12	Heckscher-Ohlin Model - Theory and Empirical Performance / Heckscher-Ohlinův Model - Teorie a Empirie Ando, Juraj January 2008 (has links) The thesis is concerned with one of the building blocks of the classical theory of international trade, known as the Heckscher-Ohlin (H-O) model. It consists of two parts -- in the first one, the model is briefly introduced and related theorems - theoretical extensions of the model - are presented. This introduction is then followed by a discussion on the empirical performance of the model. In the second part, the factor price equalization theorem, closely related to the original H-O model, is both theoretically and empirically analysed.

Los dos primeros artículos intentan rellenar esta brecha utilizando un modelo de comercio híbrido de Ricardo-Heckscher-Ohlin y datos bilaterales de comercio sectorial. Se brinda un conjunto comparable de productividades para sectores industriales en más de sesenta países en todas las etapas de desarrollo, y las estimaciones se aplican para probar teorías de desarrollo que tienen implicancias sobre el patrón de productividades sectoriales entre países. El tercer artículo se enfoca en los efectos de la liberalización comercial sobre la estructura productiva de los países. Se estiman matrices de transición que describen la dinámica de especialización en economías liberalizadas. Types of intra-industry trade are identified, and theoretical models of intraindustry trade under conditions of imperfect competition are examined. The results of thirtyseven empirical studies on the determinants of intra-industry trade are analysed. Methods of measuring intra-industry trade and marginal intra-industry trade are discussed, and various measurement problems are dealt with. The extent of intra-industry trade in South Africa in 1992 and 1997 is measured, using the Grubel-Lloyd and Michaely indices. The BrUlhart indices are applied to measure marginal intra-industry trade.
