Evolution im Aluminium-Guss von Fahrwerk-Komponenten

Werkstoff- und Prozessgrenzen beschränken unter Beachtung ökonomischer und ökologischer Aspekte den Leichtbau gegossener Fahrwerk-Komponenten aus Al-Si-Legierungen. Zunächst werden Bauteilgewicht und Wärmebehandlungsprozess als beeinflussbare Hauptbeitragsleister für Emissionen im Herstellprozess identifiziert. Zu deren Verringerung werden abhängig von der Belastungsart mögliche Mindestwandstärken abgeleitet, die für den Kokillenguss um 35 % reduziert werden. Dies gelingt durch Einsatz neuartiger, das Formfüllverhalten verbessernder Oberflächenstrukturierungen von Gießwerkzeugen bei Einhaltung von Konstruktionsregeln. Die Gesamtprozesszeit der Wärmebehandlung kann bei gleichbleibenden mechanischen Eigenschaften um 40 % verkürzt werden. Dabei erfolgt die Charakterisierung des Werkstoff- und Bauteilverhaltens unter dynamischer Belastung bei Parametervariation, da keine Korrelation zu den statischen mechanischen Kennwerten vorliegt.

Réactivité et propriétés mécaniques des interfaces entre un alliage Al-Si et un renfort Fe ou Ti / Reactivity and mechanical properties of interfaces between Al-Si alloy and Fe or Ti reinforcement

L’objectif de ce travail est d’établir des relations entre chimie d’interface et propriétés mécaniques dans les assemblages bimétalliques. Il met en évidence que les mécanismes qui contrôlent le développement d’une interface entre alliage Al-Si et renfort ferreux ou titane ont une influence majeure sur les propriétés mécaniques de cette interface. La caractérisation mécanique des interfaces est réalisée par un test de flexion 4 points sur des lames bimétallique élaborées par aluminiage au trempé sur lesquelles un raidisseur est rapporté par collage ou surmoulage. L’évolution de la chimie de la zone de réaction interfaciale est provoquée par un traitement thermique à 535°C à différents temps. La caractérisation des zones de réaction ainsi que des chemins de fissuration est réalisée par diffraction des rayons X et microsonde électronique. Pour les interfaces Fe/A-S7G03 brutes d’élaboration, avant traitement thermique, l’analyse des essais mécaniques conduit à l’obtention d’une valeur du taux de restitution d’énergie de 23 J/m2 qui correspond à la propagation d’une fissure dans la phase η−Al5Fe2(Si). En ce qui concerne les interfaces Ti/A-S7G03, leur force n’a pas permis la propagation d’une fissure dans les conditions de l’essai. A la suite d’un traitement thermique à 535°C, les interfaces Fe/A-S7G03 sont fragilisées par le mécanisme de croissance de la couche de réaction interfaciale qui conduit à l’apparition de porosités Kirkendall en son sein. A l’inverse, dans le cas des interfaces Ti/A-S7G03, aucun affaiblissement de l’interface n’est associé au traitement thermique en raison d’un mécanisme de croissance différent. / The objective of this work is to establish the relationships between interface chemistry and mechanical properties in bimetallic assemblies. It proves that the mechanisms which control the development of an interface between Al-Si alloy and titanium or ferrous reinforcement have a major influence on the mechanical properties of this interface. The mechanical characterization of these interfaces is performed by a 4-point bending test on the bimetallic plates elaborated by hot dip aluminizing on which a stiffener is joined by bonding or overmolding. The chemistry evolution of the interfacial reaction zone is induced by a heat treatment at 535 °C at different reaction times. The characterization of reaction zones and the crack paths is performed by X-ray diffraction and electron probe microanalysis. Before heat treatment, the analysis of mechanical tests performed on Fe/A-S7G03 interfaces leads to a value for the energy release rate of 23 J/m2 which corresponds to a crack propagation in the η- Al5Fe2 (Si) phase. As regards the Ti/A-S7G03 interfaces, their strength did not allow a crack propagation under the test conditions. After a heat treatment at 535°C, the Fe/A-S7G03 interfaces are weakened by the growth mechanism of interfacial reaction layer which leads to the appearance of Kirkendall voids within it. Conversely, in the case of Ti/A-S7G03 interfaces, the heat treatment is not associated with any weakening of the interfacial zone because of a different growth mechanism.

