Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Green Water Around a Two-dimensional PlatformZhao, Yucheng 2009 December 1900 (has links)
An interface-preserving level set method is incorporated into the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) numerical method to simulate the application of the green water phenomena around a platform and the breaking wave above the deck. In the present study, this method is used to evaluate the laminar in two dimension plane with fixed orthogonal grids.
In this method, it is assumed that the free surface is modeled as immiscible two-phase flow (air and water). A level set function can present the individual fluids, and the interface between two-phase is represented by the zero level set. In addition, the level set evolution equation is coupled with the conservation equations for mass and momentum, which will be solved in the transformed plane. For different purposes, there are several block domains in the application grid. Chimera domain decomposition technique is employed to handle such embedding, overlapping, or matching grids.
Several simple test cases were performed to demonstrate the feasibility of this method. The comparisons between the ENO scheme and the WENO scheme will be illustrated in the Zalesak's disk case and will further prove that the WENO scheme is superior to the ENO scheme. The propagation of continuous wave case will validate some properties of wave and determine the importance of some parameters in code. Moreover, the method will be applied in simulation of green water around a two dimensional platform. By configuring different deck heights, some distinct phenomena can be represented. Lastly, it is crucial to observe the green water phenomena around the platform deck by applying the velocity-extrapolation routine.

The Influence of Training on Organizational Performance¡GEmpirical Samples from Financial Industry in TaiwanWang, Ling-lie 07 February 2006 (has links)
The research basis of this study are analyzed from the data abstracted from ¡§Annual Financial Report¡¨ and ¡§Corporate Annual Report¡¨ of public-listed corporations in financial industry in Taiwan for consecutive three years, with a total of 51. This research includes topics of the impact on organizational performance by involvement levels of training, the progressive effect, and possible obstacles of impacting organizational performance by two organizational characteristics, namely staff educational level and establishment of exclusive training unit.
The result of the research is summarized below
1.Overall speaking, training has positive impact and progressive effect on organizational performance. The result shows positive relevance to training budget per human capital regardless of preceding or present year, in compliance of perspectives of long-term training effect. What worthwhile of reference is that time is crucial for skill acquisition and talent development. With consideration of staff career development plan, setting up life-time training plans in different stages can not only encourage staff to grow with corporations but also fully develop long-term training effect.
2.The higher staff educational level is, the more obvious training effect is for a corporation. Staff with higher educational level symbolizes stronger learning capabilities, and stronger tendency to accept training enhances the training efficiency. The result indicates that the higher staff educational level is, the greater impact on organizational performance is.
3.A broader research perspective shall be sought to explore the influence on training effect by setting up exclusive training unit. This research applies the methodology of setting up exclusive training unit to symbolize the training quality. Regression analysis indicates setting up such unit has little obstacles in training effect. The possible assumption goes to vast variety of reasons to influence training quality instead of any single organizational factor.

System-level Architecture Exploration and Case StudiesChang, Yao-Jui 15 August 2006 (has links)
This thesis investigates Electronic System Level (ESL) design flow by implementing some applications using CoWare ESL tool, ConvergenSC. There are three focuses in this thesis: basic cell modeling, system platform design, and system level architecture exploration. In the basic cell modeling, we adopt the system level language, SystemC, to describe the abstract behavior of various modules in Transaction Level Modeling (TLM). In system platform design, we use the ESL tool to create system platforms of different architectures, mainly AMBA-based system platforms. In the system architecture exploration, we analyze the simulation results in different system platform architectures and present several strategies (memory allocation, ASIC design, DMA, Pipeline Scheduling) to improve the overall system performance in the application example of MP3 decoder. The rough estimation of power and area is also included in the system architecture exploration stage.

