Stanovení vybraných parametrů rozdílných způsobů zakládání porostu cukrové řepyCHADRABA, Václav January 2019 (has links)
The work is focused on operational comparison of two technologies of sugar beet growth. The comparison took place on two adjacent plots with almost the same properties. On the first plot the stand was based on Stip-Tillage technology. On the second plot was used minimalization technology, specifically loosening and subsequent preparation before sowing using a compactor. Several parameters of the soil preparation were evaluated on the plots. Subsequently, the vegetation was monitored during the growing season. The thesis is also supplemented by yield parameters and simplified economic evaluation.

Analysis of Complications after Reconstruction of Bone Defects Involving Complete Mandibular Resection Using Finite Element ModellingMarkwardt, Jutta, Pfeifer, Günther, Eckelt, Uwe, Reitemeier, Bernd 24 February 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Background: In a retrospective study, risk factors for complications after the bridging of mandibular defects using reconstruction plates were reviewed. Especially the loosening of the plate-screw-mandible complex should be analyzed with a finite element model in order to reduce plate complications in future. Patients and Methods: We examined 60 patients who underwent a treatment with reconstruction plates after tumor resection during a period of 10 years. The problem of screw loosening was additionally reviewed by means of a finite element study, and a model for the loosening process was developed. Results: Our postoperative examination showed that 26 patients suffered from complications that required an early removal of the plate. These complications were oral or extraoral plate exposures, the looseness of screws with or without plate displacement, and plate fractures. Thereby, we noticed that maxillary and mandibular areas of opposing teeth, the size of the mandible defect, and the crossing of the orofacial midline are all risk factors for plate complications. On the basis of the finite element model, a modified arrangement of the screws was derived. Hence, a new type of resection plate was established. Conclusions: By repositioning the screw holes along the long axis of the plate, the transition from tensile force to torque force of the screws in the screw-plate-bone complex can be minimized. Thereby, the complication of screw loosening will be considerably reduced.
Revision after failed THA resulting from loosening of the femoral component can be challenging even for experienced surgeons. Aseptic loosening usually is associated with some degree of bone loss. We asked whether the Zweymüller SLR-Plus®, along with allograft reconstruction of the deficient femoral bone stock, would provide survivorship, osseointegration, and stability similar to or better than previously reported implants for femoral revision.
We retrospectively reviewed 69 selected patients (70 hips) who underwent revision of the femoral component using the SLR-Plus® stem during a 10-year period. The indications for revision included aseptic and septic failure of biologic fixation, incorrect implantation, and periprosthetic fracture. Seven patients died and four were lost to followup. Fifty-eight of the 69 patients (59 hips) were available at a mean 8.3 ± 2.7 years (range, 4–14 years) after revision surgery. There were 14 men and 44 women (mean age, 69 years; range, 42–89 years). Four stems (7%) were rerevised.
With rerevision for aseptic reasons, the survival at 10 years was 95% (95% confidence interval, 86%–98%). No femoral periprosthetic osteolysis occurred around the stem and 91% of stems appeared stable radiographically (osseointegration, fibrous).
Based on the survival data, we believe the SLR-Plus® stems are reliable for patients undergoing hip revision surgery with central bone loss.