Vývoj metod in-line tepelného zpracování / Developement of In-Line Heat Treatment Methods

In-line heat treatment is a part of technological process uses a phase and structure changes to obtain required mechanical properties. Heat treatment of rolled products offers a reduction of steel making costs and a creation of new steel products. For example the TRIP steel is a part of modern steels which is used in the automobile industry for higher safety of passengers. The heat treatment is often described in the literature. But the authors are often focused on the method how to get the required structure and mechanical properties for different metallic materials. Nevertheless just few articles are focused on the technical observing of temperature regimes and which parameter is necessary to consider during designing the cooling section. Eight parameters were tested by the experimental way to examine their influence on the cooling intensity. They were: gravity (orientation of the cooled surface), coolant pressure, amount of coolant spraying on the surface (the flow rate), rolling velocity, nozzle configuration, kind of nozzles (full cone or flat fan nozzle), coolant temperature and the surface quality (surface roughness and scales). All these parameters have an influence the heat transfer coefficient. Based on knowledge gained in this work was created the cooling section, which comply with the required cooling temperature regimes.

Il est maintenant établi que les facteurs alimentaires participent à la survenue des maladies inflammatoires chroniques de l’intestin (MICI). Le traitement thermique des aliments génère des substances néoformées telles que les produits de Maillard (MRPs) dont les effets sur la santé sont controversés. D’autres contaminants retrouvés dans les aliments sont issus des emballages. L’ensemble de ces molécules ont été associées à des réactions inflammatoires mais peu de données existent sur leurs conséquences sur la sphère digestive. L’objectif de cette thèse était d’étudier l’effet du traitement thermique des aliments sur la modulation d’une colite chez la souris. Dans un premier temps, nous avons dosé quelques marqueurs des MRPs dans deux régimes : peu et fortement chauffés. Ensuite, nous avons évalué l’impact de ces matrices sur la réponse inflammatoire chez des souris soumises à deux modèles de colites (DSS, TNBS). Enfin, nous avons observé les conséquences de l’effet cumulé de l’ingestion de MRPs et d’un contaminant d’emballage (le phtalate DEHP) chez les animaux atteints d’une colite. Le niveau de traitement thermique de la matrice était proportionnel aux teneurs en produits avancés et terminaux de la réaction de Maillard. Un fort traitement thermique a permis de prévenir la réponse inflammatoire chez les animaux soumis aux colites mais nous n’avons observé aucune modification de la réponse inflammatoire colique suite à l’ingestion couplée de MRPs et de DEHP. A terme, ces résultats descriptifs pourraient, sous réserve d’en identifier les mécanismes, servir à l’élaboration de recommandations nutritionnelles pour les patients souffrant de MICI. / It is acknowledged that alimentary factors participate in the etiology of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). On the other hand, food heat treatment generates neoformed compounds such as Maillard Reaction Products (MRPs) with controversial effects on human health but also results in contamination coming from packaging. All of these compounds are incriminated in inflammatory reactions but there are few data related to their consequences on gut. This work was aimed at determining the effect of food heat treatment on the modulation of an experimental colitis in mice. At first, we assessed some markers of MRPs in two moderately and highly heated diets. We then evaluated the consequences of these diets on the inflammatory response of animals submitted to two models of experimental colitis (DSS, TNBS). At last, we observed the consequences of cumulative effects of oral repeated exposure to MRPs and to a packaging contaminant the phthalate DEHP in DSS colitic mice. We revealed that the thermic level treatment was proportional to level of advanced and terminal MRPs and that the highest heat treatment resulted in the prevention of both the colitis models. By contrast, we observed no change in the inflammatory response following the coupled exposure to DEHP and the highly treated diet. While being descriptive, those results are promising and, after understanding the mechanisms involved, could be of interest in the conception of nutritional recommendations for IBD patients.

