Kauno miesto viešbučių organizacijos kultūros analizė / The analysis of organizational culture in Kaunas hotelsKvietkauskaitė, Rūta 02 June 2009 (has links)
Darbo sudėtinės dalys. Darbas susideda iš dviejų dalių - teorinės ir tiriamosios. Teorinėje dalyje, remiantis lietuvių ir užsienio autorių moksline literatūra išanalizuoti organizacijos kultūros aspektai, sampratos ypatumai.
Tiriamojoje dalyje – aptariama tiriamų organizacijų charakteristika. Remiantis darbe pateikta tyrimo metodologija, atliktas Kauno miesto viešbučių organizacijos kultūros tyrimas. Atliekant anketinį tyrimą, apklausta 123 respondentai (60 respondentų trijų žvaigždučių viešbučiuose ir 63 – keturių žvaigždučių viešbučiuose). Remiantis gautais tyrimo pateikti gauto tyrimo rezultatai, išvados bei rekomendacijos.
Darbo objektas – Kauno miesto viešbučių organizacijos kultūra.
Problema. Mokslininkai iki šiol nėra ištyrę, kaip atskiros paslaugų sferos t.y. poilsio paslaugas teikiančių įmonių organizacijos kultūras.
Tyrimo tikslas – ištirti Kauno miesto viešbučių organizacijos kultūrą.
Šiam tikslui pasiekti buvo suformuluoti tokie uždaviniai:
1. Teoriškai pagrįsti organizacijos kultūros aspektus, organizacijos kultūros sampratą funkcijas, reikšmę.
2. Nustatyti kokią vietą viešbutis užima turizmo versle
3. Nustatyti Kauno miesto viešbučių organizacijos kultūros stiprumą bei jos poveikį darbuotojams.
4. Ištirti Kauno miesto viešbučių organizacijos kultūrą.

Vieną pirmųjų, dabar jau laikomą klasikiniu, organizacijos kultūros apibrėžimų, yra pateikęs E.H.Schein (1992). Jo nuomone, organizacijos kultūra – tai kertinių įsitikinimų modelis, išugdytas ar... In the theoretical part the peculiarities of organizational culture are analysed according to the reliable scientific literature of Lithuanian and foreign authors.
In the practical part – the characteristic of investigative organization is discussed. According to the repordet methodology of organizational culture the investigation in hotels was disposed.With the help of questionnaires there were asked 123 persons (60 persons in three stars hotels and 63 in four stars hotels). Acording to the received material and data anglysis received results, conclusions and gudeline are presented.

The aim of work - explore the city of Kaunas hotel organization culture
To achieve this objective was formulated in such tasks:
1. Theoretically, based on the cultural aspects of the organization, the organization culture concept of function, value.
2. Identify the location of the hotel occupies a tourism business
3. Set the Kaunas hotel organization of cultural strength and its impact on workers.
4. Explore the city of Kaunas hotel organization culture

Green energy initiatives in the hotel industry: factors influencing adoption decisionsHalbe, Akanksha 03 September 2013 (has links)
Adopting green energy initiatives is deemed significant in reducing the carbon footprint of the hotel industry. In general, energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies offer wide applications in the hotel industry. The adoption of these technologies improves energy performance and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. Hotel organizational commitment towards sustainability is highly inconsistent across the industry. Essentially, this industry represents a continuum of adopters; some hotels are leaders who proactively adopt innovative and state-of- the-art technologies, while others adopt only basic practices, such as reusing towels.
There exist several challenges to shifting hotel organizations toward implementing green energy measures. Sharing best practices and learned lessons is essential to convince less committed hotel organizations to take action. Along with sharing information, it is important to identify similarities and differences in decision-making on green energy measures in both committed and less committed hotels. This study explores factors affecting decision-making on green energy measures in the hotel industry. In particular, it examines the business case for these measures and identifies challenges that prevent hotel managers from taking action. The study findings suggest that similarities and differences among best practice and other hotels are related to the approaches taken in decision-making by hotel managers in the adoption of green energy measures in terms of short/long term energy planning, resource intensity and views about sustainability. The study further highlights success factors contributing to increased use of green energy measures and areas that need to be addressed in order to encourage hotel managers to adopt green energy measures.

