Representaciones sociales del vínculo de pareja homosexual en personas de orientación homosexual / Social representations of the homosexual bond in Homosexual guidance people

Sarmiento Lee, Stephany Valeria, Sarmiento Rojas, Santiago Manuel 16 August 2019 (has links)
The city of Lima presents a strong rejection of the rights of homosexual couples, in which movements have been created to seek approval at the legislative level, but there are still oppositions. From the above, it is intended to analyze three social representations of the homosexual couple bond in homosexual persons. It is a hermeneutical investigation with a thematic analysis. The participants are 3, whose ages are between 26 and 29 years, were selected according to the way in which they faced their homosexuality. Individual interviews were chosen to analyze the social representation of the homosexual couple's relationship. The results reveal that the representation of the homosexual couple that the participants have is based on the traditional model (man and woman), because of the stigmatization and prejudices that society presents, which provides them with difficulties towards the attempt to establish a stable and healthy couple bond. The results are discussed considering empirical research. This study could start new research. / Tesis

Metal signals and labour market disadvantage: Empirical evidence on visible body piercings and gay men in the UK

Cameron, Samuel, Collins, A., Hickson, F. January 2009 (has links)
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of visible body piercings (VBP) in explaining the extent of self‐reported workplace sexual orientation discrimination. Design/methodology/approach – Using the 2002 wave of the UK Gay Mens’ Sex Survey, OLS and logit equations are estimated to analyse the extent of self‐reported denial of job opportunities. Findings – The possession of visible body piercings is shown to increase the level of discriminatory activity. There is evidence that tongue piercings are the major contributory type of body decoration. The overall effect is seemingly ameliorated for those gay men who engage in more extensive concealment effort with regard to their sexual orientation. Research limitations/implications – The sample is to some extent self‐selecting, which may affect the results. Further studies using alternative methodologies would be required to explore this issue. Practical implications – This paper sheds light on the importance, or otherwise, of presumed visual clues such as body piercing in triggering discriminatory behaviour towards gay men. Originality/value – This is the first study to examine the self‐reported experience of post‐entry discrimination by gay men using a major national survey comprising over 15,000 observations.

Homosexualita v praxi a diskurzu trestního práva, medicíny a občanské společnosti od vydání trestního zákona z roku 1852 do přijetí trestního zákona z roku 1961 / Homosexuality in the Praxis and Discourse of Penal Law, Medicine and Civic Society from the Adoption of the 1852 Penal Code to the Adoption of the 1961 Penal Code

Seidl, Jan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with changes in conceptions of homosexuality and homosexual subculture as of something basically different, as they developed from the second third of the 19th century to the second half of the 20th century among Czech lawyers and physicians, as well as with changes of self-conceptualization of the Czech homosexual subculture itself, having occurred in the same time interval. It focuses mainly on attitudes and efforts of those who aimed at contributing to social emancipation of this subculture or - in times of increased persecution of homosexuality during the Nazi occupation - on the impossibility to carry on such efforts. The thesis is divided in five parts - in the first one, the legal context which provoked the emancipation efforts in times of the 1852 Penal Code being in force (i.e. until 1950) is explained; the next four parts focus on these efforts separately in four distinct periods. Thus, the second part deals with the expansion of the modern concept of homosexual identity in the Czech lands before WWI, the third part deals with sexual reform efforts by liberal lawyers and physicians as well as on emancipatory and political efforts by the homosexual community itself in the democratic First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938), aiming at decriminalization of homosexual acts,...

HBTQ i vårdande sammanhang : Sjuksköterskans kunskap, attityder och erfarenheter

Ejdefjord, Frida, Lundvall, Leonora January 2015 (has links)

Does in Lithuania, comparing with other countries, existing law regulation, ensure the rights and freedoms of sexual minorities?

Šilgalytė, Justina 16 June 2014 (has links)
Komparativní obsahová analýza vybraných vydání gay magazínů LUI a Attitude / Comparative analysis of chosen issues of gay magazines Lui and Attitude

Snížek, Michal January 2014 (has links)
There are many works focusing on stereotypes usually connected with minorities including gays in news and media in general. However, there is no study that would describe the common features of gay media products, especially characteristics of gay magazines. This work analyzes in both qualitative and quantitative way two life style magazines targeted at homosexuals - Czech LUI and British Attitude. First, on their bases the advertisements included are described - of gay and non-gay brands. Further the topics and themes used are pointed out - those that appear at the pages the most often, then the other ones that you can find rather rarely. A query among gay people is added as it proposes another point of view for the result of the analyses. This work also answers to the questing how sexual signs and connections are used in gay magazines and what is the amount of articles that have any sexual signs. The results of this study can be used for further gender media works or as the purpose or building a new Czech gay magazine.

