The project started on the basis of the global goal for clean water and sanitation. Early in the project, it was identified that there is a municipal water and sewage system in Eskilstuna that supplies the urban areas, whilst the majority of the homes in the countryside are dependent on an individual water supply and sewerage system. During site visits the residents along road 230 mentioned that the municipality had promised an expansion of the water and sewerage system for several years, but that this was yet to happen - despite the fact that the water treatment plant Hyndevad is in the same area. Presuming that the municipality will eventually expand the water and sewerage system along road 230, smaller water treatment plants could supply clusters of homes with clean water until the expansion is completed. Plants may also be built along the road and then later connect to the major system in the future. This project aims to design and develop one of these plants, which will be able to supply about 350 people with water, and at the same time educate the residents on sustainable water management. The building will be a people's house where the water purification process is visible and creates atmospheric rooms for meetings, exhibitions and conferences. / Verket startade med utgångspunkt i det globala målet rent vatten och sanitet för alla. Tidigt i projektet identifierades det att det idag finns i ett kommunalt vatten- och avloppssystem i Eskilstuna som försörjer de mer urbana områdena, medan majoriteten längre ut på landsbygden istället är beroende av ett enskilt VA-system. De boende längs med väg 230 nämnde vid platsbesök att kommunen pratat i flera år om att bygga ut det kommunala VA-systemet, men att detta aldrig skett - trots att vattenverket Hyndevad ligger nära vägen. En framtidsspaning utifrån detta var att kommunen så småningom kommer bygga ut det kommunala VA-systemet längs väg 230 och att mindre vattenverk samtidigt skulle förse kluster av bostäder med vatten. Vattenverk kan också komma att byggas längs med vägen för att sedan kopplas till det större systemet i framtiden. Projektet syftar på att designa och utveckla ett av dessa verk, som kommer kunna förse omkring 350 personer med vatten, och samtidigt lära ut om hållbar vattenhantering. Byggnaden blir ett folkets hus där vattenreningsprocessen är synlig och skapar atmosfäriska lokaler för möten, utställningar och konferens.

A countryside with strong cohesion and good communications. A population with a strong commitment and willingness to develop together. A school in the absence of premises for practical subjects, a society in the absence of space for association life. A community forgotten by the municipality without investments and that are forced to go west and east to complete their lives. Gillberga Activity House is a gathering place for the whole village. The location at Gillberga School maximizes the opportunities for utilization of the building during all hours of the day. The majority of the activity rooms can be used by both students and the general public. Gillberga also gets excellent premises for a leisure center that finally gives young people something attractive to do outside of school hours. In the house we find halls for crafts, home and consumer studies and music which during the day become teaching rooms. The music hall can also be opened up to the school yard and used for concerts and school graduations. One level down, the flexible auditorium can be used for both cinema and theater as well as school graduations, music performances and as a public gathering place. The library is both a school and a public library and its meeting and conference rooms are free to use by Gillberg residents. Gillberga Activity House has the youth in focus at the same time as it connects generations in a long-awaited people's house. / En landsbygd med stark sammanhållning och bra kommunikationer. En befolkning med starkt engagemang och vilja att utvecklas tillsammans. En skola i brist på lokaler för praktiska ämnen, ett samhälle i brist på utrymmen för föreningsliv. Ett av kommunen bortglömt community utan satsningar som tvingas slussas västerut och österut för att komplettera sina liv. Gillberga aktivitetshus är en samlingsplats för hela byn. Placeringen på skolområdet vid Gillberga skola maximerar möjligheterna för utnyttjande av byggnaden under dagens alla timmar. Majoriteten av aktivitetslokalerna kan användas av såväl elever som allmänheten. Gillberga får dessutom utmärkta lokaler för en fritidsgård som äntligen ger ungdomarna något attraktivt att göra utanför skoltid. I huset finner vi slöjdsal, hemkunskapssal och musikrum som under dagtid blir undervisningslokaler. Musikrummet kan även öppnas upp mot skolans innergård och användas vid konserter och skolavslutningar. Ett plan ner kan den flexibla biosalongen användas för såväl bio och teater som skolavslutningar, musikframträdanden och som allmän samlingsplats. Biblioteket är såväl ett skol- som ett folkbibliotek och dess mötes- och konferensrum går fritt att använda av Gillbergaborna. Gillberga Aktivitetshus har ungdomen i fokus samtidigt som det knyter samman generationer i ett efterlängtad folkets hus.

For a long time, Lista-Gillberga has been a place where retired elders move to spend their last years in the fresh air in the countryside. Eskilstuna municipality's investment in expanding through new housing, population growth and a university means that the area could now have an increase ofyounger generations who want the proximity to the city of Eskilstuna but still want to feel the freedom of the countryside. This Community Center+ becomes one intergenerational institution, where both younger and older generations can meet and socialize. In addition to a part of the building that contains premises open to the public, the building contains a preschool with two departments, as well as a nursing home that includes 20 apartments. The premises that are open to the public are easily accessible to both the residents and the preschool children and here, for example, localassociations and other actors can activate the elderly and children in various activities. In addition to this, a common department is also provided for the nursing home and preschool. This contains a conservatory, open hangout area and studios specifically available for the residents and the children. An important driving force in this project lies in the fact that nursing homes should not just be a storage unit for the elderly during their final years of life. Research shows that contact between the elderly and children can contribute to strengthened mental health for the elderly and that symptoms of dementia can decrease. The elderly should experience the feeling of being needed and appreciated in society. They should be able to really live their lives to the fullest and not have to feel cut off from the outside world. Gillberga Generational can thus be seen as a hub for the residents of Lista-Gillberga where both older and younger people are welcomed and can socialize together. / Länge har Lista-Gillberga varit en plats dit pensionärer flyttar för att spendera sina sista år i frisk luft på landsbygden. Eskilstuna kommuns ’satsning på expandera genom nya bostäder, befolkningsökning och ett universitet innebär att området nu skulle kunna få en tillökning av yngre generationer som vill ha närheten till Eskilstuna stad men ändå känna friheten på landsbygden. Detta Folkets hus + blir en generationsöverskridande institution, där både yngre och äldre generationer kan mötas och umgås. Förutom en del av byggnaden som innehåller lokaler öppna för allmänheten innehåller byggnaden en förskola med två avdelningar, samt ett vård- och omsorgsboende som omfattar 20 lägenheter. De lokaler som är öppna för allmänheten är lättillgängliga för både de boende samt förskolebarnen och här skulle tillexempel lokala föreningar och andra aktörer kunna aktivera de äldre och barnen i olika aktiviteter. Utöver detta föreslås också en gemensam avdelning med vinterträdgård, allrum / myshörna och ateljéer specifikt tillgängliga för boendet och förskolan.  En viktig drivkraft i det här projektet ligger i att ett vård- och omsorgsboende inte bara ska bli en förvaring av äldre under deras sista år i livet. Forskning visar på att umgänge mellan äldre och barn kan leda till stärkt mental hälsa hos de äldre, att symptom på demens kan gå tillbaka samt ett allmänt gladare humör. De äldre ska få känna sig behövda och sysselsatta och på riktigt få leva livet fullt ut och inte behöva känna sig avskärmade från omvärlden. Gillberga Generational kan alltså ses som ett nav för invånarna i Lista- Gillberga där både äldre och yngre välkomnas och kan umgås ihop.