The Study of Quasi-Three-Level Passively Q-Switched Blue LaserWang, Chun-Wei 26 June 2001 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a high power, compact all solid-state blue laser, which is applicable in micro machining, LIDA, underwater ranging, biochemical techniques and so forth. The passive Q-switching technique, which is known to be a low-cost and simple method to raise the laser peak power was employed in this thesis. In the mean time, the intracavity-doubling technique was integrated to achieve the non-linear frequency conversion for generating blue laser at low cost.
Based on our research finding, the reabsorption loss due to thermal effect and a paucity of suppression at wavelength of 1064 nm on laser mirrors could cause the four-level oscillation at 1064 nm instead of three-level oscillation at 914nm. Improvement in heat dissipating system, and suppression at wavelength of 1064 nm on mirror coating has led to a success in developing a quasi-three-level blue laser with peak power of 114W at wavelength 473 nm.
A modified rate equation model of the quasi-three level passively Q-switched blue lasers was developed as well, in which the influence of the re-absorption loss in the gain medium and its intracavity frequency doubling were both considered. The influence of reabsorption loss upon the laser power deduction was studied by numerical simulation in order to optimize the laser performance.

The Relationship Between the Product Stategies of Multi-Level Maketing Company With the DistributorsChou, Chin-Jung 09 August 2002 (has links)
As we know that the process of visions, strategies, plans, actions, reviews and re-plans are essential to managing a company and strategies obviously are the main guideline of all. The product strategies in marketing are recognized as the starting point to various kinds of strategies in production, marketing, human resource, R&D, finance, information system and logistic¡Ketc.
The distribution organization of Multi-Level Marketing companies (hereafter named ¡§MLM companies¡¨) is different from those of other industries because in addition to being a customer, the distributors are not only their sales representatives but also supervisors of the sales teams. Therefore, the characteristics of distribution organization must be particularly taken into account while MLM companies plan on their product strategies. If they know well about the characteristics, the products strategies can be successfully initiated and company goal can be easily achieved as a result.
In this study the data was collected through questionnaires which focus on the following three main issues in order to compare the differences and similarities of consideration factors between MLM companies and distributors while MLM companies plan on their product strategies.

A study on development of management competency of local middle-level managers in Taiwanese's Corporations in ChinaChung, Hsi-Chien 19 June 2003 (has links)
There are more and more foreign investments getting into Mainland China. China has a very big market with 12 billion people. The economics grows very fast in China, and it gathers so much fortune. Many corporations in Taiwan are also stretching their business development into Mainland China because those business people do believe they have advantages than other foreign investments such as the similar identification of language, culture, and working values. However, those corporations do not hire many local employees as middle or higher-level managers while they are really doing business in China. Actually, they found that employees do have different working values and thoughts which make corporations have to adapt their human resource policies.
This study tries to identify if the local employees in China have good management competency, which is qualified to be the middle-level managers. This study is also trying to find out what kind of training programs are capable to help managers get different management competencies.
The results of the study indicate that¡G
1. Leading skills and professional working skills are the most important management competency for the local middle-level managers in China.
2. The personal characteristics will influence Taiwanese managers to identify management competency of local middle-level managers in China, such as the level of education, serving department, position-level and industry-type.
3. Training methods for each management competency are listed in the context. The results are practical and hopefully are useful for corporations to refer to.
This study has identified the important management competency of local middle-level mangers in China. However, the samples of this study did not cover various types of industries and gather from every political district in China. The following research is recommended to have more samples from different industries and get more samples from different political districts in China in order to deeply analyze the management competency of local employees in China.

Improving ILP with the Vectorized Computing Mechanism in VLIW DSP ArchitectureYang, Te-Shin 25 June 2003 (has links)
In order to improving the performance for real-time application, current digital signal processors use VLIW architectures to increase the degree of instruction level parallelism (ILP). Two factors will limit the ILP, one is enough hardware resource for all parallel instructions. Another is the dependence relations between instructions. This thesis designs a VLIW architecture processing core called DVBTDSP molded by FFT algorithm and uses the software pipelining mechanism to schedule the loop to achieve the highest ILP degree when used to execute FFT butterfly operations. Furthermore, in order to provide the smooth data stream for pipeline operations, we design a mechanism to improve the modulo addressing, which will collect the discrete vectors into one continuous vector. The simulation results show that the DVBTDSP has double performance of the C6200 for the FFT processing, and has good performance for FIR, IIR and DCT algorithm computing.
