Paiva, Simone Borges. January 2009 (has links)
We investigate to what extent the actions of mediation of information and reading can influence the acceptance of new media information to the elderly. This was one of the conditions treated by this research. Thus, we discussed how the subject knows and how it interacts with the world. Thus, we see the construction of concepts about the subject, in this case, the elderly and how they can have their lives affected by the reconstruction of its social role. Reading and the actions of mediation permeate all the contexts described in the research, ensuring that regardless of informational support, is the individual's action that determines the role of the support group and community. Thus, we believe that the media act as attractors stages, but are suppressed by the creative processes that emerge from the collective action of individuals / Mestre

Information, systems and water management : Information systems which support water management - cases from rural water supply in Uganda and WFD implementation in the North Baltic River Basin District, Sweden

Quin, Andrew January 2012 (has links)
Successfulwater management implies tackling multi-level governance and improvingintegration between sectors. Sound information and related processes will berequired to support water management decision-making at these various levels.Additionally, considering Principle 10 of the UN’s Agenda 21, actors shouldhave access to information to enable their involvement in shaping watermanagement outcomes. This thesis draws on the results of two separate caseswhere information systems support action: (i) rural water supply in Uganda;and, (ii) water management according to the Water Framework Directive in Sweden.A research approach was formed based on: (a) a model conceptualising how informationsystems support organisational processes which lead to action; and, (b) asystems-thinking methodology. The results reveal that there are numerous, similar challenges to achieving information support for action in both theUgandan and Swedish cases. In both cases, information quantity and quality islimited; consequentially, the use of information to support action is inhibited.Furthermore, not all actors are involved in information system processes; in particular,local-level actors. Overall, there is limited support of strategic decision-makingand weak support of operational, or local, decision-making. The results suggestthat it might be possible to tailor strategic-level information processes tolocal needs, hopefully encouraging active involvement of local actors. Improvedinvolvement, together with a suitable systems approach, could be used to furtherdevelop information systems, improving integration between multiple levels ofgovernance and across sectors – suiting not just the needs ofstrategic decision-making but also the needs of operational, or local,decision-making. / QC 20120822

Military influence tactics: Lessons learned in Iraq and Afghanistan / Lessons learned in Iraq and Afghanistan

Wolfe, Andrea 03 1900 (has links)
xi, 48 p. : ill. (mostly col.) / For most influence attempts in everyday life, success makes life easier and failure is a disappointment, not a tragedy. When U.S. soldiers deployed overseas attempt to influence civilians, however, success can save lives and failure can be deadly. Along with the high stakes consequences of influence attempts, soldiers face the challenges of bridging differences in language, culture, beliefs, and agendas. The current study examined cross-cultural influence attempts made by deployed soldiers, contributing to existing influence research by examining influence attempts in a complex and challenging wartime environment. Survey data from 228 military personnel with deployment experience to Iraq and Afghanistan revealed that empathy, respect, prior relationships, and familiarity with influence targets predicted success. Five influence technique clusters emerged, and use of technique clusters involving resources and positive feelings were more successful than negative tactics. / Committee in charge: Dr. Holly Arrow, Chairperson; Dr. Gordon Hall, Member

Konstruktion av en databas till stöd för kassaflödesvärdering : Construction of a database to support information management for discounted cash flow valuation of corporations

Algotsson, Daniel January 2005 (has links)
When a discounted cash flow valuation is performed, the value of the asset is determined by summarising the predicted cash flows and discounting them with the cost of capital. Logistické procesy a jejich optimalizace / Logistic process optimization

Machová, Marie January 2008 (has links)
Managing the process of a product's development prior to its release is the dominant theme of this graduation thesis. In today's modern turbulent world, businesses compete to be a strong force in the market arena. From start to finish it is necessary to keep the consumer's demands and wants as the driving force when managing the operation. Factors that are critical in the implementation of the operation are working with a manageable portfolio, forecasting unforeseen expenses, profit gains and losses. Purchasing the most recent and efficient software program or electronics to assist in the operation could be more effective but more expensive upfront. On the other hand, purchasing a complex program or electronics will be ineffective if the user is unable to comprehend its complete functions or abilities. Proper and thorough analysis is necessary in foreseeing all possible obstacles to a smooth operation. Presently, it is not uncommon for companies to implement new technology without previous analysis. The result is a rapidly growing demand for a product reliant on this technology to help produce or support it. As a result, they find themselves in a tight spot very soon. Resolving the issue consists of additional and extended analyses of changes and in the reimplementation of the technology, a process that can be slow and tap into an already tight budget. In conclusion, this dissertation surmises that documentation of and organized implementation of processes in a real manufacturing corporation is necessary to improve not only the quality of processes in support of reaching economic targets but also in assuring quality labour performances of all employees.

Herr elitfotbollsspelares upplevelser av socialt stöd under rehabiliteringen efter en svår idrottsskada / Male elite football player's experiences of social support during rehabilitation after a severe sports injury

Zidén, Anna, Söderberg, Amanda January 2022 (has links)
The present study is based on two frameworks; a developed version of Psychosocial Strategies for Different Phases of Sports Injury Rehabilitation by Ivarsson et al. (2018) and the Social Support Theory by Lakey and Cohen (2000). The aim was to examine how male elite football players experienced social support during the various phases of rehabilitation following a severe sports injury. A qualitative design was used where the interview guide was based on above mentioned theories and previous research. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 male elite football players who returned to football post a severe sports injury. Thematic analysis (Braun &amp; Clarke, 2006) was used which generated in four main themes, 13 subthemes and several codes that answer the two issues presented in the study. The result suggests that different experiences were present in the different four main themes. Regarding the first theme (pre-injury), elite football players experienced demands in performing at elite level. The second theme (reaction to injury), showed that the feeling of uncertainty about the meaning of the injury was prominent. The third theme (reaction to rehabilitation) included participants experiencing a gradual decrease in negative emotion and an increase in positive emotions during rehabilitation. Concerning the fourth theme (reaction to return to sport), the participants expressed mixed feelings towards participating in football. Findings of the present study show that male elite football players feel that social support is important during the rehabilitation process, especially emotion and information support. It appears that social support is most important in the second phase of rehabilitation because of uncertainty about the meaning of the injury.
