Changes in Soil Test Phosphorus and Phosphorus Forms with Continuous Phosphorus Fertilizer Addition to Contrasting Prairie Soils

Obikoya, Oluwatoyin 14 September 2016 (has links)
Application of phosphorus fertilizer can lead to changes in soil test P and increase both labile and non-labile phosphorus pools. Sequential fractionation showed that the labile (H2O-P and NaHCO3-P) fractions significantly (P < 0.05) increased with the addition of phosphorus fertilizer across all sites. Significant increase was observed in the non-labile (NaOH-P, HCl-P and Residual-P) fractions during the accumulation phase. During the depletion phase, when no further P was added, the accumulated P in the labile P fractions declined but not to the original level. The rates of P application, soil properties, soil test P methods used and time effect all had significant effects on soil test P changes in the extraction experiment. Mehlich-3 extracted the greatest amount of P from the two depths and Olsen-P was intermediate while the smallest amount was extracted with water. The pattern of the rate of change in extractable P with P addition for the 0 – 7.5 cm depth was not site dependent as the results obtained at the different sites were similar. / October 2016

Modular Forms and Vertex Operator Algebras

Gaskill, Patrick 06 August 2013 (has links)
In this thesis we present the connection between vertex operator algebras and modular forms which lies at the heart of Borcherds’ proof of the Monstrous Moonshine conjecture. In order to do so we introduce modular forms, vertex algebras, vertex operator algebras and their partition functions. Each notion is illustrated with examples.

Toward an Ecofeminist Environmental Jurisprudence: Nature, Law, and Gender

Mallory, Chaone 08 1900 (has links)
This thesis develops a legal theory reflecting the insights of feminism and environmental philosophy. I argue that human beings are not ontologically separate, but embedded in webs of relationality with natural others. My primary purposes are to 1) delineate ways in which institutions of modernity (such as law and science) have precipitated ecosocial crisis through the attempt to dialectically enforce mastery and control over nature and women; and 2) explore alternate political forms and ontologies which challenge the classical liberalist view of the (human) individual as a radically isolated, discrete, autonomous being. My overarching theme is that law functions as a narrative that can both hinder and enhance the promotion of ecological ideas, and how ecofeminism can contribute to transformative projects of environmental philosophy and feminist law.

Flexibilní formy zaměstnávání / Flexible forms of employments

Horáková, Jana January 2014 (has links)
- Flexible forms of employment This thesis deals with the flexible forms of employment as an alternative to an indefinite term employment with eight-hour working days and as an instrument for increasing employment relationship flexibility. These forms of employment, also called atypical or precarious, are attractive for employees who want to achieve a balance between their professional and personal lives, or for employers who can use these forms of employment as a competitive advantage or as an instrument to solve their economic problems. The thesis is divided into introduction, conclusion and five chapters which are divided into sub-chapters. The first chapter briefly describes the terms and principles which are important for the characterization of flexible forms of employment. The second chapter contains the definition of flexible forms of employment, their enumeration and brief summary of the survey on how czech employers use the flexible forms of employment. The third chapter deals with the flexible forms of employment provided for in the Labour Code. Namely fixed-term contract, agency employment, agreements on work carried out beyond employment, part-time job and homeworking. The next chapter deals with the forms which are not contained in the Labour Code, namely job sharing, compressed...

Dosage forms in therapy of posterior segments of the eye

Pospěchová, Lucie January 2016 (has links)
1 Abstract Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradci Králové Department of: Pharmaceutical Technology Consultant: doc. PharmDr. Zdeňka Šklubalová, Ph.D. Student: Lucie Pospěchová Title of Thesis: Dosage forms in therapy of posterior segments of the eye. Therapy of the posterior eye segments is very difficult. Because most of diseases of the posterior eye segments could lead to complete blindness, the research of dosage forms for the drug delivery into this eye part is intensively developing at this moment. The aim of this thesis is to provide a review of anatomical and physiological specifics of both- anterior and posterior segments of the eye. The most common diseases of the posterior eye are referred to, for example the age related macular degeneration and/or the cytomegalovirus retinitis. There are various routes of application and drug dosage forms that are used for the therapy and which are mentioned in this work, including the drug delivery and targeting systems.