Modelamento numérico-computacional das transformações de fase nos tratamentos térmicos de aços. / Modelling of phase transformations in heat treatment of steels.

Neste trabalho, propõe-se um modelo numérico-computacional representativo dos processos de tratamento térmico, que seja uma ferramenta eficiente e forneça meios para um entendimento efetivo do mecanismo de geração de tensões residuais durante a têmpera de aços. Foram investigados os fenômenos térmicos, mecânicos e de transformação de fase observados na têmpera, bem como o acoplamento entre esses três fenômenos. O modelo utiliza o Método dos Elementos Finitos (MEF) e o programa ABAQUS®, além de rotinas numéricas em FORTRAN responsáveis pela resolução do problema termo-mecânico-microestrutural acoplado. A utilização de sub-rotinas, que implementam uma alteração na formulação (matemática e numérica) do programa de Elementos Finitos, permite incluir no modelo as informações presentes em uma curva CRC (curva de resfriamento contínuo) do aço SAE 4140, implementando o cálculo de deformações da peça simulada de modo incremental e cumulativo. Os resultados mostram que a utilização das sub-rotinas desenvolvidas neste trabalho permitiu implementar, conjuntamente com o programa ABAQUS®, o cálculo das frações volumétricas, durezas, distorções e tensões que surgem em um tratamento térmico de têmpera, simulando as transformações martensítica, perlítica, bainítica e ferrítica. Os resultados dos modelos foram equivalentes aos relatados pela literatura, principalmente no que se refere às durezas e tensões associadas a cada transformação de fase. Em particular, os resultados indicam que a transformação martensítica está sempre associada à formação de tensões compressivas. Ensaios experimentais foram realizados a fim de validar os modelos computacionais propostos, utilizando-se um teste Jominy adaptado e instrumentado, de modo a permitir a amostragem da variação de temperaturas no material. Ensaios metalográficos permitiram correlacionar as frações volumétricas transformadas durante a têmpera do corpo de prova Jominy aos valores calculados pelo modelo numérico acoplado. / The objective of this work is to analyze residual strains and stresses and volumetric expansion due to phase transformations that occur during quenching of a steel body, as well as to predict these phase transformations. The coupled thermo-mechanical-phase transformation problem was analyzed, specifically in terms of the quenching process. Different computational models were presented, based on the finite element software ABAQUS® and on the use of FORTRAN subroutines. The continuous-cooling-transformation (CCT) diagrams of SAE 4140 steel are represented differently in each model, depending on the transformed phases and correspondent volumetric expansion. These subroutines include information from the CCT diagrams of SAE 4140 into a FORTRAN code. The subroutine calculates all the microstructures resulting from quenching (ferrite, pearlite, bainite, and martensite), depending on cooling rate. The numerical analysis conducted in this work provided results in terms of the temperature and stresses developed during quenching. The properties determined in this work are hardness, yield strength, volumetric fraction and distortion. Hardness has been predicted by the use of analytical equations. The finite element analyses were able to explain and reproduce phenomena observed during quenching of a steel cylinder. In particular, numerical results indicated that martensite formation is always related to a compressive stress field. The results of the models are in qualitative agreement with data provided by literature, particularly, in relation to the stresses originated by each different phase transformation during quenching process. Experimental testing was conducted, based on the analysis of the quenching of a Jominy probe, in order to validate the computational model developed in this work.

