Investigating the simultaneous influence of intrinsic and extrinsic cues: an examination of the interaction between country of origin, price and selected sensory variables.

Veale, Roberta. January 2007 (has links)
The research was undertaken to quantify the power of selected extrinsic (price and country of origin) and intrinsic cues (acid in chardonnay and fat in brie) on consumer evaluations of both experienced and expected product quality, and further, to measure the respective influences of objective knowledge, subjective knowledge and self-confidence on these quality assessments. The study also seeks to determine if a survey conducted measuring expectations of quality would yield comparable results with quality assessments based on actual product experience. The study was comprised of sensory experiments using full profile conjoint analysis experimental design to measure quality perception, followed by a survey where only product description profiles were provided. The analysis from both stages show findings that are remarkably similar in most respects. Results of the sensory experiment for chardonnay show both extrinsic cues tested to be more important than acid levels, while results for the survey show price maintained the strongest influence, with comparable expectations regarding the importance of country of origin and acid. For brie (both stages) consumer opinions were consistent; with price found the most influential; and while country of origin was considered relatively important, fat levels were more influential for both groups. Whilst for chardonnay (both stages) respondents held consistent beliefs regarding each acid level tested, for brie respondents experiencing the highest level of fat held an opposite view to respondents assessing quality based on their expected liking for this type of product. The influence of knowledge (objective and subjective) and self-confidence was found to be sporadic and weak, likely due to respondents’ general lack of objective knowledge in both stages of the survey. In the case of self-confidence, results are surprising given that respondents in both studies exhibited reasonably healthy degrees of self-confidence. The research provides important information to marketers seeking to exploit the most attractive aspects of their products and platform for a number of subsequent studies. / Thesis(PhD)-- School of Commerce, 2007

Lachance, Christian 09 1900 (has links)
Important figures in the history of thought includes Socrates and Krishnamurti. The former was proclaimed the "father" of western philosophy while the latter was regarded as one of the five great "saints" of the 20th century by the prestigious journal Time. This case focuses on tne connections it is possible to show between these two thinkers regarded by posterity as "unclassifiable". Which brings them together with at the outset however, it is clear concern for the universal theme of self-knowledge. It is therefore on this shading that we have approached the studies of the similarities between them. They appear especially in their unwavering commitment to the search of truth with respect to the principles of virtue. We tried to establish a number of facts which demonstrate that their speeches were in substance on the merits of the reflection for a human to understand that he had any interest to concern itself with the relationship he has with his thinking to better understand itself.

Improvizace a tvořivost v taneční a pohybové výchově na 1.stupni ZŠ / Improvisation and Creativity in Dance and Movement Education in Primary School

Bukvičková, Jitka January 2012 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to remind the importance of the two selected categories of the educational content of the subject of dance and movement education in primary school: improvisation and creativity, their conception and implementation in education. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part firstly deals with dance based on movement - the most natural activity of everyone. Then, the subject of dance and movement education is introduced together with its characteristics. The following chapters describe the importance of improvisation and creativity in dance and movement education. The practical part consists of a qualitative research of which the main aim was to find out how improvisation and creativity are being fulfilled in practice. The research was realized using the method of participating observation. That part also presents its results.

Perceived Knowledge, Attitudes, and Self-Efficacy Concerning Textile Waste Prevention Among the Citizens of Malmö

Stöhr, Katharina, van der Woude, Jitske January 2021 (has links)
The average Swede consumes 14 kilos of textiles every year and disposes of 10 kilos, of which 8 kilos end up in the household mixed waste. When disposed of in the household mixed waste, the textiles will be incinerated. Sweden has adopted the EU’s Extended Producer Responsibility policy as a national policy after which all Swedish provinces, as late as 2025, are obliged to collect and treat textile waste separately from other waste to make better use of it through processing for re- or downcycling instead of energy recovery through incineration. This puts waste management companies at risk of facing larger textiles waste masses than they may be able to handle. Hence, waste management companies must prepare for this imminent challenge by engaging the public, influencing them towards textile waste reduction. However, to engage (with) the public, these organizations must first learn about the citizens’ perceived knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy concerning textile waste reduction alongside the current barriers and enablers they experience regarding reducing consumption and correct disposal of textile waste. Qualitative data was gathered by employing a questionnaire and focus groups, and through thematic analysis, survey data from roughly 430 respondents and three focus groups were evaluated. Significant findings of this study were that citizens face substantial barriers such as lack of information and infrastructure, which leads them to resort to inappropriate disposal. While they are aware of their wrongdoings, they are, on the one hand, incapable of acting differently and, on the other hand, uninformed about waste prevention, generation, and disposal. However, they are open to education and collaboration with waste management companies. Furthermore, the study concludes that, while the individual has a significant role in implementing policies, a systems view must be employed not to overload the individual with responsibility.

Hesse, Christina, Hösel, Claudia, Schulz, Jens, Schusser, Bert 17 December 2019 (has links)
