Československá sídliště pozdního socialismu: ideologie, praxe a kritika / Czechoslovak Housing Estates in the Late Socialism: Ideology, Practice, and Criticism

Sirisornpattapon, Ponpassorn January 2019 (has links)
Czechoslovak housing estates built in the last two decades of state-socialism can be viewed as a socialist spatial entity with its own uniqueness and local characteristics specific to the circumstances of socialist Czechoslovakia during the "normalisation" era. These housing estates appeared from the beginning of the 1970s in big cities such as in Prague and Bratislava provided a new kind of living space for the residents. The ideas behind the creation of these estates were not only related to their physical appearance which shows the direct connection to modernist architecture, but also the aspiration of socialist ideologues to make a positive change in the name of socialist modernisation. Although the post-war socialist centralization of the Czechoslovak state and architectural practice endorses the notion of collective endeavour, the construction of housing estates for all as a part of the "building of socialism" program was attacked by contemporary critiques as providing the premises for the citizens' retreat into the private sphere. These estates could be argued to have caused a psychological impact and worked to shape a new lifestyle and mentality of the residents whose lives epitomized the main theme of normalisation-era: the quiet lives away from politics. Different poles of criticism to...

Não-lugares : condomínios horizontais fechados em Goiânia (1990-2006)

Campos, Roberto Cintra January 2007 (has links)
The dissertation describes a critical study of enclosed residential housing estates based on the idea of condominiums as non-places. The focus of this study was condominiums in the city of Goiânia, Brazil built during the period of 1990-2006. It discusses the hypotheses of authors who dedicated their work to understand the contemporary city. Particular attention is paid to the reflections of the distinguished anthropologist Marc Augé. This new form of living in metropolitan areas presents a new morphologic configuration in the urban space characterized by architectural elements such as: manned main gate, security systems, perimeter walls, areas of leisure and gardens/lakes. The closed condominium is a paradise for the middle and high classes which are widely regarded for their high standard of living but are also typified by the artificial existence such as that founded in holiday resorts and thematic parks. They follow the principles of the New Urbanism, a movement of North American origin and inspired on the 19th century, in the conception of the garden-city and the city beautiful movement.

Análise dos conjuntos habitacionais do Programa Minha Casa, Minha Vida na cidade de Monte Alegre de Minas- MG / Analysis of the housing sets of the Program My House, My Life in the city of Monte Alegre de Minas- MG

Pereira, Patrícia Maria de Freitas 14 November 2017 (has links)
The objective this work is to analyze the changes in the urban area of the municipality of Monte Alegre de Minas due to the construction of the housing complexes (Pedra Branca, J Tolendal and Primavera) through the My House, My Life program. This study has a great relevance in relation to the geographical studies, since it can contribute significantly to the understanding of the transformations that the space of the small cities suffer before the implantation of this type of enterprise. In order to carry out this study, methodological choice was made for bibliographical and documentary research concerning housing production policies in Brazil and the role of the State, the importance of small cities in the urban network, as well as Brazilian legislation with an approach to the rights of individuals, emphasizing decent housing as one of these. Another methodological instrument was empirical analysis in the three housing complexes in order to know the reality observed through photographs and satellite images, since they are located in different areas of the city, in addition, technological resources were used for the elaboration of location maps Municipality and set. Finally, information was collected through free testimonials from the families that benefited from the program, as well as from those living in areas near those sites. It was concluded that the PMCMV has assumed a relevant role in minimizing one of the most critical problems of the Brazilian contemporaneity the housing deficit and its incorporation in Monte Alegre de Minas resulted in the modification of the physical and functional space, because some areas initially had only 40 (forty) residences, but with real estate interest and because they were located in an area closer to the central area of the city, they became groups with more than 200 (two hundred) residences, with the presence a small local commerce and basic care services (leisure area and kindergarten) that serves even the other neighborhoods. / Dissertação (Mestrado)

Simulace revitalizace panelového domu se záměrem dosažení mezinárodního certifikátu pro výstavbu budov / Simulation of renovation of block-of-flats building with a focus on gaining an international certificate for building construction

Balúch, Tomáš January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to revitalize the selected type of panel house in the selected locality in order to meet the standards of international certification for the design and sustainable construction of buildings. First, the thesis analyzes the chronological development of the panel housing estates in Brno and compares the individual structural systems that were historically used for panel construction in Brno. Furthermore, the most used certification methodologies are compared and a specific certification is selected for next simulation. The chapter called solution is focused on performing a simulated certification process for design and sustainable construction of selected panel building, in three phases of its revitalization. The hypotheses describing the individual phases of revitalization are intended to confirm or disprove the achievement of this objective, moreover to say the extent of revitalization that has to be done in order to achieve our goals.

Výtvarné umění v prostoru brněnských sídlišť (1945–1989) / Visual Art in the Housing Estates of Brno (1945–1989)

Kořínková, Jana January 2017 (has links)
With special attention being paid to the development in the city of Brno, the dissertation focuses on the issue of applying artworks in Czechoslovak architecture after World War II. The main research questions – Why were in Czechoslovakia after 1945 artworks again integrated in architecture and what strategies were applied in the case of the newly built housing estates in the city of Brno? – are answered in two successive sections. First, the institutional background for application of art in architecture in the light of the events in Brno (1945–1993) is examined; the closing part is devoted to three case studies that illustrate local development in the period of socialist realism, creative release of the1960s and political normalization. The aim is to highlight the complexity of the examined subject and refute a popularly handed down conviction that integration of artworks into architecture in the period of socialism was motivated exclusively by the communist propaganda, and to show that the attempts to create a synthesis of art and architecture were also based both on earlier theoretical considerations about the educational function of art and its effect on humans and the need to improve poor economic situation of artists after World War II.

Bydlení u Kosmonautů a v "centru vesmíru": Každodennost panelového sídliště Jižní Město v Praze v proměnách času / Living Close to the Astronauts and 'in the Centre of the Universe': Every-day Life of the 'Panel Housing' Estate Jižní Město in Prague

Cassi Pelikán, Hana January 2014 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is to record the every-day life, local and collective memory, and relationships of individuals - local inhabitants of the 'panel-housing' estate, Jižní Město, in Prague - towards the specific urban and social space in which they live. The thesis is based on interviews, with the long-term inhabitants of Jižní Město, which were structured to record their lived experience in the housing estate during two consecutive periods in recent Czechoslovak history - the so-called normalisation and post-socialism periods. The interviews were used as an empirical counterbalance to architectural/city planning discourse and Czech media, which has interpreted the legacy of 'panel-housing' estates in a negative way, as the socialist form of housing par excellence. The aim of this thesis is to analyse this discourse, which also reflects how Czech society deals with its communist past, and to compare it with the experiences, evaluations and current challenges in the lives of these long- term inhabitants, living in the biggest Czech 'panel-housing' estate with a bad reputation. Key words: panel-housing estates, Jižní Město, housing, local/collective memory, local/urban identity, everyday life, city, so-called normalisation.
