The Study of Optoelectronic Characteristics and Charge Generation Mechanism in White Organic Light-Emitting Diode with Tandem Structure

Recently, tandem white organic light-emitting diodes are attracting a great deal of interest due to their potential illumination applications. A tandem structure is a mean two or more electroluminescence units that joined together through connecting units in series. So, we can make sense that the connecting unit has play an important role in this particular structure. In my paper research, the functions of connecting units are usually being considered with two aspects: charge transporting and charge generation. But, it was rarely discussed which function is the key point. Three devices were fabricated in this study : (¢¹) unit device, (¢º) tandem device 1 with connecting layers of Alq3:Li/MoO3 and (¢») tandem device 2 with connecting layers of Alq3:Li/HAT-CN. Base on this two connecting unit structure, we can get a quantifiable data from adopting, carrier transporting and carrier generation and figure out which function of connecting unit in tandem device is the main factor. The unit device has outstanding performance comparing to others fluorescence white OLED. It exhibits a maximum luminance of 49820 cd/m2 at 1755 mA/cm2, the power efficiency of 2.52 lm/W at 20 mA/cm2 and CIE (0.33, 0.33). But the power efficiency decreased to 2.07 lm/W at 20 mA/cm2 in tandem device 1. In order to improve device performance, we choose new material HAT-CN to replace to MoO3. From our result, the tandem device 2 have increase power efficiency from 2.07 lm/W to 2.24 lm/W at 20 mA/cm2, and the maximum luminance reach 71790 cd/m2 at 650 mA/cm2 with CIE(0.30, 0.39). We want to figure out why the power efficiency increased after using HAT-CN in tandem device. So we further designed and fabricated the hole only device, electron only device and capacitance device to figure out the charge transporting and charge generation behavior between these two connecting unit constructed based on Alq3:Li/MoO3 and Alq3:Li/HAT-CN. After analyzing the results of these devices, we found that the charge generating plays a major role in tandem OLED¡¦s performance. In other words, if the more carriers can be generated in the connecting layers, the higher power efficiency in tandem device can be realized.

Grade nine students and policy : perspectives of the school nutrition and physical activity environment

The school environment is often the focus of healthy eating and physical activity policies intended to address childhood obesity. However, students are usually excluded from the development and implementation of such policies. The purpose of this study was to explore grade nine student perspectives regarding: supports and barriers to healthy eating and physical activity at school; strategies for improving the school nutrition and physical activity environments; and potential student contribution to the development, implementation, and evaluation of school-based policies. A qualitative approach utilizing focus groups and photovoice with 30 students from two schools in southern Alberta was used to collect data. Major themes included: access to healthy food choices; teacher influences; peer influences; access to physical activity opportunities; impact of marketing; and conflicting messages. Students can provide valuable insights to policy development, implementation and evaluation. Implications for future research and policy development are reviewed. / xi, 179 leaves : ill. ; 29 cm

The Hard Hat Riot: The Decline of New York City's White Working-Class and the Origins of the Reagan Democrat

This thesis explains how the Hard Hat Riot provides a link between two of the most significant developments in postwar American history: the decline of the white working-class and the rise of the Reagan Democrat. The Hard Hat Riot was the culmination of two decades of local demographic and economic transformations as well as five years of political neglect that marginalized New York City’s white working-class. The influence of the riot, however, extended beyond the city’s five boroughs. The Hard Hat Riot prompted Richard Nixon’s administration to develop a blue-collar strategy for the 1972 election. Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaigns in 1980 and 1984 emulated Nixon’s plan to successfully court the white working-class voters who would be later called Reagan Democrats.

Rational Design, Synthesis, and Evaluation of Inhibitors for the HIV-1 TAT Interacting Protein Tip60

The histone acetyltransferase protein, Tip60, has many important functions in epigenetic regulation of gene expression and DNA repair. Our objective is to design, synthesize, and evaluate potent inhibitors for Tip60. Full-length Tip60 (fl-Tip60) and catalytic domain of Tip60 (cat-Tip60) were expressed in E. coli and purified with nickel affinity chromatography. Quantitative analysis of enzyme activities demonstrated that both enzyme forms had very high activity with the substrate H4. To create new Tip60 inhibitors, various histone H3 peptides conjugated with CoA were synthesized using the Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis and solution phase synthesis protocols. The results from the inhibition radioactive assay showed that the synthetic H3-CoA conjugates inhibited effectively the enzymatic activity of both fl-Tip60 and cat-Tip60; and the addition of methyl groups to the Lys-4 or Lys-9 residue of H3 aided in a 7-9 fold enhancement in potency in comparison to nascent H3-CoA inhibitor.

Är det konstigt att jag blev chockad? : Berättelser om ett brott och om transfeminina personer i svensk offentlig media på 1970-talet

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur det i dagspressen skrevs om Cornelis Vreeswijk och de två transsexuella kvinnor som han misshandlade i februari 1975, genom att analysera artiklarna som berättelser som ämnar tillskriva brottet mening och moral. Dessutom är syftet att undersöka hur transfeminina personer porträtterades i andra artiklar omkring 1970-talet. Frågorna som ställs är ”Vilka berättelser om skuld och oskuld, kön och sexualitet finns det i återberättandet av brottet?”, ”Hur skiljer sig dessa berättelser åt?”, och ”Hur framställs kvinnorna i dessa berättelser? Vad säger detta om den mediala synen på transkvinnor på 1970-talet i Sverige?” Genom en närstudie av materialet ämnar jag besvara frågorna med hjälp av Sara Ahmeds teorier kring cirkulationen av känslor i text, och Stuart Halls teorier kring berättelser som möjliga bärare av konnotativa budskap. Dessutom görs en analys av en av Vreeswijks visor utifrån Ulf Carlssons litteraturvetenskapliga analyser av Vreeswijks låttexter. Uppsatsen struktureras utifrån två identifierade övergripande berättelser, där brottet och händelserna innan beskrivs på något olika sätt. Jag kommer fram till att Vreeswijk i artiklarna rentvås från moralisk skuld genom ett fokus på hans upplevelser, samtidigt som det konstitueras ett hatobjekt jag har valt att kalla ”falska flickor”. Språket som används i artiklarna överensstämmer med andra artiklar där det på olika sätt skrivs om transfeminina personer, samtidigt som kvinnorna i artiklarna om brottet på många sätt beskrivs annorlunda – istället för ”tragiska”, ensamma personer, skrivs det om kvinnorna som att de är (sexuella) ”bedragare”.

