= ,,Der runde Tisch Österreich" - a mission strategically efficient model for unity among Christians?Wieland, Andreas 30 November 2005 (has links)
There is a great diversity of initiatives furthering unity among christians. Probably the most important ones are those of the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Roman Catholic Church as such and the Lausanne Movement of the Evangelicals. The "Runde Tisch" (=Round Table) brings together Austrian christians from all parts of the christian scenario as a new initiative towards unity. To find out, which of these initiatives is the most efficient, from a mission-strategical standpoint, this thesis develops the New Testament findings on the question of unity. Then, the 4 models are presented to finally be compared, to find out, where each one has its strengths and weaknesses. The Round Table Austria with its great width of christians involved, its theological profoundness and its leadership structure with proportional engagement of members from all present parts of the christian body is indeed quite close to the New Testament picture of unity.
Text in German / The present work deals with the historical and theological foundations of radical evangelicalism and
places it within the context of theologies which influenced it and are similar to it. Radical evangelicalism
integrates insights from various theological roots into a evangelical basal concept. Radical theology
succeeded, through its contextual outworking, in overcoming the narrow focus of European evangelical
theology and yet it remains genuinely evangelical. It is in the position of breaking through
the sterility of academic theology and the dualistic worldview which is peculiar to wide parts of the
evangelical movement by a world view that is turned towards the world. Thus it is proving itself to be
a highly relevant theology for the needs of a divided world. The work develops in three steps. First of
all the historical development of radical evangelicalism will be traced, from its beginning at the Congress
for world evangelism in Lausanne in 1974 to the present day. Thus it will become clear that in the
30 years since Lausanne radical theology has entered the mainstream of evangelicalism. There follows
in a detailed section a setting out of the theology of radical evangelicalism by means of several chosen
themes. It will deal with radical hermeneutics, eschatology, salvation, the meaning of mission and
evangelism and the relationship between Gospel and culture. Finally the social action of radical evangelicalism
will be set out and it will be demonstrated that its energetic theology is at its basic level in
fact a driving sprituality. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D.Th. (Missiology)

Jüngerschaft und Mission: der Nachfolgebegriff und seine Konsequenzen für die missionale Befähigung / Discipleship and mission: the concept of discipleship and its implications for the missional empowermentRamp, Stephan 11 1900 (has links)
In the discussion about mission in an increasingly post-Christendom era and the role of the
church in it, the concept of discipleship is receiving increased attention. This growing interest
stems from the belief that mission is the concern of all believers and that they must therefore
be empowered for it. A closer look at this discussion shows that the contours of this concept
are often fuzzy and used in different emphasis. This study wants to make a contribution to the
clarification and concretization of the concept of discipleship and to make it further fruitful as
an empowerment for mission. For this purpose, both missiological and biblical-theological
literature was examined in order to establish the connection between discipleship and mission
and to arrive at a clarification and concretization of the concept of discipleship. The results
were then used to formulate consequences for the understanding of mission and missional
empowerment and were discussed with 3DM as an example of a practical approach to such an
empowerment. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. Th. (Missiology)

The Third World evangelical missiology of Orlando E. CostasTippner, Jeffrey E. January 2013 (has links)
This thesis examines the missiological writings of Orlando E. Costas (1943-1987), particularly The Church and Its Mission: A Shattering Critique from the Third World (1974); Theology of the Crossroads in Contemporary Latin America (1976); Christ Outside the Gate (1982); and Liberating News: A Theology of Contextual Evangelization (1989). From the early 1970s until his death in 1987 he wrote over 130 articles and 12 books in both Spanish and English that addressed key missiological concerns. A careful reading of a selection of Costas's texts oriented around a hymn, a gospel song, a psalm, and a poem provides the shape of this thesis. This thesis argues that Costas formulated a Third World evangelical missiology. Chapter one investigates what Costas's autobiographical material expressed about his positions on conversion, Protestant evangelicalism, missiology, and those living on the ‘periphery' of life. Chapter two recognises his commitment to the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean in particular and the Third World in general. Chapter three explores Costas's analysis of the Latin American Protestant Church in a revolutionary situation in the continent and chapter four examines his survey and critical appraisal of Latin American liberation theology. Chapter five recognizes the pastoral shape of Costas's missiology. Chapter six explores his critical interaction with two more conservative evangelical missiological positions, the Church Growth Movement and Peter Beyerhaus and the Frankfurt Declaration, and chapter seven surveys the discussion within the international evangelical community regarding the relationship between evangelism and social responsibility. Chapter eight examines Costas's Liberating News as an expression of Third World evangelical missiology. Chapter nine considers the theological issue of penal substitutionary atonement and his missiology. The thesis concludes with an appraisal of the issues and contributions of Costas's Third World evangelical missiology to current missiological discussion.