Chez les parasitoïdes, le succès reproducteur n’est pas seulement de permettre une perpétuation de l’espèce il est aussi très important pour la lutte biologique contre les insectes nuisibles. Donc, il est essentiel que la population se développe durablement et produise des descendants fertiles. Au cours de leur vie, à cause de leur petite taille, les parasitoides doivent faire face aux contraintes écologiques (biotiques et abiotiques) qui peuvent agir directement ou indirectement sur l’individu, impliquant des changements morphologiques, physiologiques ou comportementaux qui, à leur tour, affectent la survie et notamment le succès reproducteur d’individus. L’objectif général de cette thèse était de mieux comprendre les conséquences des contraintes écologiques sur la reproduction à partir d’un ectoparasitoide Anisopteromalus calandrae. Nos résultats montrent que la décision de ponte des femelles parasitoïdes est liée à la densité en hôtes qui affecte à la fois la taille des individus et leur fitness avec comme conséquence une augmentation du nombre de mâles dans la descendance. D’autre part, le stress thermique appliqué soit au stade nymphal ou adulte cause des effets négatifs sur la survie et une diminution du stock de spermatozoïdes est également observée. / In parasitoids wasps, reproductive success not only perpetuation of the species, it is also a very important factor for biological control against pests, since it is essential that the population grows and sustainably produce fertile offsprings. During their lives, because of their small size, parasitoids face ecological constraints (both biotic and abiotic) that may affect directly or indirectly the individuals, involving changes in their morphology, physiology or behavior, which in turn, affect the survival and reproductive success. The overall objective of this thesis was to better understand the consequences of the ecological constraints on reproduction in the ectoparasitoid wasp Anisopteromalus calandrae. Our results show that the parasitoid females’ decision to lay eggs is related to the host density that affects both the offspring’s size and fitness, consequently increasing the number of males in the offspring. On the other hand, the thermal stress applied to the pupae or adults had negative effects on survival and decreased the quantity of sperm. Moreover, stressed males are less successful competitors.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver potenciais materiais para aplicações automotivas, em particular como insertos para assento de válvula em motores de combustão interna à gasolina. O desenvolvimento compreendeu as etapas de processamento dos materiais via metalurgia do pó, tratamento térmico, caracterização microestrutural e mecânica, usinagem e desgaste dos mesmos. O desenvolvimento objetivou principalmente a redução de custo e a aplicação de elementos menos poluentes, excluindo-se, por exemplo, a aplicação do Co devido ao seu alto custo e do Pb devido aos seus efeitos toxicológicos e prejudiciais ao meio ambiente. A realização de uma pesquisa minuciosa na busca de patentes relacionadas indicou que os materiais estudados apresentam composições particulares, e, portanto inéditas. Os resultados encontrados nos ensaios de dureza e de resistência à compressão radial nas amostras tratadas termicamente apresentaram resultados superiores aos da liga comercial atualmente em uso. Testes de usinabilidade em amostras sem tratamento térmico apresentaram comportamento similar ao da liga comercial, indicando que a usinabilidade do material praticamente não foi afetada com a mudança na composição química. Após a etapa de tratamento térmico, as ligas obtidas apresentaram valores de esforços de corte superiores aos do material comercial. Os resultados dos testes de desgaste abrasivo em amostras tratadas termicamente apresentaram menores valores de coeficientes de atrito e perda de massa em todos os casos em relação ao material comercial. Este comportamento é devido aos benefícios introduzidos pelo tratamento térmico executado e pela adição de alguns elementos resistentes ao desgaste na forma de carbonetos de Nb e Ti/W. Os resultados dos esforços de corte apresentaram boa concordância com os resultados dos ensaios de desgaste. Os materiais produzidos apresentam-se como potenciais candidatos para substituir, com vantagens, inserto para assento de válvula a base de Fe-Co em motores de combustão interna a gasolina. / The aim of this work was the development of materials for automotive applications, in particular, valve seat inserts for gasoline combustion engines. The development involved the following activities: processing by powder metallurgy techniques, heat treatment, mechanical and microstructural characterization, machining and wear of materials. This work was undertaken aiming cost reduction of this component by the use of cheaper and less pollutant elements, eliminating the presence of Co and Pb due to their high cost and toxicological effects, respectively. The accomplishment of a thorough research into patents revealed that the materials studied here present particular compositions and were not yet produced. The results of hardness measurements and the transverse radial strength of the studied materials, after heat treatment, revealed superior properties than the commercial alloys applied at the moment. The machining tests of the material without heat treatment indicated a similar behaviour in comparison to the commercial alloy, suggesting that the new alloy chemistry composition was not deleterious in this sense. After heat treatment, the obtained alloys presented a cutting force increase in relation to the commercial alloy. Wear tests results of heat treated materials presented smaller friction coefficient and mass loss than the commercial alloy, in all cases. This was especially achieved due to the advantages offered by heat treatment allied to the addition of NbC and Ti/W carbides. The materials obtained here showed to be potential candidates to substitute with advantages, valve seat inserts made of Fe-Co alloys for gasoline combustion engines.

