We interviewed 10 athletes who developed his career in elite sport in Brazil. The research was an exploratory, descriptive and data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed qualitatively. Were grouped into categories of themes that stood out. The main result was the perception and the meaning of pain as a social and cultural product, represented and interpreted in accordance with the group and the webs of interaction set by athletes in the sport environment. The way to deal with it will depend on the "definition of situation" of the athlete. The responses to this phenomenon will be particular to each individual and not a purely biological understand all its complexity. / Este trabalho descreve a percep????o e os significados da dor para o atleta de alto rendimento ?? luz da perspectiva Interacionismo Simb??lico. Foram entrevistados 10 atletas que desenvolveram sua carreira na elite do esporte brasileiro. A pesquisa foi do tipo explorat??rio-descritiva e os dados foram coletados atrav??s de entrevista semiestruturada e analisados qualitativamente. Foram agrupados em categorias os temas que mais se destacaram. O principal resultado deste trabalho foi a percep????o e o significado da dor como um produto social e cultural, representada e interpretada de acordo com o grupo e as teias de intera????o estabelecidas pelos atletas no ambiente esportivo. A maneira de lidar com ela depender?? da ???defini????o de situa????o??? do pr??prio atleta. As respostas frente a este fen??meno ser??o particulares a cada indiv??duo e uma vis??o puramente biol??gica n??o compreender?? toda a sua complexidade.

The study is based on theoretical assumptions of the Medium Theory and Symbolic Interactionism, and make use of mapping as a tool of data gathering. The selection of media organizations analyzed took into account the platforms present in four categories of journalistic products, selecting among the five most widely read of each of them in the Brazilian media - portals, cyberjournals, monthly and weekly magazines - and makes a comparison between devices that mediate or not posts from readers. The result points to some divergent interests that make the relationship between what the Internet users search and what media organization authorizes the reader to do, and also the ignorance, in many cases, on how to exploit the potential of the tool by those involved in the process. / A proposta desta tese ? tentar entender qual a utilidade da ferramenta de coment?rios de leitores nos sites de not?cias nacionais tendo como pontos de partida a estrutura do dispositivo, o modo como o internauta se apropria dela e, por fim, a maneira como o ve?culo d? sentido ao material ali disponibilizado. O estudo utiliza como base te?rica os pressupostos da Teoria do Meio e do Interacionismo Simb?lico e faz uso do mapeamento como ferramenta de capta??o de dados. A sele??o dos ve?culos analisados, al?m de levar em conta as plataformas presentes em quatro categorias de produtos jornal?sticos, selecionando entre os cinco mais lidos de cada uma delas na m?dia brasileira ? portais, ciberjornais, revistas mensais e revistas semanais ?, tra?a um comparativo entre dispositivos que mediam ou os que n?o mediam as postagens dos leitores. O resultado aponta para alguns interesses divergentes que marcam a rela??o entre aquilo que o internauta busca e o que o ve?culo autoriza, bem como a ignor?ncia, em muitos casos, sobre como explorar as potencialidades reais da ferramenta por parte dos envolvidos no processo.
