins in the US, this study highlights the active role of States,Europe and French actors. Differentiated circulation of capital within European markets reveals themulti-scalar logic of finance.

Determinación de la expansión geográfica bancaria y la maximización de beneficios / Geographic Expansion and its relationship with net financial margin in Commercial Banking

Santamaría Nieri, Sebastí 28 September 2021 (has links)
The geographic banking expansion has devolved over time with a solid view where new users get interested in joining the financial system. This evolution has been achieved because commercial banks have increased new and more access branches in order to allow people to use financial instruments such as, offices, ATMs, correspondent tellers, among others. In this sense, the present research analyzes the relationship between this expansion on access points and the benefits of banks, using a variable called "Net Financial Margin". Therefore, will been shown a theoretical framework that connects this theory with the previous literature. The net financial margin has been related with higher rates of leverage funding in an economy; also, with market concentration influences and with operational efficiency that can be developed through economies of scale and scope. For the present analysis, it has been hypothesized that geographic banking expansion allows commercial banks, with a positive relationship, to obtain greater profits in the short and long term. This will be demonstrated by econometric estimates with fixed effects parameters. / Trabajo de investigación
