Den enes skräp är den andres skatt : Förutsättningar för kommersialisering av slaggprodukter från ståltillverkning / One man's junk is another man's treasurePettersson, Fredrik January 2016 (has links)
This is a study of the preconditions for turning the slag produced at Outokumpu Steel in Avesta into by-products. Specifically in which way the continued work should be organized in order to create the best opportunity to reach the goals of lowering the cost for landfill disposal, increasing the level of re-usage in the company and society as well as reducing the usage of virgin materials. The study accounts for the technological conditions and challenges at hand. The biggest remaining challenge will be to find a suitable method for separating metal remaining’s from the slag. All previously identified application areas have been analysed. Slag asphalt and water cleaning are two areas which has been examined in greater detail, while the remaining only been studied briefly. An external analysis has been conducted, where the competing steel manufacturers in Sweden as well as external forces and risks within society have been studied. To analyse the different routes that Outokumpu could choose for the future, an economical analysis of different scenarios and their potential cash flows has been done. Relevant literature concerning organization of innovative businesses is then discussed with relation to the current situation. This leads up to the conclusion that Outokumpu should either negotiate with an external part interested in taking over the commercial part of slag operations and sell them all slag from the Avesta site. Otherwise they should start up their own separate company to handle all the commercialization of all slag, preferably for the entire corporate group.

Hur påverkar olika ledarskapsstilar ambidexterity i revisionsbyråer?Metaj, Shqiponja, Nilsson, Mattias January 2016 (has links)
A prerequisite for audit firms to survive, is focus on both improvement and renewal of services and products. This because companies constantly need to adapt their range of services and products to the external environment fluctuations and changing demands. The purpose of the study is to explain how integrated leadership affects the ability to achieve ambidexterity in accounting firms. The study aims to explore various leadership styles and potential relationships between them and ambidexterity in audit firms. Thru use of relevant theory and adjoining literature regarding integrated leadership and ambidexterity, a model has been produced which examines connections between the current leadership styles and ambidexterity in audit firms. With the help of a questionnaire sent to authorized and approved auditors, the model has been tested empirically. This resulted in 141 responses, with 104 completed responses. The results of the study indicates that none of the tested leadership styles can explain effect on ambidexterity, however, the result shows that authorized auditors have a negative correlation with ambidexterity in relation to approved auditors. Recent research indicates that ambidexterity is affected by factors not being covered in this study. Possibly these factors have stronger effect on ambidexterity than integrated leadership which may be the reason why no explaining relationship has been found on the matter. Regardless what governs ambidexterity audit firms operates in a changing environment, which makes improvements of existing supply important to focus at the same time as new services seem to be needed for long term survival. Knowledge regarding how leadership affects ambidexterity implies that audit firms get a glimpse of what could increase their survival. Through a balance between exploitative and explorative innovation, it contributes to improving the competitiveness of the firms.

Regionalentwicklung durch Innovation und unternehmerische Kompetenzen / Regional development by means of innovation and entrepreneurial competenciesMeier, Janina C. January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Why tend some companies and some regions to be much more innovative than others? According to numerous academic articles the answer to this question lies within existent human capital and within existent and available knowledge. Innovation is driven by people. Why seem the employees of some companies to be much more innovative than others’? In the light of increasing dynamics, more intensive competition and rapid changing values within today’s company’s environment this question gains in practical and theoretical relevance. As a matter of fact the fast growing technological, social, and economic shift increases within innovation projects the anyway consistent rising complexity in tasks and uncertainties in projects. However, this shift holds not only uncertainty, but creates more and more entrepreneurial chances which can be used by either entrepreneurs and founders or employees. Various theoretical studies of the context of innovation concentrate on a factorial illustration of effective conditions for success which have to be established to create a ‘sound’ milieu where people can found firms and shape innovation. Behaviour-driven studies within the context of innovation research show the considerable influence of success factors that are associated with the individual. To find in context a reason for regional development this study quests not only within an explanation reduced to factor equipment of regions; but it spotlights the micro factor human capital in connection with innovation. Therefore it contributes to the explication of the genesis process of innovation by empirical investigating which entrepreneurial competencies within an innovation process are necessary and which resulting strategies of activity entail the innovation teams’ success.

