An enhanced interface analysis method for engineering change managementYildirim, Unal, Campean, Felician January 2013 (has links)
No / The complexity of automotive systems has increased dramatically, driven by the requirement to address environmental and safety concerns and the pressure to offer higher level consumer technologies. This places a great challenge on product development organizations to manage the multidisciplinary systems integration in a reliable and robust manner. Engineering changes, which are integral part of the iterative automotive product development process, need to be managed in a way that efficiently addresses the integration requirements of complex multidisciplinary systems. The aim of this paper is to present a structured approach for engineering change management which is based on an enhanced interface analysis method which aims to identify comprehensively the system integration functional requirements as the basis for both engineering change prediction and support of robust engineering change design. The framework will be illustrated with an industrial case study on the development of an electric vehicle powertrain. The effectiveness of the proposed approach will be discussed in contrast with other methods for engineering change management.

Affordanslandskapet i digitala hälsoappar : En gränssnittsanalys av Ella, Leia health och Numa / The Affordance Landscape of Digital Health Apps : A User Interface Analysis of Ella, Leia Health and NumaKelmendi, Leonora January 2023 (has links)
The aim of the study is to explore three healthcare apps, Numa, Ella, and Leia Health, and their affordances in digital healthcare. By applying discourse analysis and discursive interface analysis as primary methods, the study investigates reward and motivation features within these apps, aiming to uncover the norms and assumptions embedded in their interfaces. Theoretical concepts such as motivation affordance, technology affordances, and sociomaterialism are used as frameworks to understand and analyze the results. The interface analysis provides insights into how various affordances, such as functional, cognitive, sensory, and collaborative, shape the user experience in healthcare apps. The results offer an overview and understanding of how user behaviors are influenced by the structure, design, and features of health apps through their digital interfaces, illustrating how the apps provide users with support and information.

Gränssnittsanalys av två olika musiktjänster / Interface analysis of two different music streaming servicesHäkkä, Max, Marang, Ah Zau January 2016 (has links)
The music market has changed considerably in recent years and streaming has become one of the most popular ways to listen to music today. Many new streaming services have appeared and tens of millions of people use these today (Borja et al., 2015). Usability is important in order for users to be able to use these services in a satisfactory manner. This study examines two different music service interfaces from a usability perspective. 20 students from KTH answered a questionnaire about their prior use of music services. Afterwards the students participated in a Think Aloud study where they performed a number of tasks on services and where we additionally measured the efficiency by taking the time, in addition to calculating the number of clicks for each task. Finally, students were asked to answer a number of questions in a brief interview. The study shows that while both services had features that fared better in the study than for the other service, they were very similar when it came to usability.

The Actor-Interface Case of Development Intervention in the Conservation of Mount Cameroon National Park, Buea, CameroonTafon, Voma Ralph January 2013 (has links)
Critics of Integrated Conservation and Development Projects (ICDPs) have argued that participatory approachesand trade-offs are key to effective development interventions for rural populations living adjacent to protected areas. Based on an actor-interface framework, this thesis explores among other things, the discontinuities and/or linkages between those formalized narratives surrounding the creation andmanagement of Mount Cameroon National Park (MCNP), and their actual implementation, where there are multiple actors with divergent rationalities and interests. Specifically, this thesis examines the experiences and perceptions of the Park’s rural populations vis-à-vis the participatory-driven socio-economic development of their rurality. Interview results show that while the socio-economic potentials of the Park’s conservation to the rural poor have been touted, the fragmented and ad hoc nature of these benefits seriously undermine their poverty-alleviating capacity for marginalized communities. Furthermore, this thesis shows that while participatory approaches may constitute a major technique for involving rural populations in decision-making processes that affect their lives, the benefits fall largely to influential local elites, and that community participation is sometimes sought only for less important decision-making activities. This thesis concludes that in order for ICDPs to contribute effectively to eliminating poverty traps for marginalized communities, development interventions must not only be the result of rural people’s expressed priorities, but development practitioners must also have the necessary training to understand poverty traps and development problems as nested issues that must be addressed in a comprehensive and holistic manner. The paper also suggests that ICDPs must develop rural people’s capacity in conservation activities such that they can benefit from ecotourism and other conservation-related employment, in meaningful ways.

This dissertation addresses the interface formation between thin Tantalum and Titanium based layers onto the piezoelectric substrate materials Lithiumniobate and Lithiumtantalate as part of a metallisation stack for surface acoustic wave devices. The goal is to extend the fundamental knowledge of chemical interactions during layer growth, its thermal and temporal stability plus its effects on the layer growth of an Aluminium cover layer.
One focus lies on the preparation of the substrate surfaces for cleaning and modification purpose. For this, besides standard procedures a specially built plasma-based device was systematically evaluated for surface treatment. The following layer deposition was then implemented onto these prepared substrate surfaces and mainly analysed by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. By the means of thermal load and temporal alteration of the layers in vacuum essential knowledge about the interface stability was gained.
For the completion of a whole layer stack selected substrate-layer combinations were covered with Aluminum and its layer growth was analysed with respect to the different formation of texture and its potential chemical cause.

Aesthetics in User Interface Design: : The Influence on Users' Preference, Decoding and LearningLund, Linda January 2015 (has links)
The question of the relationship between, and the importance of usability and aesthetics, in the field of user interface design, has been debated back and forth. It has also been looked at from different perspectives since Raskin (1994) wrote his article on intuitive design. Several experiments have also been conducted over the last twenty years to find out exactly how much each factor matter, what the ultimate user preference is, and if it can be stereotyped. The more complex part of the discussion, however, seems to be the definitions: exactly what is aesthetics, what is usability and how do they affect each other? To find out, I explored the context of these factors from multiple perspectives, to draw the larger conclusions about what affects what. How accurate is the concept of halo when it comes to interface design; can a less aesthetic interface discourage users from exploring its content? Moreover, can a highly usable interface convince its users that the web page is also aesthetically pleasing? In this paper I will explain the ideas of aesthetic and intuitive design based on two fields of study; human computer interaction design and interaction design. That is in the pursuance of understanding user preference and the design decisions behind one of the most popular interfaces on the internet today.