Part of this paper is design of new method against SEO spam, its implementation and testing performance of this method upon created testing data.

Hatet och Hatbrotten: Dess offer och förövare i svensk dags- och kvällspress : En kvantitativ innehållsanalys om nyhetsrapporteringen kring hatbrott i Dagens Nyheter och Expressen

Denna studie har som syfte att beskriva hur Expressen och Dagens Nyheter rapporterat om hatbrott under år 2010, 2015 och 2020. I en andra delfråga undersöks i synnerhet den nyhetsjournalistiska rapporteringen om islamofobiska hatbrott under dessa år. Med hjälp av ett mångperspektivistiskt ramverk har journalistisk teoribildning om dagordning, gestaltning och medielogik behandlats genom kritiskt diskursanalytiska ramar med grund i Norman Faircloughs (1995) teoribildning. I ett tvärvetenskapligt grepp där kriminologiska och journalistiska forskningsfält möts operationaliseras studien utifrån en deduktiv ansats. Resultatet av denna kvantitativa innehållsanalys presenteras sedan i korstabeller. Resultatet visar att det skett en förändring i diskursordningen under de år som undersökts. Homofobiska hatbrott har länge dominerat den nyhetsjournalistiska arenan men vi ser nu att rasistiska och främlingsfientliga hatbrott dominerar det journalistiska innehållet alltmer under år 2020. En förändring har även skett när det kommer till brottets art. Tidigare har våldsbrott dominerat dagordningen men under år 2020 har Expressen och Dagens Nyheter skrivit markant mer om hets mot folkgrupp, uttalanden och skildringar. När det däremot kommer till islamofobiska hatbrott ser vi inga större förändringar under den period som omfattas i studien och de diskurser som tidigare forskning visar präglar nyhetsrapporteringen om islamofobi tycks reproduceras. Det är, oaktat detta, svårt att uttala sig om generella mönster då det sällan rapporteras om hatbrott gentemot muslimer. Vår slutsats är att nyhetsrapporteringen i Expressen och Dagens Nyheter är kontextuellt bunden till ämnen som dominerar dagordningen i övrigt där medielogik, gestaltning och inramning samverkar och reproducerar diskurser med vilka vi tolkar och förstår verkligheten. Expressen och Dagens Nyheters rapportering om hatbrott är inte heller inkluderande eller representativt i förhållande till antalet anmälda hatbrott i Sverige. Strukturella fördomar och normer tar sig uttryck i inte bara vad som beskrivs, utan hur det beskrivs.

Functions of the Unique N-terminus of a GCN5 Histone Acetylase in Toxoplasma gondii

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / GCN5 is a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that remodels chromatin by acetylating lysine residues of histones. The GCN5 HAT identified in Toxoplasma gondii (TgGCN5) contains a unique N-terminal “extension” that bears no similarity to known proteins and is devoid of known protein motifs. The hypothesis of this thesis is the N-terminal extension is critical to the function of TgGCN5. Three possible roles of the N-terminus were investigated: nuclear localization, protein-protein interactions, and substrate recognition. Subcellular localization was determined via immunocytochemistry using parasites expressing recombinant forms of TgGCN5 fused to a FLAG tag. Initial studies performed with parasites expressing full length FLAG-TgGCN5 were positive for nuclear localization. Without the N-terminal extension (FLAG-ΔNT-TgGCN5) the protein remains cytoplasmic. Additional studies mapped a six amino acid motif (RKRVKR) as the nuclear localization signal (NLS). When RKRVKR is fused to a cytoplasmic protein, it gains access to the nucleus. Furthermore, we have established the NLS interacts with Toxoplasma importin α, a protein involved in nuclear trafficking. Interaction with importin α provides evidence that the TgGCN5 N-terminal extension is involved in mediating protein-protein interactions. In order to identify additional interacting proteins, FLAG affinity purification was performed on parasites expressing full length FLAG-TgGCN5 and FLAG-ΔNT-TgGCN5. Upon comparing the results of the two purifications, proteins captured with only full length TgGCN5 may be interacting with the N-terminal extension. Full length TgGCN5 affinity purification indicates an interaction with histone proteins, two different homologues of Ada2 (adapter protein reported to interact with GCN5 homologues), and several heat shock proteins. With regard to substrate recognition, the N-terminal extension of TgGCN5 is dispensable for the acetylation of non-nucleosomal histones in vitro. However, the lysine acetylated by TgGCN5 is surprisingly unique. Other GCN5 homologues preferentially acetylate lysine 14 in histone H3, but TgGCN5 exclusively acetylates lysine 18 in histone H3 and has no activity on lysine 14. Taken together, these results argue that the N-terminal extension of TgGCN5 is critical for mediating protein-protein interactions, including those responsible for trafficking the HAT to the parasite nucleus but does not appear to be required for the acetylation of non-nucleosomal histones.