Problem: The abutment screw loosening is a common drawback which concerns both patients and practitioners. Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare the rotational angle degree of Grade V titanium screws during torque, retorque and detorque steps (Ncm) on one-piece cast metal frameworks obtained from UCLA burnout/Co-Cr machined collar abutments. Material and methods: Two external hexagonal implants with 3.75mm in diameter and 13mm in length (Revolution, SIN) were secured to a metallic base and the wax patterns directly fabricated over them. The UCLA burnout/ Co-Cr machined collar abutments were screwed to the implants and joined together with an acrylic resin bar. Ten samples for each abutment type were fabricated. Forty Grade V titanium screws were used in the test. The rotation angle degree was measured with the aid of an specially constructed device and a computer software, during torque and retorque procedures, being the retorque made 10 minutes after the initial torque, both under 30Ncm. After the retorque procedures, the detorque values were measured. The overall sequence (torque, retorque, and detorque) was made three times for each sample. SEM analysis at the implant-abutment interfaces were made before and after the tests, as well as on the screw surfaces to detect possible microdamaging. The Student?s t test was used for between group analyses and the one-way ANOVA test for within group analyses. Results: The rotational angle degree was higher for screws used in the UCLA burnout (test 1: 61,664°; test 2: 47,718°; test 3: 47,374°) than in the Co-Cr machined collar abutments (test 1: 49,038°; test 2: 41,636°; test 3: 43,273°) (P<.05). The highest rotational degree values were observed on the first screwing during torque and retorque procedures. During retorque, the angle formed on the screw head was higher for the UCLA burnout (test 1: 14,591°; test 2: 12,987°; test 3: 13,095°) than the Co-Cr machined collar abutments (test 1: 11,481°; test 2: 10,117°; test 3: 12,213°), being these differences statistically significant between the first and second screwing (P<.05). The mean detorque values were higher in the UCLA burnout (test 1: 27,325Ncm; test 2: 27,050Ncm; test 3: 26,975Ncm) than in the Co-Cr machined collar screw abutments (test 1: 26,250Ncm; test 2: 26,975Ncm; test 3: 26,400Ncm), but not statistically significant. The SEM images demonstrated that the seating surface of the UCLA burnout abutments presented greater irregularities than the Co-Cr machined collar surfaces, which present a more smooth and flat pattern. Greater deformations were found at the seating abutment screw undersurfaces and in the first apical thread as well. Conclusions: The rotational degree was higher in the torque and retorque procedures for UCLA burnout than in the Co-Cr machined collar screw abutments. The detorque values were similar in both groups. The SEM images before torque, retorque and detorque procedures revealed more surface irregularities in the UCLA burnout abutments. In both groups, titanium debris were found in the seating abutment platforms after the tests by EDS images. The SEM images revealed that the abutment screws suffer deformation in the abutment head undersurface as well as in their first apical threads.

An Investigation of Anchor Nut Loosening and Review of Tightening Procedures for Anchor Rods in Highway Ancillary StructuresSingh, Japsimran 14 April 2020 (has links)
Ancillary structures are highway support structures such as traffic signals, sign structures, luminaires, and high-mast light towers which are typically fastened to a concrete foundation using embedded anchor rods and anchor nuts. The inventory of ancillary structures across the United States is huge, and these structures vary dramatically in type, age, size, and material. There have been reported cases of anchor nut loosening on ancillary structures in the past few decades, but the cause of loosening is still unknown. Ancillary structures are susceptible to vibrations due to different wind loadings like natural gusts, vortex shedding, galloping, and truck-induced gusts. Wind-induced vibrations are believed to be one of the potential causes of anchor nut loosening. Previous research also suggests that vibrations can lead to loosening of nuts in structural and mechanical connections. There is concern regarding the current tightening procedures specified in the various federal and state specifications. Improper tightening can potentially lead to anchor nut loosening under the effect of wind-induced vibrations. In ancillary structures, the anchor rods and nuts are first snug-tightened using a wrench before fully pretensioning them as per the current specifications. The snug-tight condition is vaguely defined at present and needs revisions to avoid any under-tightening or over-tightening. Galvanization and overtapping of the anchor nuts also pose a potential concern. Anchor nuts are tapped oversize after galvanization to ensure the nuts fit well on the galvanized rod. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards provide specific allowable tolerances on the thread parameters of the anchor rod and nut after galvanization and overtapping. Any deviation from the allowable tolerances can lead to gaps between the mating threads, which can contribute to the loosening of nuts under vibrations.
