Insikter i designprocessen : Fem tjänstedesigners åsikter om framtagande och bibehållande av insikter genom designprocessen / Insights in the design process : Five service designer’s views on development and maintenance of insights through the design process

Mårtensson, Ingrid January 2010 (has links)

Vemmenby, Mikael, Helenius, Jessica January 2009 (has links)

Internet is used today as a traditional medium for information exchange and social interaction. One of these is virtual meeting places where people meet and exchange information, socialize and exchange knowledge with each other. The group has chosen to examine the factors affecting the use of web forums, one of the virtual meeting places that exist on the Internet today. And look at how people use the web forum today in the current situation and how to design a web forum.

A survey was conducted to find out how people look at web forums today, 80 people participated, and they got to talk about what they think about different web forums regarding how and why the use these them. Guidelines on how a web forum should be designed were also developed. An interview was also carried out to a specific audience to see if there were special needs and interests that they had, so that we could take that into account in the development of the guidelines that are to be used in the design for this web forum. The group carried out a user tests on a mockup designed to investigate how people would respond and use the web forums of different age groups.

The results showed that many users of web forums today are different between users, depending on gender and age. The use of various web forums depends on that they have different needs and interests. This dose so the layout of the web forum must be directed so as to be adapted for any specific audience. Mainly people used web forums as an information source where you can find answers and ask questions to others. Two factors must be fulfilled for a page to be able to grow, and that is trust and credibility. This can be fulfilled by its members if they can create an identity for them self in the virtual meeting place. It is also important for lurkers on a virtual meeting place that they show commitment, support and encourage members to be active participant. The lurker’s role is an important one when the site goes throw its state of maturity and growth.

Keywords: Web Forum, virtual meeting places, user study.

Repetition av matematikkunskaper med hjälp av IT

Nyberg, Jonas January 2011 (has links)

Omvärldsbevakning på bibliotek / Business intelligence at library

Bernhardsson, Marcus January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this article is to investigate how and from which sources librarians collect information on their profession with respect to factors that are important for their work. In order to achieve this goal, a questionnaire-based survey will be conducted at three medium-sized central-public-libraries in southern Sweden. Using this survey, I wish to answer the following four questions: To what extent do librarians acquaint themselves with changes and developments within regional and cultural policy arenas important to their work? To what extent do librarians acquaint themselves with information using conferences and library debates that are focussed on changes and developments relevant to their work? Do librarians consider that they have enough time within the limits of their work hours to follow developments within the librarian profession, for example with respect to developments within information technology, and how would they appraise the future demand for information technology-based services at the library? From which source(s) do librarians collect information relevant to their work? The theoretical basis of this paper can be compared to a radar as it scans subjects-of-interest to the organization in the field of business intelligence. This investigation uses a quantitative method, with data collected via a survey consisting of 13 questions. Survey questions were drawn up in line with the purpose of this paper. The survey revealed that colleagues do play a significant part in the collection of information. Many librarians also believe that their role will continue to change as the rest of the world changes. Many also think that IT will play a more important role in the future. The respondents were 45 librarians employed on a permanent full-time basis at three similar local public-libraries. There was a 100% response rate to the survey. The results are set out in 13 different diagrams. Furthermore is the results discussed and analyzed.

Kan Hedvig lösa De mystiska tecknen? : en studie av två biblioteksdataprogram för barn / Can Hedvig solve The mysterious signs? : a study of two library computer programmes

Markhouss, Maj-Britt January 1995 (has links)
This thesis examines which function the information technology may have in thechildren's library, with the example from two library computer programmes. One is anexpert system, Hedvig, which will help children to choose and to find books, and theother is a computer game, The mysterious signs, that will teach children library user education. The main question is: What conceptions do the project-leaders, the children'slibrarians and the children have concerning the function of these two programmes in thechildren's library? The study is based upon qualitative interviews with two projects-leaders, fourlibrarians, three computer programmers and twenty-eight children. The theoretical material consists of examples on other library computer programmesfor children developed in Denmark and USA, some American studies in children'sabilities to use computerized information retrieval systems, and studies concerningchildren's relations to computers. The adult's conceptions of the computer programmes are divided into categories asfollows: Democracy, aspect of sex, complement, marketing, reading promotion, development of competence, information technology development, pedagogics, adulteducational activities, compensation and armusement, pedagogics, usefulness, effectiveness and information. These categories shall be seen as the conclusions of the thesis.