Estudo do processo de dobramento a frio de grampo para feixe de mola / Study of cold work process at U-bolts for leaf spring

O aço SAE 1552 modificado é um desenvolvimento recente da família do aço carbono manganês ligado ao silício, sendo utilizado para confecção de grampo U que tem como finalidade prender o feixe de molas no eixo do veículo. A somatória das fases de produção dessa matéria prima introduz os limites de resistência mecânica final necessária para atender a classe de resistência normativa. A peça produzida com esse aço tem alcançado crescimento de utilização na indústria automotiva devido à mesma apresentar propriedades mecânicas que atendem a requisitos normativos de classe de resistência e com vantagem de evitar tratamento térmico na fase de confecção do grampo e sendo esse processo realizado a frio em todas as suas fases. O objetivo desse trabalho foi estudar falha de grampo na etapa do processo de dobramento em forma de U e aplicar ensaios como: programa de simulação de tratamento térmico Stecal 3.0, ultrassom, fadiga, teste de cela e análise de fratura para solucionar essas falhas. Também foi realizado ensaios para prever fraturas catastróficas como: elementos finitos através de programa de computador Abaqus, ensaio de extensometria, tenacidade a fratura e medições de tensões residuais através de técnica de difração de raios-x. Foi concluído através dos resultados dos estudos de microestrutura resultante de tratamento térmico da matéria prima que o processo com resfriamento controlado em esteira é mais adequado para a produção do aço para confecção de grampo. O ensaio de ultrassom antes e após ensaio de fadiga possibilitou dimensionar o crescimento da profundidade da trinca em cotovelo de grampo e através de elementos finitos e extensometria associado com mecânica da fratura foi possível conhecer as tensões em ponto de estudo e entender o motivo de não ocorrer falha catastrófica. O ensaio de difração de raios-x permitiu o entendimento das tensões residuais introduzidas na peça de estudo. / SAE 1552 steel modified is a recent development of manganese carbon steel group linked to silicon, which is used to manufacture u-bolt that aims to fix leaf spring at vehicle axle in the back part. The sum of production stages of this raw material introduces the final mechanical resistance limits to meet class rules resistance. The piece produced with this steel has achieved growth of use in the automotive industry due to the mechanical properties it presents, which meet regulatory requirements for strength class and the advantage of avoiding heat treatment during manufacturing of the u-bolt and all the phases of this process are carried out in cold. This work aims to study the u-bolt failure during the folding process in the form of U and apply tests such as heat treatment simulation -Stecal 3.0, ultrasonic test, fatigue test, cell testing and analysis of crack. Other tests have been carried out to predict catastrophic fractures such as: finite element through computer program called Abaqus, extensometry testing, toughness testing for fracture and residual stress measurement by X ray diffraction technique. Results of heat treatment studies, by microstructure analysis, allowed choosing appropriate process for steel production. Ultrasonic testing before and after fatigue testing enabled to measure growth of crack depth on u-bolt elbow, and through finite element and extensometry testing associated with Mechanical of Fracture it was possible to know the stress concentrated at a point and to understand why catastrophic failure did not occur. Residual stress understanding has provided overall vision of u-bolt studied and contributed to have precision in measurement at inner and outer part of the u-bolt elbow.

