A quantitative study on the effect LQS & LTS has on purchase intention in an online context

Dietrichsteiner, Sebastian, Lindgren, Kasper, Okanovic, Irfan January 2022 (has links)
Background:Scarcity refers to a basic economic problem, the gap between limited resources and limitlesswants. This situation requires people to make decisions on how to allocate resourcesefficiently in order to satisfy basic needs and as many additional wants as possible. Scarcitycan affect the consumers ability to source and process information with regards to acquiring ascarce product. Scarcity can be divided into two cues, LQS and LTS and these ques can helpunderstand a consumer's purchase intention.Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to explain the effect increasing LQS & LTS has on onlinepurchase intention onlineMethodology:This thesis employed a quantitative research method as well as a deductive approach with anexplanatory goal. The study was cross-sectional in nature. The data was collected via anonline questionnaire sent out to an online community consisting of around 20,000 members, which obtained 272 valid replies that passed the qualification question by purposive samplingThe data was tested using reliability testing, validity testing, and significance testing.Furthermore two simple linear regression analysis to test the two hypotheses formed in theconceptual framework.Findings:The findings of this paper states that LQS and LTS both show a significant positive impact onpurchase intention in an online context. LTS was shown to have a higher significant impacton purchase intention when comparing the two cues. Conclusion:The conclusion from this paper comes in three separate items. The general conclusion, theoretical implication and managerial implication. The general conclusion states that thefindings prove that LTS and LQS has a significant positive impact on purchase intention.Secondly, the theoretical implication states that LTS has a more significant impact onpurchase intention in an online context and that scarcity does not influence a positivebehavioural outcome such as purchase intention similarly offline versus online. The managerial implications state that LQS and LTS could be used to enhance purchaseintention synonymously with each other.

Limited angle reconstruction for 2D CT based on machine learning

Oldgren, Eric, Salomonsson, Knut January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this report is to study how machine learning can be used to reconstruct 2 dimensional computed tomography images from limited angle data. This could be used in a variety of applications where either the space or timeavailable for the CT scan limits the acquired data.In this study, three different types of models are considered. The first model uses filtered back projection (FBP) with a single learned filter, while the second uses a combination of multiple FBP:s with learned filters. The last model instead uses an FNO (Fourieer Neural Operator) layer to both inpaint and filter the limited angle data followed by a backprojection layer. The quality of the reconstructions are assessed both visually and statistically, using PSNR and SSIM measures. The results of this study show that while an FBP-based model using one or more trainable filter(s) can achieve better reconstructions than ones using an analytical Ram-Lak filter, their reconstructions still fail for small angle spans. Better results in the limited angle case can be achieved using the FNO-basedmodel.

Rozhodování mimo valnou hromadu kapitálových společností (per rollam) / Decision making outside the general meeting of limited companies (per rollam)

Málek, Jakub January 2015 (has links)
1 Abstract Decision making outside the general meeting of limited companies (per rollam) The aim of the thesis is particularly using the descriptive and the analytical method and the legal argumentation to analyse the legal regulation of the decision making outside the general meeting of limited companies (per rollam) contained in Civil Code and especially in Business Corporations Act, to focus of its specifics and possible interpretational problems of selected topics, to assess the impact of the per rollam decision making on rights of members of limited companies and last but not least to suggest framework possibilities for the further development of the legal regulation de lege ferenda. Alternatively, the comparative method with the British and Slovak legal regulation is used. The thesis is divided into four chapters; each of them is further divided into subchapters and closed with a partial summary. After the initial definition of the limited company and outlining its characteristics in the first chapter, the second chapter is devoted to the general analysis of the general meeting with an emphasis on possible alternative ways of decision making on and outside the meeting and to the question of the nature of the general meeting's resolution. In the third chapter the per rollam decision making in limited...

The relationship between science and technology

Drath, Paul January 1973 (has links)
From 1948 until they left the mainstream of computer development in 1963, Ferranti Limited co-operated with the Electrical Engineering Department at Manchester University in the development of computers. In this thesis, this relationship is examined as an example of the interaction of universities and industry. In particular, the role of government finance in bringing the two organizations together and the impact of co-operation on the participants have been studied. A related study has been made of the National Research Development Corporation's efforts in the late 1950s to enable British computer firms to catch up on the more advanced American industry by organizing a high speed computer development project. These efforts, r. -which resulted in the allocation of funds by NRDC for the joint development of the Atlas computer by Manchester University and Ferranti, are examined and the reasons for their repeated failure analyzed.

An Investigation of Candidates' Experience of Attrition in a Limited-Residency Doctoral Program

Kennedy, Donna Hosie 01 January 2013 (has links)
Approximately 50% of doctoral students in social science, humanities, and educational doctoral programs fail to earn the Ph.D. This number is 10% to 15% higher for students enrolled in online or limited-residency programs. Using in-depth interviewing and qualitative data analysis techniques, this study examined participants' recollections of their experience as students in a limited-residency doctoral program and their reasons for withdrawal. The study addresses the following question "What is the nature of the participants' experiences of doctoral attrition in a limited-residency doctoral program?" The use of a grounded theory analysis helped identify obstacles that ultimately cause students to withdraw from limited-residency programs. The elucidation of these barriers led to the development of a theoretical model comprised of three components; each clarified relationships between attrition and a support issue (i.e., advisor support, dissertation support and program support). These components were then combined into a single theoretical model that identified the nature of participants' experience of attrition. The theoretical model helps identify steps faculty and administration could take in order to reduce attrition. The study's findings are presented in a discussion of themes found throughout the participant's narratives. Recommendations for effective doctoral education practices from existing literature are supported in the findings of this study. The limited-residency doctoral program may consider offering several forms of support to improve doctoral retention. Additionally, the program should give close attention to the relationship between the advisor and the student. Recommendations were made regarding significant program factors, accountability measures for dissertation committees and chairperson, improved monitoring of attrition, and improving the overall communication with the dissertation students. The concluding chapter includes implications of the findings and recommendations for further research regarding doctoral student attrition.