Evaluating the Impact of IT Outsourcing in an Organization

Oduose, Godspower, Njinko, Polycarp January 2009 (has links)

ABSTRACT

Date: 16th June 2009

Authors: ODUOSE GODSPOWER ONORIODE (810822-T139)

NJINKO POLYCARP NGANSI (791005-5735)

Title: Evaluating the impact of IT Outsourcing in an Organization.

Introduction: The continuous advancement of technology has increase the intensity of competition between organizations whose operations or core competence is based on information technology. Consequently this has force them to decide to either outsource or insource in order to survive the competition.

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyze the reason for IT outsourcing, the factors to consider before outsourcing, how to manage a successful IT outsourcing and the impact of IT outsourcing on an organization which consists of the advantages (benefits) and disadvantages (risks) of IT outsourcing.

Research question: What are the impacts of IT outsourcing taking into consideration the reasons and factors for its successful implementation?

Method: This thesis combines description with exploration and analysis. We used both primary data and secondary data. Due to time constraint and the importance of detail information for this research, we adopted a semi-structured interview which allows the respondent to give their thoughts and detail insight on some of the questions. Taken into consideration the time allotted to the interview in the research schedule, we were still able to work with articles, books, news release and website materials as secondary data sources.

Conclusion: From the theoretical framework, a lot of emphasis was placed on cost saving or reduction as the reason for IT outsourcing but the empirical study and analysis indicate that the reasons for IT outsourcing is now shifting from cost saving or reduction to organization need to have access to advance technology and expertise although cost saving is still an important reason why organization adopt IT outsourcing.

Moreover, from the theoretical framework and empirical study of this thesis we could deduced that in order to implement a successful IT outsourcing the organization needs to consider some major factors such as identifying the need to outsource (why outsource IT?), what IT activities or infrastructure to outsource, identify the various steps and processes (such as contracts) involve in IT outsourcing, identify potential risks and possible outcome, criteria for choosing the appropriate IT outsourcing vendor and evaluate the down time and time required to find the most appropriate IT outsourcing vendor. We observed that organizations which spent more time in planning the IT outsourcing experience more success rate compared to those who spent less time.

Furthermore, from the theoretical framework and empirical study, we found that IT outsourcing has a major impact on an organization and its impact is dependent on how the factors for its success is managed. Although there are a lot of notable benefits of IT outsourcing but IT outsourcing also entails risks such as the hidden cost, security and confidentiality issues, service quality issues and system or operation disruptions just to name a few. In an attempt to mitigate risk, a company engaging in an IT outsourcing will try to protect its core activities and outsource non-core activities for security and confidentiality reasons. Though companies vary with respect to their operations, they will be optimistic to experience benefits that will outweighs any potential risks or cost in an IT outsourcing since the main objective of any company is to maximize profit and minimize cost.

How does the alignment of IT to business strategy affect the organisation of the IT function?

Agbamuche, Joy January 2008 (has links)

Date: 2008-06-04

Purpose: The primary goal of this research is to describe the IT function and examine how its alignment to an organisations strategy affects the way it is organised.

Method: The chosen method was a purely theoretical examination with the use of the case study of Windham International as primary resource and secondary resources such as book and literature review used for the thesis.

Research Questions: How does the alignment of IT to business strategy affect the organisation of the IT function?

Conclusion: One of the findings was that a few researchers seem to suggest that the centralized mode of organising IT was symbolic of the past, while outsourcing and decentralization are the modern approach to organising IT. Wyndham International shows the opposite, after the introduction of the CIO in 2002, centralization was the chosen mode of organisation because that was what would best fit the new strategic approach of the organisation. Insourcing rather than outsourcing proved to be a winning formula.
