Resistance bodies on the México-U.S.border : Peripheral feminisms

Lolo García, Montserrat January 2016 (has links)
The present study shows and analyses how bodies codified as women’s bodies can resist in an extreme violence context situated in Ciudad Juárez on the México-U.S. border. To be resistant or to make resistance in these circumstances can be represented in different ways, through social and civic movements, art, literature and weapons. How these women’s bodies seem and how their resistance is and what they represent is the line of investigation of this study. This resistance is a direct confrontation to the feminicide and the diverse forms of violence against bodies codified as women exercised by men. As well as the peripheral feminisms it is a confrontation to a cis hetero-patriarchal capitalist context. Women’s bodies are the territory or the stage where violence, terror, power and exploitation converge. The reaction and rejection to this situation by a diverse collective of women highlights the struggle and the activism that these groups have as a way of life, a way of dissent and finally a way of resistance.

Glosläxor eller ord i kontext? : En studie i hur mellanstadieelever lär sig nya ord i engelska / Glossing as homework or word in context? : A study of how pupils learn new words in English

Thomas, Chloé January 2016 (has links)
Out of the debate in Swedish media about homework, the idea for this study was born. The idea was to investigate the popular belief of many foreign language teachers which suggest that homework glossing is a necessity in the English classroom for pupils vocabulary acquisition, while other assumes this method doesn’t lead to knowledge that last. Therefore, the purpose for this study was to examine how learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) manage to learn new words when they received glossing as homework and when they studied the words in a context during class. Furthermore, out of the argument that homework stress pupils and lowers their interest and motivation for the subject, a secondary purpose was to find out pupils’ opinions about learning new words through glossing as English homework. The study was focused on two teaching methods for vocabulary acquisition: the traditional teaching method designed to teach vocabulary by giving glossing as homework, and teaching new words during class with a focus on teaching the new words in context. Through the survey of these two different methods for vocabulary learning and an empirical study with two primary school classes in which these two methods were put on test, contrary to the expectation that learning words through homework glossing wouldn’t lead to vocabulary knowledge that last, the results of the empirical study showed that the group which received glossing as homework, did better on both test than the group which studied the word in context. Similarly, the data results showed the average pupil had a positive attitude to vocabulary homework as for the most part they felt it benefited them to study this method because of the effects of learning.

Vybrané syntaktické jevy v překladech z němčiny do češtiny realizovaných pomocí nástrojů CAT / Some Syntactic Phenomena Related to Computer-Aided Translation from German into Czech

Jurenka, Jakub January 2014 (has links)
The thesis looks at computer-aided translation (CAT), which, along with machine translation (MT), stands for the use of information technology in translation, but, unlike MT, is not of primary concern for Translation Studies research. Based on the current state of research, this thesis aims to address the syntax of CAT text output. The theoretical part first describes the working principles of CAT tools and presents them in the context of general translation studies, then defines information structure and endophoric reference as the syntactic phenomena to be analysed. Finally it provides a methodological model for the empirical part. Using a set of texts translated with CAT tools and a set of texts translated without them, the empirical part seeks to check whether translators using CAT tools tend to shift from the syntagmatic approach to text to a more paradigmatic one. To this end, an analysis is carried out to determine the interference rate in the information structure of the target texts as well as the rate of subjectively motivated shifts in distant endophoric reference. The final part of the thesis confronts the analysis results and the data reflecting the process of producing the collected texts in order to take into account other potential factors than the use of CAT tools. Formy spolupráce rodiny a školy na počátku školní docházky / Forms of family and school colaboration in primary school

Jelínková, Hana January 2013 (has links)
The thesis deals with the process of building up partnership between family, school and the class teacher at the very beginning of school attendance and the possible forms it can take. The theoretical part describes both, the family and school, as an educational institution, defines these concepts from the legislative and pedagogoical point of view. It proceeds further with showing the historical development and its logical continuation in contemporary tendencies to build up the relationship between family and school, which can happen in two ways; the first possibility is to view the position of the teacher as the dominant person in the process, another possibility is democratic, humanistic, child-oriented. The latter attitude is presented as "Step by step" (literally "Staring together"in the Czech usage). The empirical part brings up the author's actual research work, suggesting strategies and possibilities of partnership between parents and school, in the alternative offer of activites devised to involve the family into the educational process. The parents can choose according to their actual possibilities. This offer is reflected on the basis of the standards of the document "Competent Educators of the 21st Century" Principles of Quality Pedagogy. Furtheron, validity of the assertion "If the...

Alternativní potravinové sítě v postkomunistickém kontextu: Farmářské trhy a farmářské obchody v Česku / Alternative food networks in a post-communist context: Farmers' markets and farm shops in Czechia

Syrovátková, Marie January 2016 (has links)
Alternative food networks in a post-communist context:: Farmers' markets and farm shops in Czechia Marie Syrovátková ABSTRACT The emergence of farmers' markets (FMs) and farm shops (FSs) in Czechia is a follow-up of the expansion of alternative food networks (AFNs) from Western Europe and North America where they have been developing for several decades. AFNs are an up-to-date topic as they respond to the growing concerns about the negative effects of the globalized conventional food system on social, economic and environmental aspects of food production, distribution and consumption. Each form of AFNs emphasizes a different aspect of the food system sustainability. FMs and FSs should primarily enable direct selling of quality local products made by small producers to support local economy, rural development, environmental protection and to improve quality of life. Based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, the aim of the dissertation is to explore the emergence and development of AFNs in Central Europe. Using the example of Czechia, considering the communist past of the region, the work evaluates the contribution of AFNs to build a more sustainable system of food production and consumption and the weak points of the phenomenon in Czechia and, using a comparison of the AFN evolution...

Konzept einer an semantischen Kriterien orientierten Kommunikation für medizinische Informationssysteme

Nguyen-Dobinsky, Trong-Nghia 03 April 1998 (has links)
Introduction Large hospitals like the University hospital Charité use in different units different information systems for recording patient and medical data. There are also different tasks: administration, healthcare, research and education. These medical information systems are often called subsystems. They are usually not able to exchange data without lost of semantic. The complexity and the variability of medical terminology cause this problem. Existing medical standards (e. g. HL7, DICOM, SNOMED, ICD, ICPM, ...) are helpful for well formalised terms. Non-formalised terms that are often used in diagnostic reports can not be represented by existing standards. Aims Development of a concept for medical information exchange which fulfills the requirements mentioned above. Material and Methods The system analysis that is performed based on existing subsystems, medical standards and concepts provides two essential requirements. On the one hand the syntax of such standard must be extremely simple. On the other hand the standard must be able to transfer extremely complex semantics. As an example relational databases (RDB) provide a good idea of such simple syntax and complex semantics. RDB's include only one data type. It is called relation or table. To manipulate tables one needs only one operation. That is the SELECT command in SQL. Result The concept is object oriented. It includes only one object called AMICI-object like RDB's (AMICI: Architecture for Medical Information Exchange and Communication Interface). Data exchange is completely performed by these AMICI-objects. If the receiving subsystem is not able to interpret and represent an object, the sending subsystem will take over this task. Within a network a subsystem uses a special AMICI-object called medical context to describe its features and its area of interest. A subsystem can inquire medical contexts to explore installed and running subsystems in the network. An international unique identifier identifies every AMICI object so that you can mix objects provided by different international institutions, e. g. to use them in multi-center-studies. Discussion This concept can also be used as a basic service for higher level applications in a hospital. Two of them are telemedicine and software agents. Telemedicine is not only a tool for physicians. It should be also a tool for communication and interaction between patient and physician. Physicians can use personal software agents for information acquisition, which meets exactly his specific requirements.