Os resultados encontrados nos ensaios de dureza e de resistência à compressão radial nas amostras tratadas termicamente apresentaram resultados superiores aos da liga comercial atualmente em uso. Testes de usinabilidade em amostras sem tratamento térmico apresentaram comportamento similar ao da liga comercial, indicando que a usinabilidade do material praticamente não foi afetada com a mudança na composição química. Após a etapa de tratamento térmico, as ligas obtidas apresentaram valores de esforços de corte superiores aos do material comercial. Os resultados dos testes de desgaste abrasivo em amostras tratadas termicamente apresentaram menores valores de coeficientes de atrito e perda de massa em todos os casos em relação ao material comercial. Este comportamento é devido aos benefícios introduzidos pelo tratamento térmico executado e pela adição de alguns elementos resistentes ao desgaste na forma de carbonetos de Nb e Ti/W. Os resultados dos esforços de corte apresentaram boa concordância com os resultados dos ensaios de desgaste. Na produção do etanol a etapa mais importante e crítica é a fermentação, por isso, há necessidade de focar a atenção ao processo e contaminações. Os contaminantes bacterianos de maior presença nessa etapa são os Lactobacillus. Com essa preocupação os objetivos deste trabalho são mostrar alternativas a redução desses contaminantes sendo eles no caldo ou no fermento (leveduras). Para isso amostras de caldo de cana-de-açúcar contaminados in vitro, individualmente, com sete diferentes espécies de Lactobacillus foram submetidas ao tratamento térmico visando confirmar a sensibilidade das mesmas à temperatura da água em ebulição. Amostras do caldo de cana-de-açúcar foram colocadas em uma cuba de clarificação com a água em ebulição. Foram retiradas amostras em diferentes tempos (0, 2, 3, 4 e 5 minutos) para que realizasse contagens (UFC/mL). Como já era esperado, as bactérias em questão se mostraram sensíveis à altas temperaturas não sobrevivendo por mais de 4 minutos. E com isso levantou-se a hipótese destas estarem presentes em dornas de fermentação devido à falhas de processamento (como uma clarificação ineficiente) e recontaminações posteriores. O projeto teve como objetivo também buscar uma alternativa ao tratamento ácido (ácido sulfúrico), utilizado como forma de descontaminação das leveduras (fermento). Foram utilizadas diferentes soluções alcoólicas (15, 20, 25, 30 e 35 % v/v) e em diferentes pH (2,5 e 6,0). Estas foram contaminadas, individualmente, com as mesmas sete diferentes espécies de Lactobacillus para verificação de sua sensibilidade ao etanol. Nos tempos (0, 30, 60, 90 e 120 minutos) foram retiradas amostras para contagens (UFC/mL). Os Lactobacillus se mostraram sensíveis ao etanol sendo mais evidente a concentrações maiores que 20% v/v. / In the ethanol production the most important and critical stage is the fermentation, therefore the necessity of focusing the attention to the process and contaminations. The contaminants of bigger presence in this stage are the Lactobacillus. With this concern the purpose of this work are shown alternatives to these contaminants. For that, samples of sugar cane broth contaminated in vitro, with seven different Lactobacillus species were subjected to the thermal treatment aiming to confirm the sensitivity of them at temperature of boiling water. Samples of sugar cane broth were placed in clarification vat with boiling water and were withdrawn in different times (0, 2, 3, 4 and 5 minutes) so that it carried out counting (UFC/mL), checking the sensitivity of microorganisms to temperature. As was expected, the bacteria in question were sensitive not survive for more than 4 minutes. And with that raised the possibility of they were present in fermentation tanks due to the failure of processing (like an inefficient clarification) and subsequent recontamination. The purpose of the project is also find an alternative to acid treatment (sulphuric acid), used as decontamination form of the yeast (leaven). Were used different alcoholic solutions (15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 % v/v) and in different pH (2,5 and 6,0). These were contaminated (separately) in laboratory with the same seven different lactobacillus genus for checking their sensitivity to ethanol. At times (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes) samples were withdrawn for counts (UFC / mL). The Lactobacillus were sensitive to ethanol, being more evident at 20% v / v.