Darbo objektas – Palangos viešbučių konkurencinis pranašumas.
Darbo tikslas – nustatyti konkurencinio pranašumo stiprinimo galimybes Palangos viešbučiuose.
Darbo uždaviniai:
1. Išanalizuoti konkurencinį pranašumą lemiančius veiksnius teoriniu aspektu.
2. Ištirti pagrindinius veiksnius, stiprinančius Palangos viešbučių konkurencinį pranašumą, apklausiant viešbučių klientus bei darbuotojus.
3. Parengti Palangos viešbučiams pritaikytą konkurencinio pranašumo stiprinimo modelį.
Darbe yra trys pagrindinės dalys. Pirmoje dalyje pateikiama konkurencinio pranašumo samprata, aprašyti konkurencinį pranašumą įtakojantys veiksniai, strategijos bei konkurencinio pranašumo modelio formavimo teoriniai aspektai. Antroje dalyje apžvelgiama tyrimo metodika ir organizavimas. Siekiant nustatyti viešbučių veiklos tobulinimo kryptis, atlikta anketinė apklausa viešbučių darbuotojams ir klientams, pateiktos tiriamų Palangos viešbučių SSGG ir PEST analizės. Trečioje dalyje aptariami gauti anketinės apklausos tyrimo rezultatai. Remiantis atliktais tyrimais Tailando viešbučiuose, pasiūlytas konkurencinio pranašumo stiprinimo modelis Palangos viešbučių veiklai gerinti. Rekomenduojama įdiegti santykių su klientais valdymo sistemą bei naujų paslaugų vystymo strategiją.

Despite its growing importance in industrialized nations, the service sector has received relatively little attention from economic geographers in recent debates over the nature and significance of the current processes of change affecting contemporary capitalism. This lack of attention means that we have little detailed knowledge about how the various industries that comprise the service sector are restructuring their operations and how these processes, in turn, influence broader economic change. This thesis goes some way toward redressing this imbalance by studying the evolving structure of two key sectors of the Montreal tourism industry--hotels and travel agencies. / I begin with an overview of past attempts to understand the changing role of the service sector in developed economies. Despite their weaknesses new political economy frameworks are shown to perhaps provide the best starting point for the development of a more 'services informed' approach to understanding current economic change. / In an attempt to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of applying such approaches to the study of services I first review their ability to explain and predict changes currently taking place in the tourism industry as a whole. This is followed by a discussion of the empirical findings of the thesis based on 103 interviews with managers and owners of Montreal hotels and travel agencies. Environmental management in the hotel and lodge sector in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.Sucheran, Reshma. January 2013 (has links)
The tourism industry has emerged as one of the key economic drivers in Africa and remains as one of the few growth industries in the world. The industry has well-documented, significant socio-economic and environmental impacts, many of which are not positive and result in enduring problems at destinations. This is particularly acute in countries such as South Africa where socio-economic inequities are high and historical patterns of development have resulted in most people being marginal from the tourism sector. The accommodation sector is one of the main players in terms of tourism and benefits the most from this industry. However, very few studies have critically examined this sector in terms of environmental management. It is the lacunae in the research that this study aims to address. The main objectives of the study were to investigate the nature and extent of environmental management in hotels and lodges in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The primary data collection was undertaken via the use of surveys to 60 accommodation managers and 400 hotel guests. In-depth interviews were also undertaken with key tourism industry stakeholders. The main findings of the research indicated that although participants were aware of the detrimental environmental impacts of the accommodation sector, environmental management programs were very much in its infancy. Hotel managers were enthusiastic about environmental management but were unable to implement environmental programs and actions due to a number of challenges and constraints. Environmental issues were also not a high priority for hotel guests in the study. The study concludes that environmental issues in the accommodation sector needs to be re-examined and measures need to be put in place to address the sector’s negative impact on the environment. / Thesis (Ph.D.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, 2013.

In the last two decades, these hotels became more respectful towards the local culture by integrating local cultural elements and construction techniques in their design. The reasons for this shift is directly linked with globalization, increased competition between cities, fierce competition between urban hotels, and changing demands of the global travelers.Among the hotels integrating local cultural values, there is a specific niche that has established their businesses in historical landmark buildings. This thesis will demonstrate the presence of this specific hotel niche through case studies conducted in London and Istanbul. It will examine how the integration of local cultural values may improve the competiveness of global chain hotels. Hawaii government's role in Japanese ownership of Hawaii hotels, 1970-1990LaBarge, Andrea L 12 1900 (has links)
This study examines Hawaiʻi government's role in Japanese ownership of Hawaiʻi hotel, 1970 through 1990. In particular, two questions are analyzed. The two questions are: (1) were Hawaii's government policies immaterial in motivating Japanese hotel investment and (2) were Hawaii's government policies counterproductive to Hawaii's overall economy. With the vast number of state-sponsored studies and with the State Plan becoming law, it would appear that the State was very active in promoting tourism development and the Hawaiʻi economy. However, the research indicates that the Japanese investors were motivated by other factors than by the actions of the State of Hawaiʻi. Although the state's economy grew, the individual tourism worker's income was less than the income in other industries in the state. Thus, the study addresses the effect of tourism on the residents of Hawaiʻi. Even though the State Plan mentioned the importance of the residents, the growth of tourism in the State had negative consequences on many residents. These problems were seen not only in income levels but also in the sociocultural and environmental impacts on the residents. In sum, this study found that the State's policies were inconsequential to Japanese hotel investment, and while the State promoted positive consequences from tourism, there were negative consequences, especially in the long run. / Thesis (Ph.
