The operation and competitive strategy for new LED company in Taiwan-case study of the company

Chao, Hsiao-Ming 27 July 2009 (has links)
As we enter into a high energy consumption era, people start taking notice of a simple electronic device called Light Emitting Diode (LED). A continuous rise of crude oil price in global markets and the proposal of WEEE and RoHS by European Union, ¡§energy efficient¡¨ and ¡§environmental friendly¡¨ are becoming more and more important, which leads to the attention of LED. It¡¦s one of the so called ¡§green¡¨ light emitting sources and will be the market¡¦s mainstream in near future. Therefore, LED will become another star product after the measurement of the IC and TFT-LCD industries. Taiwan has been developing LED for over 30 years and has developed a well rounded market structure. Facing huge demand by application such as computer monitor backlight, car lighting, and daily lighting appliance, Taiwanese LED supplier already responded by adjusting their market strategy and increasing their product quality. Many companies began to involve the upstream epitaxial techniques and products. How to survive through well-down strategy development is a key for these upstream suppliers. The purpose of this study is to understand how a new company to build competitive advantage through the case study of the U company. When the U company was found, it uses a different production mode to overcome many problems from traditional production modes. The U company¡¦s strategies lets it could develop fast, provide stable quality products, and manufacture with lost cost. Through this case study, this study wants to shed some light to other people who have interests in the LED industry.

LED lighting industry in Taiwan-A case study

Tsai, Tsung-hsun 18 August 2008 (has links)
To cope with the global trend of energy conservation, LED lighting industry has become a new generation of the mainstream market. With the features of low energy consumption and pretty looks, LED lighting will replace the traditional lighting market. According to the institute study, it is estimated that the global lighting market will grow to 94 billion U.S. dollars by 2010. In order to identify the key elements of Taiwan's Lighting industry development, Michael Porter's five forces Model and SWOT analysis has been adopted in this paper. A domestic LED lighting manufacturer-D Co, Ltd. was interviewed as a case study in this paper. The results indicated that the advantage of Taiwan¡¦s lighting industry development advantage lies in the well industrial chain integrity, professional and technical research and development staff. On the other hand, the disadvantage is that LED lighting products are priced too high. If the production can not achieve economies of scale, it is difficult to promote products. The paper proposes from both marketing and production operations to improve in marketing. To formulate business strategy and understand the market needs of customers and how to achieve customized marketing for D Company is the urgent need to address. For the aspect of production, the performance measurement systems must be established to strengthen research and development and technical staff production performance. In addition, it must have a sound accounting system and management information system to enable the overall operation of D Company and to improve the allocation of production resources for maximum effectiveness.

台灣創業投資對LED產業次世代照明投資之研究

李正星 Unknown Date (has links)
Taiwan High Tech Industry has developed for over thirty years and has amassed huge quantity of capital and technology knowledge. Due to government policies and product usage expansion in recent years, LED has become a highly potential industry. Therefore, venture capitalists are likely to lean towards investing in this industry due to its high growth rate. However, the development of venture capital has since slowed down upon reaching its peak in year 2000. Though most ventures did not perform well however, there were some that did well. The company studied in this thesis is InnoStream Consultancy Services. The study is to explore on their investment in the LED industry and the reasons for success. The study has discovered the usage of networking and integration of supply chain as the elements for the achievement. Different from the rest of industry, InnoStream made use of resources such as the network of its shareholders to foster the supply chain integration. As such, they managed to ensure steady growth of the company, development in their LED technology and strengthened in ties with overseas manufacturer. This study suggests international cooperation in the LED industry. Such a policy will improve the competitiveness of Taiwan’s LED industry in the global market, and result in industry upgrade.
