FundaÃÃo Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e TecnolÃgico / RESUMO A presente dissertaÃÃo de mestrado em Desenvolvimento Regional SustentÃvel à um estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa e descritiva, a unidade de anÃlise à um grupo de jovens que participa da FundaÃÃo Casa Grande (FCG), em uma Ãrea do SertÃo SemiÃrido na RegiÃo do Cariri. Investiga-se sobre a construÃÃo de significados pelos jovens que participam da FCG e suas contribuiÃÃes para o desenvolvimento dos prÃprios jovens e para a RegiÃo, onde se procura saber sobre suas experiÃncias de aprendizagens nas dimensÃes do âserâ, do fazer e do conviver. Esta pesquisa foi norteada pela hipÃtese de que os jovens que participam da FundaÃÃo Casa Grande estÃo construindo significados, e que estes significados podem constituir-se em competÃncias para superaÃÃo dos desafios vivenciados por eles, e em possibilidade de cooperaÃÃo com a RegiÃo. Os estudos qualitativos, descritivos e analÃticos foram compostos pelas observaÃÃes de atividades cotidianas e depoimentos dos jovens sobre suas experiÃncias na FundaÃÃo Casa Grande, na Cidade de Nova Olinda. Esse municÃpio està localizado na MicrorregiÃo do Cariri na RegiÃo Sul do Estado do CearÃ, a 393 km de Fortaleza, com uma Ãrea geogrÃfica de 284,40 Km2, situada no ambiente da Chapada do Araripe, limitando-se com os MunicÃpios de Farias Brito, Santana do Cariri e Crato. Este estudo tem o objetivo de identificar os significados construÃdos pelos jovens sobre a vida no contexto do SertÃo SemiÃrido e suas contribuiÃÃes para o desenvolvimento regional sustentÃvel a partir das experiÃncias vivenciadas na FundaÃÃo Casa Grande. Esta pesquisa tem como orientaÃÃo teÃrica as discussÃes acerca da construÃÃo da identidade humanÃstica, da autonomia, da superaÃÃo da exclusÃo social, formaÃÃo de sujeitos sociais e compromisso com o territÃrio onde se vive, discussÃes fundamentadas em Paulo Freire, Lev Vygotsky e Hassan Zaoual. Os resultados da anÃlise dos dados estÃo organizados em trÃs dimensÃes: ser, fazer e conviver apresentando os processos de construÃÃo do ser pessoa, da aprendizagem significativa e das relaÃÃes sociais. / ABSTRACT This work on Regional Sustainable Development is a qualitative, ethnographic and descriptive study; the unit of analysis is a group of young people participating in Casa Grande Foundation, which belongs to an area of the Hinterland in Semiarid Region Cariri. It surveyed about the construction of meaning by young Semiarid and their contributions to the development of young people themselves and for the region, where we try to know about their learning experiences in the dimensions of "being", of doing and living. This research was guiding by the hypothesis that the youth in question are constructing meanings as mechanisms for overcoming the challenges faced by them in Semiarid. Qualitative studies, descriptive and analytical observations were madding by daily activities and testimonies from young people about their experiences in Casa Grande Foundation, the City of Nova Olinda. This city is located in Micro region Cariri in southern state of CearÃ, 393 km from Fortaleza, with a geographical area of 284.40 km2, located in the environment of the Araripe, next to the cities of Farias Brito, Santana do Cariri Crato. This study aimed to identify the meanings constructed by young people about life in the context of the Hinterland Semiarid and their contributions to the Regional Sustainable Development from experiences in Casa Grande Foundation. This research was theoretical orientation discussions about the construction of humanistic identity, autonomy, overcoming social exclusion, formation of social subjects and commitment to the territory where they live, discussions addressed by Paulo Freire, Lev Vygotsky and Hassan Zaoual. The Graduate Program in Sustainable Regional Development, Federal University of Cearà in Campus Cariri where it conducted the survey, with financial support from the Foundation of Cearà Support Scientific and Technological Development (FUNCAP) beginning in March 2011.

Object of research – youth socio-cultural activity in rural communities. Objective of study – to analyze the organization of youth socio-cultural activity in rural communities and to present a model of youth’ socio-cultural activity organization in rural communities. The main tasks are: 1. To traverse theoretical aspects of youth socio-cultural activity organization in rural communities. 2. To present youth’, as a social group, characteristics that has its peculiar problematic aspects. 3. To analyze the survey data results of experts’ and youth’ sociological research. 4. To do a comparable analysis of survey results of experts and rural youth. 5. To present a model of youth socio-cultural activity organization in rural communities. Methods of research are: logical analysis and synthesis, comparable analysis, data analysis of nonfiction and statistics, half standardized interview of experts, youth’ questionnaire survey data analysis, graphic presentment and generalization.
