Attitudes of mobile home owners toward mobile home parks

Contractor, Roda January 1972 (has links)
Planning is concerned with understanding and relating to the needs of various segments of the population. Thus it is imperative that planners should comprehend the views of any group which falls within their administrative or regulatory jurisdiction. This study has undertaken to examine the attitudes of mobile home owners toward the park in which their mobile home is located. Responses to a questionnaire by 281 residents living in a total of 31 parks were used as the primary source of information. Utilizing multivariate analytical techniques, the study investigated, first, the dimensions involved in mobile home living and, second, the relationship between resident satisfaction and physical and social characteristics of the mobile home park. Physical park characteristics that were examined included: size and age of the mobile home park; services and facilities within the park; size of lots; location of the park. Social characteristics of the park included resident perception of: differences between conventional single family neighborhoods, and mobile home parks; degree of friendliness of park dwellers as compared to residents of other types of neighborhoods; constraints on social interaction outside the park because of distance from other residential neighborhoods and/or community facilities; constraints on social interaction outside the park due to negative attitudes of non-park dwellers. In addition, information concerning attitudes toward rules and regulations as well as the extent of resident interaction within the park was sought out. A number of conclusions emerged from the study which are considered to be useful to planners in making future decisions concerning mobile home parks. These conclusions indicated: the minimum size for development of a satisfactory park; those park features that account significantly for resident satisfaction; the role of the municipality in the development of mobile home parks; the appropriate location for mobile home parks. Finally, a number of questions were raised that were considered to require further research. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Community and Regional Planning (SCARP), School of / Graduate

The experiences of elderly people living at home related to their receiving meals distributed by a municipality in Sweden

Pajalic, Zada, Persson, Lena, Westergren, Albert, Berggren, Vanja, Skovdahl, Kirsti January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to describe the experiences of elderly people, living at home who receive hot meals that are distributed by their municipality. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyse the (n=13) interviews. The results showed that feelings of dependency, loneliness and gratitude were expressed by the participants in the study related to their meals being delivered home. Dependency was expressed as not having influence over the food products the meals were made from. Loneliness was expressed as being isolated and being confined at home alone due to difficulties getting out of the house, which was associated with the costs of taxis transportation. Gratitude was expressed by the sincere thanks for the possibility of receiving traditional meals delivered daily. The major conclusion of the study was the indication that greater attention should be paid to meet both the practical and psychological needs of elderly people.

Kvarboende i hemmet vid demens : konsekvenser för anhöriga som vårdar / Remain living at home with dementia : Consequences for family caregivers

Persson, Eva-Lotta, Eriksson, Pia January 2016 (has links)
In Sweden remaining living at home principle means that the older sick individual should have the opportunity to stay in their ordinary home with the    help of home care services or relatives. The family members often act as a caregiver and is a prerequisite for remaining living at home for people with dementia. Reports show the difficulties and increased burden for the relatives. The aim of the study was to investigate the consequences remaining living at home can have for relatives of the person with dementia. Method: An integrated literature study was used as a method. After selection and quality assessment remained twelve articles used in the result. Eleven articles were quantitative and one article were a mixed approach. The results revealed four categories: Family caregivers felt burden, Caring were turned into mental illness, BPSD impact on family members' quality of life, Taking  care from outside health providers. Conclusion: The duration of the treatment process as well as the person with dementia had BPSD was relevant to whether carers developed sense of burden, mental illness and were in need of outside help. Education and support for carers in the early stage of the illness, may help family caregivers to give informal caregiving longer in regularhousing.
