The aim of this study was to research school counselor’s ways to identify, endorse andprotect students who are at risk to being or is a victim of forced marriage. To fulfill theaim of the study I have interviewed five -school counselor’s through semi- structuredinterviewing about their experiences with students and forced marriage. In this studypower is the theoretical concept which helped analyze the data. The perspectives onpower that this study brings up are suppressive and productive power relations. Theresults of this study are divided into seven categories which I name: To identify studentswho risk being or is a victim of forced marriage, to endorse students who risk being oris a victim of forced marriage, to protect students who risk being or is a victim of forcedmarriage, forced marriage and honor, forced marriage and social rank, forcedmarriage and religion and lastly forced marriage and family. The results of this studyshow that school counselor’s can identify students who is a victim of forced marriageby recognizing the students well being, if the student willingly tells the school counselorthat the student is scared to be forced to marry, if a student is restricted from dressinghow the student pleases or if the student is being controlled by a family member. Toendorse the students the school counselor’s call social services for advice, speak to thestudent’s family members and build a trustworthy relationship with the student. Toprotect the students who are a victim of forced marriage the school counselor’s callsocial services so that social services can take the student away from its home. Oneschool counselor claimed that they together with the student planned to put a metalspoon in the students suitcase, in case the student would be taken outside the country byforce so that the student can’t pass the security guard. The results of this study alsoshow that the school counselor’s had different understandings on why forced marriageis being carried on such as honor reasons, rank reasons, religious reasons or familyreasons.

Dubbelliv i hederns namn : En kvalitativ studie om HBT-personer i en hederskontext

Arikan, Tuba, Kucukgöl, Ebru January 2017 (has links)
Abstract: It has been put on the spotlight and a known fact in Sweden, individuals who live in different honor cultures are exposed to different types of honor oppression. However, there is still very little information about HBT-individuals who live in an honor culture environment and are exposed to honor oppression. The purpose of this study is to create a profound understanding in the HBT-individuals’ experiences with honor and their experiences with identity as HBT-individuals in relation to the honor culture they live in. The study also looks at the possibilities and limitations these individuals mustface every day or at certain times as HBT-individuals in an honor environment. A qualitative method was used throughout the study and the empirical material is based on interviews we made with seven informers. We have used two different interview methods to receive empirical results. The first method is based on a face-to-face interview and the second method is based on chat interviews online. The analysis was examined along the theoretical efforts we used throughout this study such as, social control, honor culture, identity and many more. The results indicate that these informants are at a higher risk of being exposed to different things, such as for example being rejected by their family if they chose to come out and live openly about their sexual identity and not follow the hetero norm that is put in place.

Samverkan kring hedersrelaterat våld : En studie om personalens upplevelser av hinder och förutsättningar för samverkan

Youssef, Nathalie, Ghasemi, Ella January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore and describe how the staff experiences from social services, schools and HVB of collaboration in honor-related violence against young girls. The study is based on six semi-structured interviews. The interviews consist of two staff from the social services, school and HVB. The results of the survey show that the social services, the school and HVB are in need of an increased collaboration and that collaboration is considered a problem area. The obstacles that the staff experience are communication, knowledge, consensus and business domains. The results also highlight that the lack of an action plan on how to work to support, respond to and manage vulnerable girls is unclear and affects collaboration in that there is no common approach with each other. The results collected are confirmed in both previous research and the theoretical starting points. Keywords: Collaboration, honor-related violence, staff, barriers, challenges
