Tool support for software process assessments

Lok, Richard Him 14 October 2008 (has links)
Thesis Abstract Software process assessments are currently being conducted by organisations using de facto assessment standards such as ISO/IEC 15504, ISO 9001, CMM and BOOTSTRAP. These assessment standards require practical tools and support mechanisms to enable them to be effective and efficient in their execution. This thesis is a study of the functional composition of such automated tools and investigates the viability of creating mappings between the software process models that would allow the assessment data to be translated between models. The result is a model for creating automated assessment tools and a methodology for using data mappings to translate and compare assessment data between software process models in these assessment tools.

Programinę įrangą kuriančių įmonių brandos vertinimo ir analizės modelių suderinamumo tyrimas / Research for software process maturity assessment and analysis models compatibility

Styraitė, Asta 16 August 2007 (has links)
Software development teams are confronted with difficulties such as incorrect planned financial and time resources, low product quality and disappointed client. To solve those problems there are methodic and tools to improve software process capability. Tools for software process capability maturity assessment and support are implemented by particular models. Basic supported models are CMMI and ISO/IEC 15504 (SPICE). CMMI model is based on ISO/IEC 15504 standard. CMMI and ISO/IEC 15504 models are compatible. Software process capability maturity assessment quality should increase by using both models together. Consequently was decided to develop a tool supporting two models – CMMI and ISO/IEC 15504.

Software process assessment using multiple process assessment models / Programų kūrimo procesų vertinimas, naudojant keletą procesų vertinimo modelių

Peldžius, Stasys 30 December 2014 (has links)
Many software companies face such problems as projects being behind schedule, exceeding the budget, customer dissatisfaction with product quality. Most of the problems arise due to immature software process of the company. The most popular process assessment models worldwide are ISO/IEC 15504 and CMMI. Companies seeking wider official recognition choose between these two models. Companies face the problem that different customers require process assessment according to different models. Therefore, it is important for companies to have an instrument that would transform company’s assessment results according to one process assessment model to another model without actual reassessment each time. The transitional process assessment model proposed in the dissertation allows the companies in the automotive, defence, space, medical, and other industries to have assessment results according to different process assessment models by performing only single process assessment. The presented method for TPAM development could be used developing transitional process assessment models in other domains. For example, service companies could implement a transitional model covering CMMI-SVC and ISO/IEC 15504-8 assessment models, and companies working in other areas could implement a transitional model covering Enterprise SPICE and FAA-iCMM assessment models.

Procesų brandos lygių pagal CMMI ir ISO/IEC 15504 palyginimas / Mapping of cmmi and iso/iec 15504 maturity levels

Saltanavičius, Danielius 08 September 2009 (has links)
In Master paper there has been taken analysis of CMMI for Developement and ISO/IEC 15504 capability and maturity models, an algorithm of mapping basic elements of the models has been made, mapping of the basic elements of the models has been carried out. Paper also includes evaluation of ISO/IEC 15504 maturity levels(first, second and third) according to the new part of the ISO standard which have been added in the autumn of 2008. The result which has been obtained is unique and never published - the mapping of CMMI for Development 1.2 and ISO/IEC 15504 maturity levels. That mapping can either tell the organization maturity level in terms of ISO/IEC 15504 when maturity of the same organization in CMMI terms is known or suggest what way to choose to assess the organization maturity in case there are not enough data to tell the organization‘s maturity level in terms of ISO/IEC 15504.

As propostas são validadas com análises, aplicações práticas e uma agenda de pesquisa / Abstract: Software process improvement based on the staged architecture¿s fixed maturity levels of SWCMM and CMMI models do not support the diversity of software intensive organizations context and strategic objectives. This research evolves the current process improvement area taking advantage of the flexibility of ISO/IEC 15504 continuous architecture towards a better alignment between an improvement with each organization¿s specific context and strategic objectives, especially of micro and small ones. Three generations of architectures for process capability models (fixed staged, closed continuous, open continuous) are identified. A process capability profile driven, software and any other knowledge intensive human work, process engineering is proposed. An exemplar approach for this engineering is developed, with a set of properties, a unified model, an improvement cycle and a measurement set, as well as a method for establishing process capability profile. These proposals are validated by analyses, practical applications and a research agenda / Doutorado / Engenharia de Computação / Doutor em Engenharia Elétrica

It is the live cell of research in the university environment. However, it is not rare to observe a lack of systematic organization in its management processes to consider a satisfactory integrated vision associating the strategy, mission, people, culture, infrastructure, and mainly knowledge actions. This thesis discusses the motivations, necessities and the basis of a framework for the strategic management of this environment. The proposed framework intends to assist URLabs to place its strategic management into a higher level of maturity. It is a set of 17 individual processes sorted in four main groups to know: strategic management, infrastructure management, knowledge management, and people and culture. Each individual process includes a scope, outcomes, basic practices, and work products. The framework considers the best practices investigated in some URLabs and the technical and scientific literature on knowledge management, research management, organizational management, and capability models. Each process can be placed in one of the five different hierarchical capability level (incomplete, performed, managed, established, predictable and optimizing), according to attributes fulfilled. The proposed framework uses the architecture and some of the most generic processes of the ISO/IEC 15504-5 International Standard as a reference. The ISO/IEC recently published this suite of standards, composed of five parts that provide definitions and requirements to create capability models. Nowadays, there is a tendency to spread the use of process capability assessment and improvement frameworks for different domains of the knowledge. Therefore, the framework for URLabs is in line with the tenor on process capability models. Two different communities validated the framework: the community of managers of research and the community of researchers with experience in process improvement. This framework intends to be useful as a reference to assess and improve strategic management in URLabs. It can also be useful for funding agencies as a formal mechanism to decide on grants for research, based on the URLabs' management capability profile. It is an open proposal that can be adapted and improved for different classes of URLabs in terms of size, focus, and culture / Doutorado / Desenvolvimento de Processos Químicos / Doutor em Engenharia Química
