This research presents a systematical study about the use of improvisation as a tool for the collective creation in the performing arts, and the consequent systematization of an improvisation game called 'Improvisation Zone¿. As references of this research, we made use of two systems with clear possibility of dialogue and interlacement: the Effort-Shape System developed by Rudolf Von Laban, and the 'Vision Area¿ game, developed by Prof. Marcelo Ramos Lazzaratto. Starting from the 'intergame¿ between theses two systems and guided by the practical and theoretical studies of Viola Spolin, we systematized the 'Improvisation Zone¿, playing a key role in our creation of the play 'Alma de Papel¿. This research enquires the relationship of each interpreter with his own spontaneous and creative material, and how it interferes with his technique and poetic development and in the scenic construction. The development of this research was based on the experimentation of these concepts, applied on two propositions: the pedagogic process of systematization of these ideas ('Improvisation Zone¿) and the experimentation of the scenic construction / Mestrado / Mestre em Artes

In view of the government initiatives to promote the creation of an industrial park, combining the independent content and television-paid channels, the domestic production of animated series and feature films reached a solid level, providing a demand for animated content can to create jobs and position the Brazilian audiovisual product competitive in the national and international market. Faced with this latest animated film industry configuration in Brazil and building on the peculiarities of an animated production over one that uses real actors, we sought to investigate and reconcile the different principles and methods governing the creation and writing movement. In the field of dance / theater, Rudolph Laban studies were researched on creating your movement analisys system and labanotation, as well as the characteristics of the animated body language present in the Richard Williams animation film, which defines and exemplifies theoretical concepts and practical. This research therefore focused on investigating the dynamic possibilities of the national animated content production on an industrial scale.

Martial Arts as a markup language

Unknown Date (has links)
This thesis describes the modeling of Martial Arts as a markup language. Up until now Martial Arts has already been documented in books, videos, tradition and other methods. Though to represent Martial Arts knowledge consistently and uniformly in a digital era, we introduce the Martial Arts Markup Language (MAML), which is based on XML. Because XML provides a standardized, serializable and portable format, MAML also enables sharing among students, teachers and their peers across different platforms, media and networks. MAML provides the ability, with appropriate XML tools, to document a Martial Arts style in a structured way. To achieve this, we first analyze the aspects that comprise Martial Arts; and how its states and processes relate to one another. We model in MAML describing the stances, transitions, punches, blocks, techniques, combinations, reactions and patterns used in Martial Arts. We discuss the implementation of MAML by observing and extracting the definable aspects in existing Martial Art Instructive Documents. The MAML Schema assures that the details of a Martial Arts Style’s elements are consistent. Current simulation efforts will be explained as well as areas for future development. We have described Martial Arts by observing what has already been done and creating a structured standard to document them. We hope to enable practitioners’ abilities to learn from and develop their arts by providing a resource in which they can interact with. / Includes bibliography. / Thesis (M.S.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2014. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection
