The Wycliffe global alliance - from a U.S. based international mission to a global movement for Bible translationFranklin, K.J. (Kirk James) January 2012 (has links)
This thesis deals with the complex question of how global Christian mission
organizations must learn to function, especially the Wycliffe Global Alliance (WGA). I
summarize how the Wycliffe Bible Translators (WBT) began in 1942 as the
resourcing organization for the Summer Institute of Linguistics (now called SIL
International) and how their mutual founder, American William Cameron Townsend,
was influenced by Western mission strategy and conservative evangelical theology.
The changing global context is impacting how the missio Dei takes place and this is
influencing how mission agencies interact with each other and the church worldwide.
This is leading to new paradigms of how mission is conceptualized around the world.
The thesis outlines how the changing global context has forced Wycliffe to reevaluate
its place in the world because, half a century after its formation, the church
has new homes in the global South and East. It follows that as a Western mission,
Western resources have decreased and this has shaped how Wycliffe Bible
Translators (International) has now become Wycliffe Global Alliance (WGA).
However, this goes beyond a mere change of name and has resulted in a type of
structure that enables it to better engage with the church worldwide.
The thesis also examines the complexity of contextualization in the global
environment, noting how different languages and cultures are involved, each with its
own rules and subtleties. I show how the shift of the centre of gravity of the church to
the global South and East presents new theological challenges for the Bible
translation effort and these directly impact WGA.
There are many missiological implications for WGA that come from influences in
church history regarding the importance of language, the translatability of the gospel,
the history of Bible translation and how missional reflection is necessary in various
situations. These merge together to provide new implications which are influenced
by globalization for mission agencies such as WGA.
The thesis also emphasises that WGA is a global mission movement, so I have
identified methods of leadership development and structure, all of which are critical
to WGA’s effectiveness and involvement in the missio Dei. I show that forming global
mission leaders is unique and complex, and how the leaders must embrace a wide
variety of qualities, skills and capabilities, especially in responding to greater cultural
diversity. Since most leadership principles are culturally bound, this creates
obstacles in cross-cultural situations. Therefore, I emphasize that a successful
multicultural organization like WGA must learn to focus on both worldwide and local
objectives.
The thesis outlines how theological, missiological, cultural, contextual and leadership
values converge and therefore reshape a mission movement like WGA. My
conclusion is that none of these influences can be ignored – all are relevant. Each
must be reflected upon in order to provide directions for WGA as it seeks to be
faithful to its vision and serve the global church. / Dissertation (MA Theol)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / gm2013 / Science of Religion and Missiology / unrestricted

LAUSANNE – PLAINES DU LOUP: ekologické město / LAUSANNE – PLAINES DU LOUP: sustainable city developmentKotlabová, Anna Unknown Date (has links)
Housing in the city, in the Plaines du Loup district of Lausanne in Switzerland. The clear goal of the assignment adds a primary school as another point of solution, considering the school as an extension of housing. Furthermore, the assignment is extended by the design of the neighboring park. The project deals with the design of a city block, based on the relationship between school, housing and public space. The project is based on an urban study by Tribu architects, ranging from a comprehensive urban concept to the architectural design of a school and apartment buildings. The effort to create a pleasant living environment is intertwined with all parts of the project.

The project focuses on the design of a residential city block, elementary school and a park in the street Plaines-du-Loup in the Switzerland city of Lausanne. The goal of the work is both to create a complex urbanistic concept and architectonical solution of a part of city block - elementary school connected to an apartment building. The urbanistic concept builds upon an already completed urbanistic study by the Tribu architects1. It aims to create a polyfunctional and diverse city environment with a richness of space. The project continues with a partial architectonic solution of an elementary school building interconnected with residential buildings. It seeks a solution to the relationship between school and living / school and public space.