Standardizované formy uzavírání smluv v mezinárodním obchodě / Standardized forms of concluding contracts in international trade

Trojanová, Kamila January 2012 (has links)
Resumé: Standardized forms of concluding contracts in international trade The contemporary international trade is defined by the standardized approach to commercial transactions. The purpose of my thesis is to analyse legal issues concerning contract formation by means of standardized legal forms in international trade. Chapter One describes the development of standardization in international trade. It introduces and defines basic terminology covering standardized forms of contract formation: standard terms, standard clauses, boilerplate terms, form and model contracts and legal manuals. Chapter Two addresses the process of contract formation under the United Nations Convention on Contracts for International Sale of Goods (CISG) in comparison with the regulation in the Principles of European Contract Law (PECL), Principles of International Commercial Contracts (UNIDROIT Principles, UPICC), Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) and the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on a Common European Sales Law (CESL). The emphasis is placed on the incorporation of standard terms into a contract, i.e. into an offer or an acceptance. It is followed by an analysis of the battle of forms and its possible solutions including last shot rule, first shot rule, knock-out rule and...

Flexibilní formy zaměstnávání / Flexible Forms of Employment

Urbanová, Lucie January 2011 (has links)
Flexible forms of employment This diploma thesis deals with the flexible forms of employment as an alternatives to regular form of employment. The focus of the first two chapters is to determine the basic terms regarding the topic of this thesis; the following chapter concentrates on the flexible forms of employment regulated by Czech law in particular, i.e. Fixed-term contract, part-time job, homeworking, agreements on work carried out beyond employment and agency employment. In the scope of introduction of the particular flexible forms of employment this thesis in detail deals with the Czech law regulation of these forms of employment and follows up their benefits and drawbacks to the parties of the before mentioned agreements. The thesis briefly mentions some legal issues besides the labor law, especially the issues from fields of the social security law and the tax law.

Non-Physical Forms of Intimate Partner Violence in Lesbian Relationships

Giordano, Jessica L. 14 May 2010 (has links)
An extensive review of the existing literature makes apparent that academics who study intimate partner violence focus primarily on physical violence in heterosexual relationships. Non-physical forms of abuse receive secondary attention, despite reported claims from survivors that non-physical forms of abuse are more common, more painful, and have longer lasting effects than physical forms of abuse. The dominant focus on intimate partner violence as a social problem enacted by males on their female partners results in a lack of sufficient literature or conversation pertaining to abuse that exists outside these parameters. Members of sexual minority groups are deliberately excluded from the mainstream movement to protect and support survivors of intimate partner violence. Influenced by these realizations, this research explores the dynamics of non-physical forms of intimate partner violence in lesbian relationships; particularly the ways survivors frame the abuse and their experiences with seeking help.

The Acquisition of the English Present Perfect by a Speaker of Brazilian Portuguese

Rocha, Eleomarques 21 May 2004 (has links)
This study contributes to the debate about the importance of focus on form to adult second language acquisition with an investigation of a Portuguese-speaking adult's acquisition of English present perfect from a historical, correlational, and qualitative viewpoint. Using a husband-wife interaction in the L1, it investigates whether explicit grammar instruction and error correction can lead to automatic production. The focus of the study, the distinction between L1 present simple and L2 present perfect, is contrasted with a control distinction: L1 stative and L2 progressive. The importance of these distinctions is that both are semantically challenging for the L2 acquirer; therefore, they might require focus on form. This study argues against claims based on Krashen's input hypothesis that only comprehensible input can promote acquisition and that explicit data and negative evidence only affect performance. The results confirm the importance of noticing (Schmidt and Frota, 1986) as an essential aspect of adult second language acquisition. With a thorough look at the semantics of the present perfect, the study shows that focus on form is highly recommended for the acquisition of complex structures.

Estruturas polissimpléticas e multissimpléticas em variedades e fibrados / Polysymplectic and Multisymplectic forms on Manifolds and Fiber Bundles

Gomes, Leandro Gustavo 28 February 2007 (has links)
In this thesis, we introduce a new class of multilinear alternating forms and of differential forms called polylagrangean (in the case of vector-valued forms) or multilagrangean (in the csae of forms that are partially horizontal with respect to a given subspace or subbundle), characterized by the existence of a special type of maximal isotropic subspace or subbundle called polylagrangean or multilagrangean, respectively. As it turns out, these constitute the adequate framework for the formulation of an algebraic Darboux theorem. Combining this new algebraic structure with standard integrability conditions (d! = 0) allows us to derive a geometric Darboux theorem (existence of canonical local coordinates). Polysymplectic and multisymplectic structures, including all those that appear in the covariant hamiltonian formalism of classical field theory, are contained as a special case.
