No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 2144800 bytes, checksum: 85bef00cdcbaf033ae94751b6d93556a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-08-27 / This work proposes the production of an independent journalism website whose articles are written in the light of the Literary Journalism aesthetics, which aims to unite modalities that envisage the new, either in journalism or in the digital world – the website ARRUAR. For this purpose, studies both bibliographical and documental were conducted on the following topics: webjournalism, independent journalism and Literary Journalism. We seek to understand the new possibilities brought by the Internet in Journalism and how it affects the journalistic practice. At the same time, with the emergence of both the digital and independent journalism, we analyse the disruptor movement (CHRISTEN, 2012) attempted by these new journalistic practices. Taking into account the map of independent journalism in Brazil released by Agência Pública, we think about a business model for the website Arruar. Regarding the literary journalism, we present the characteristics of this genre (PENA, 2006; WOLF, 2005) and a brief historical background on the relationship between Journalism and Literature in Brazil and the world. In the methods, we explain the sections held on the website (investigative reporting, profiles, photojournalism and social media content curation) as well as the procedures applied (name choice, site domain, colour, typography, logo, Wordpress use, social media, funding and business model canvas). At last, we present a report about the first articles, as well as layout production, making some considerations on the trodden path and possibilities arising from this new perspective.

Potential of Blockchain and Cryptoeconomics in Developing Independent and Constructive Journalism : Case Study on Steem Blockchain and Steemit Network

Alkhalaf, Khalaf January 2020 (has links)
Advanced Technology drives the increasing anti-censorship, decentralised social media networks, and publishing platforms that are based on blockchain, where no single party can control these platforms, which results in safeguarding information circulation, freedom to publish, and independence of journalism. Furthermore, cryptoeconomics associated with blockchain creates an easy economic model to find sustainable financing for independent journalism by Initial Coin Offering. Meanwhile, adopting a reward system by these publishing platforms has generated sustainable income sources for content creators, allowing them to be independent and motivated to create high-quality constructive content, which contributes to developing communities through disbursing knowledge in forms of constructive journalism.  This study presents the potential of blockchain and cryptoeconomics in developing independent and constructive journalism, especially in developing countries. Through analysing the structure of Steem Blockchain, and empirical analysis of journalistic content on Steemit network in terms of the amount of payout that content creators and curators receive, based on the system of reward according to the content value that is determined by community member voting. Besides selected sample interviews with journalists, writers, and publishers in the Arab World which is undergoing turmoil and transition and needs constructive journalism, asking for their opinions about the potential that blockchain and cryptoeconomics have to support independent and constructive journalism.  The results of the study demonstrated that journalistic posts classified under constructive journalism could achieve a high payout according to the reward system based on community voting for the content value. Meanwhile, journalists and writers have expected that this new economic model can enhance the financial independence of journalists and develop independent and constructive journalism in developing countries.

In a cenario that is stimulating the establishment of self-proclaimed independent Brazilian journalism initiatives, specially on the internet, with small to medium editorial newsrooms, the aim of this study is to analyze, through case studies, how this self-proclaimed independent journalism in digital media is characterized in the Amazon region in the 21st century. The objective of this research, which was conducted in accordance with the main research topic, that is, the Process of journalism production, in the Post-Graduation Program Master’s in Journalism at Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, is: to ascertain the characteristics of the journalistic field of the professionals who created the self-proclaimed independent sites Amazônia Rea e InfoAmazonia; to identify what is meant by “independence” in a context that is defined by new management models; and to gauge a possible relation between aspects of newsworthiness and journalistic independence. What do these self-proclaimed independent initiatives in the Amazon region reveal both about professional culture and underlying professional standards? Does the professional experience of the founders of Amazônia Real and InfoAmazonia influence the management models adopted? Does the establishment of a self-proclaimed independent initiative give the journalist professional authonomy? What type of tensions interfere in the professional practices of these initiatives? For these purposes, this analysis considers the transformation of the journalism market in the 21st century, its repercussions on the professional field and the emergence of new management models. The theoretical principles are based on the social and journalistic fields, hypercompetition, governance and new management models, basic concepts of the definition of possible independent journalism and professional culture, based on bibliographic and documental research. Besides these methodologies, this dissertation uses interviews techniques with the founders of the self-proclaimed independent journalism initiatives Amazônia Real e InfoAmazonia, the representing of Ford Foundation, that directly contributes with Amazônia Real and indirectly with InfoAmazonia, and a systematized analysis of the journalistic products conceived by these organizations. One of the final considerations applies that even though defined by new management models, different from the ones practiced by traditional media, the self-proclaimed independent initiatives need to develop other characteristics that justify the “independence”, like the newsworthiness.