The third platform and the center of sustainable development in Lausanne Sustainable city is in my opinion city, that offers to it's inhabitants good-quality city spaces – attractive streets and squares - interesting for spend free time. Main reason of this I see in insufficient regulation of car traffic. Big amount of cars takes big part of cities and burden it by dust and noise. Also the scale of cities is adapted for cars. That is way I designed city quarter without possibility of private car access. It's alternative to common ways and under arrest to the center of sustainable development it demonstrates it's preferences and becomes alive exhibit. In hart of third platform is situated former cargo railway-station Gare de Sébeillon. It designed for reconversion to the center of sustainable development. Architectural proposition is answered by urban concept.

The diploma thesis raises the question of how to live differently and suggests living in the Swiss city of Lausanne. The master plan contains the basic parameters, 5,500 inhabitants, 3,000 jobs, 550,000 m2 of gross floor area. Housing is in the neighborhood of the elementary school, the design of which is thus part of the assignment. Thinking about buildings is in connection with modern standards of ecological construction. The design is based on an analysis of the environment and architectural and urban considerations about how to live well and healthily. The development of the project is shown from the concept, to a more detailed solution of the facades.

Martin Bucer und die Einheit der Christenheit : ein theologiegeschichtlicher Beitrag zur Ökumene-Debatte im modernen evangelikalismus unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Lausanner Bewegung für Weltevangelisation / Martin Bucer and the unity of Christendom : a theological historical contribution to the ecumenical debate in modern Evangelicalism with special reference to the Lausanne Movement for World EvangelisationKlöckner, Thomas 11 1900 (has links)
German text / Die ökumenische Bewegung weltweit steht nicht erst seit kurzem vor großen

Previous issue date: 2018-11-14 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The purpose of this study was to analyze two official documents of Christianity
promulgated in the 1960s and 1970s, namely the Pastoral Constitution Gaudium et Spes in
Catholicism and the Lausanne Covennant in Protestantism, with a focus on poverty in Latin
America, using a bibliographical and documentary research methodology. Main theoretical
references included the sociology of Max Weber in analyzing the motivations behind the
documents, and the missiology of David Bosch to study the historical and theological
contexts.
The dissertation is structured in three chapters. In the first, we analyse the context that
defines the conception of Christianity regarding the mission of the church in the nineteenth
century, as well as the way in which the two Christian perspectives viewed the question of
poverty. The second chapter analyzes the two documents and their social, political, and
economic context of the mid-twentieth century and identifies the conception of poverty within
the mission context in a new paradigm, missio Dei, which classifies poverty as an institutional
and structural problem in both Christian perspectives. In the third chapter, we analyze the
theoretical implications and the contradictions that the new paradigm brings to the question of
the poverty of the Latin American populations, the practical repercussions with the
organization of the Ecclesial Base Communities, Liberation Theology and Theology of the

Chance has allowed me to make beautiful discoveries. The particular beauty of the electric cables and their plastic potential have thus illuminated my artistic career. I made the choice of cable as raw material of my work since 1999. A traditional technique, that of Crochet, in connection with contemporary tapestry emphasizes the idea of connectivity and the weaving of social links by a single continuous thread, an unbroken thread. But I seek a transgression of this practice in favor of a broader understanding of what it represents. By the gestural repetition that allowed me to lead to a form of ritualization of my technique, I go through a phase of consciousness where the perception becomes more acute. My practice has become a form of existence, improvement, and relief to come to the realization of a magical effect, which delivers the body spiritually. It is also a form of connectivity, of exchange with several artists of which I made the collection carefully and which enlarged my universe, then by the serial work, monochrome (black) and an epistemological analysis, I suggest a " miscegenation" of certain disciplines in my work, a form of hybridization between a cosmological universe, mathematical and physical are interlaced. My body becomes a drawing thread in the external space, my interiority by performative and expressive videos. I am experiencing an adjacency that actually comes from the continuity of the thread. This internal and fusional space, where I experience my body in relation to the continuous thread, often takes on an imaginary dimension, to which is added an external space, that of representation and distancing in the physical world of my work.