Stratégie d'innovation et capacités dynamiques relationnelles : le cas de l'industrie pharmaceutique / Innovation strategy and dynamic relational capabilities : the case of the pharmaceutical industryLabrouche, Geoffroy 20 June 2016 (has links)
The thesis analyzes the strategic deployment of firms in a High-Velocity Environment through dynamic capabilities. It provides a study of a particular type of dynamic capability – dynamic relational capabilities – through firm’s open innovation strategies in the biopharmaceutical sector. In the first part, we offer a theoretical development of dynamic relational capabilities and open innovation strategies. In this part, we will consider that firms’ dynamic relational capabilities are expressed concretely in open innovation strategies – as a way to manage uncertainty stemming from High Velocity Environments. In the second part, we show empirically the relationship between dynamic relational capabilities and open innovation strategies by studying the case of various firms in the biopharmaceutical industry– Big Pharmas (Sanofi) and biotech start-ups. The thesis shows that in the High-Velocity Environments, managing uncertainty implies a firm’s organizational memory modification through dynamic relational capabilities. Specifically, these capabilities are expressed in open innovation practices. In the biopharmaceutical sector in particular, all kind of firms adopt this type of strategies in order to manage the uncertainty coming from recent evolutions.

Innovationsprozesse in der Medizintechnik in Deutschland / Processes of economic innovation in the German medical device industryPlagens, Manfred January 2001 (has links) (PDF)
The thesis deals with processes of economic innovation in the German medical device industry. Michael Porter`s „industrial cluster model“ is used as the relevant analytical framework to deal with the complex intercourses of the different economic determinants of success. Porter`s model is enhanced by aspects of the New Growth Theory as well as Public Choice aspects that allow the examination of the medical device industry. My main focus lies on the explanation of the interaction between the medical device industry cluster, innovations and the German health care system. It is showed which impact innovations generally have in the German medical device industry and furthermore how a certain institutional and political set-up promotes these innovations. In the next step economic recommodations are deduced from the results of the thesis and there will be a forecast on the future of the German medical device industry. Chapter 1 specifies and explains the concepts „innovation“, „cluster“ and „medical device industry“. In chapter 2 the German medical device industry is examined on its different innovation indicators. Chapter 3 uses Michael Porter`s enhanced economic cluster model as the framework for a qualitative examination of the industry. The main focus lies on the interaction between medical device industry and the German national health care system. Chapter 4 completes the analysis of the competitiveness of the medical device industry by an inter-industry comparison with other successful German industry clusters such as the optical industry. The economic concept of „long waves of innovation“ gives here a helpful completion. Chapter 5 sums up the results of the thesis and gives an outlook on the future of the German medical device industry.

Leadership and innovation at the Department of Justice and Constitutional DevelopmentMashologu, Thembakazi January 2015 (has links)
Thesis (M.M. (Public and Development Management))--University of the Witwatersrand, Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management, Graduate School of Public and Development Management, 2015. / The South African government is having a problem when it comes to innovative leaders due to many contributing factors that constrain the managers within the public sector. The concept of the service delivery requires leaders that are innovative that will take the public sector to the next level. It is, therefore, essential that public employees, in particular managers, be innovative in order to manage public sector duties effectively. The leader is fundamental in planning, leading and controlling resources to ensure effective service delivery.
Public Administration does not operate in isolation, but is exposed to environmental factors such as political, economy, social, technological, environmental and legal. These factors require that public officials, the leadership in particular, display a higher ability to analyse and scrutinise these factors because leadership has an influence on internal departmental operations. The intentions of the South African government by 2030 as stated on the National Development Plan (NDP). The NDP shows intentions that require leaders who will lead in a creative and innovative way as the issues that have to be tackled by 2030 are issues that are in a way concerned with service delivery.
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD) is one of the departments in South Africa that striving to be best performers in the public sector. However, there is a gap that needs to be identified into why it is not amongst the top performers within the public sector.
The methodology used in this study takes the form of in depth interviews with questionnaire designed to identify and measure the leadership and innovation at the DOJ&CD. The study analyzed leadership and innovation, particularly the management leadership, by scrutinizing managers at the higher courts and regional office in Gauteng. Interviews with managers were used to determine the leadership and innovation of managers to lead the higher courts in Gauteng. The study showed that there is a need for the leaders within the public service to be innovative in their areas of responsibilities.