The Psychological and Social Consequences of HTLV-III Infection: Homosexuals in Orange County, CA

Kaisch, Kenneth Burton 01 May 1986 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to identify the psychological and social consequences experienced by homosexual men who learn that they have positive results on the HTLV-III antibody test, but who have not yet developed AIDS or ARC. Employing a census survey of the membership of three California homophile organizations (n=1905), 30 HTLV-III positives and 55 negatives completed a biographical questionnaire, the IPAT Anxiety Scale Questionnaire, the IPAT Depression Scale, and the Coping Strategies Inventory. Results indicate that HTLV-III positives show considerable disorganization after hearing test results, have clinically high levels of anxiety (n=10), and clinically high levels of depression (n=14). Positives were also quite guarded about sharing the results of their testing, and experienced negative effects in social (n=15) and occupational functioning (n=10), and reported pervasive changes in their sexual activity (n=30). Twelve subjects reported suicidal ideation after they heard the results of their testing, but only one subject reported a suicide attempt. The methodological imitations of the study were examined, with an emphasis on the limitations of survey method and difficulties with the follow-up procedures. Speculations to account for the reported behaviors, implications for counseling HTLV-III positives, and suggestions for future research with this population were also discussed.

Moreover, in-depth interviews are conducted with homosexuals to find out their point of view on the portrayal of themselves in the Turkish Daily Press. Finally, the findings of the analysis of the press coverage of homosexuality and homosexuals, and the findings of the interviews are compared.

The provision of library and information services to gays and lesbians in Cape Town’s public libraries

Mfazo, Ncumisa January 2010 (has links)
Magister Bibliothecologiae - MBibl / The research project is based on the belief that Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender(LGBT) people have specific information needs and interests that public libraries should cater for. The philosophical literature of public libraries states that they have to cater for all sectors of their diverse communities without discrimination. The aim of the research study was to gauge if Cape Town’s library and information services (LIS) include gay and lesbian materials in their collection development policies and procedures. It also aimed at finding out if City of Cape Town Library and Information Services (COCTLIS) provide for the information needs of their gay and lesbian users in their provision of information services. The research problem and the review of literature led to the following research questions:• Do the gay and lesbian library user community constitute a special user group with particular information and reading needs?• If it is accepted that public libraries have a responsibility for the special information and reading needs of gay and lesbian library users, how do they cater for these needs?• How do South African public libraries, specifically the City of Cape Town Library and Information Services (COCTLIS), provide for these needs with their collections and their information services?• Are the public library staffs aware of the UNESCO principles in terms of LIS services for gay and lesbian library users? The first two research questions were answered by means of a review of the theoretical and professional literature. The last two questions were answered by analysis of COCTLIS collection development procedures and policy and a questionnaire survey of library staff.A survey was conducted among librarians in charge of collection development in the COCTLIS libraries early in 2009, collecting data by means of a structured questionnaire. The sample comprised 69 libraries of the total 100, with an even spread across the six city library districts and including a mix of “types” of library (regional and community). The findings of the research study echo the agreement found in the literature that the provision of library services to LGBT people is inadequate. City of Cape Town collection development policy does not have any explicit mention of the LGBT user group. The major finding of the survey is an evident gap between stated beliefs and actual practices. The majority of respondents agree that public library collections should cater for LGBT people but in fact they buy very few books or magazines oriented to gays and lesbians. And only 55% indicate that they do consciously consider the needs of gays and lesbians in their book selection. The information services to gays and lesbians appear to be rather thin. Fo example, less than 10% include gay and lesbian oriented information in their community information files and only 37% display gay and lesbian oriented information on their community notice boards. The study provides some evidence that practices might differ according to size and position of library. The research study hopes to make a difference in the provision of gays and lesbians in the City of Cape Libraries. It also hopes to remind librarians of the mandate they have to develop their collections to reflect diversity.