This study focuses on investigating the following potential causes of loosening: improper tightening, wind-induced vibrations, snug-tight condition, and thread fabrication tolerance. Current tightening procedures for double-nut and single-nut connections on ancillary structures were verified using a tightening study as part of the investigation. New revisions to the specified nut rotation values for double-nut connections and a draft for proposed new specifications on single-nut connections has been provided as a result of discrepancies and inconsistencies in the current specifications. Vibration testing of a full-scale traffic signal was conducted on the basis of results from a four-month field monitoring program in order to investigate the effects of wind-induced vibrations on anchor nut loosening. It was concluded from testing that improper tightening (pretension < 5ksi) can lead to loosening of anchor nuts under wind-induced vibrations. A small-scale testing was also conducted to verify the results from the large-scale vibration testing. Snug-tight pretension in grade 55, 1-inch and 2-inch anchor rods was found to be highly variable due to different wrench lengths and personnel strength. Thread parameters of galvanized anchor rods and nuts procured from 3 different regional suppliers were found to be within specified tolerances. Various recommendations were then made as a result of the above tightening, vibration, and thread tolerance studies in an effort to reduce the cases related to anchor nut loosening in the future. / Doctor of Philosophy / Ancillary structures like traffic signals, sign structures, and light poles are typically connected to the ground using anchor rods and anchor nuts. There is a very large number of ancillary structures throughout the United States and vary in type, age, size, and material. There have been reported cases of anchor nut loosening on ancillary structures in the past few decades, but the cause of loosening is still unknown. Different types of wind loadings like natural gusts, vortex shedding, galloping, and truck-induced gusts vibrate the ancillary structures. These vibrations due to the wind are believed to be one of the potential causes of anchor nut loosening. Vibrations in the past have been shown to cause loosening of nuts in other structural and mechanical connections. There is also concern that the anchor rods and anchor nuts are not tightened properly as per the specifications, which can lead to loosening of nuts when the ancillary structures vibrate due to wind loadings. In ancillary structures, the anchor nuts are first made tight using a wrench with the full effort of a worker, also known as the snug-tight condition. The snug-tight condition is not properly defined at present and needs to be changed to prevent any under-tightening or over-tightening of the anchor nuts. Also, the anchor rods and nuts are generally coated with a hot zinc layer to prevent their corrosion when exposed to environmental effects like ice, snow, humidity, and rain. This process is called galvanization. The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) provides some guidelines on the amount of coating allowed on the threads of the anchor rods and nuts. Any deviation from the allowable tolerances can lead to gaps between the threads of the anchor rod and nut, which can contribute to the loosening of nuts during vibrations of ancillary structures due to wind.
This study focuses on investigating the following potential causes of loosening: improper tightening, vibrations of ancillary structures due to wind, snug-tight condition, and allowable tolerances for the amount of galvanization. Current tightening procedures for anchor rods and nut on ancillary structures were verified using a tightening study as part of the investigation. New revisions to the current tightening procedures have been provided as a result of discrepancies and inconsistencies observed in the current specifications. A traffic signal and a light pole were instrumented with sensors for four months to measure wind-related forces acting on these structures. Further, a full-scale traffic signal was vibrated in the laboratory using an electric motor to simulate the vibrations due to the measured wind forces. It was determined from the testing that if the anchor nuts were not properly tightened, they could become loose during vibrations due to wind. A small-scale testing was also conducted to check the results from the full-scale vibration testing. The snug-tight force in the anchor rods was also found to be dependent on the length of the wrench and the worker tightening it. The amount of galvanization on the rods and nuts procured from 3 different suppliers were found to be within allowable tolerances. Various recommendations were then made as a result of the conclusions in an effort to reduce the cases related to anchor nut loosening in the future.

Análise da liberdade rotacional de pilares para prótese unitária de hexágono externo submetidos à ciclagem mecânica / Evaluation of abutment rotational freedom of external hexagon single implat restoration after mechanical cyclingPiantino, Marcela Caffarena Junqueira 30 August 2010 (has links)
Prosthesis stability is related to misfit and screw joint preload. The screw loosening or fracture and rotational misfit have been related as the major problems in screwed single implant restorations, especially in molar or premolar areas. The aim of this study was to evaluate the rotational freedom and detorque of 20 UCLA type abutment (10 plastic and 10 machined abutments) cast in NiCr and NiCrTi alloys respectively, over 10 external hexagon implants submitted to mechanical cycling. A device was made to measure the rotational freedom between the implant hexagon and abutment in three different times: before and after the cast procedure and after the mechanical cycling. Groups were classified according the rotational misfit register: (1) new abutments + new implants; (2) cast abutments + new implants; (3) cycled cast abutments + cycled implants; (4) new abutments + cycled implants, and, (5) cast abutments + cycled implants. Measurements were made in the sides and vertices of external hexagon of the implants and internal hexagon of the abutments. Specimens were positioned with 30° of inclination in relation to the vertical axis in an eletromechanical machine for mechanical cycling (5.0x105 cycles) using 120N axial load and 1.8 Hz of frequence. The abutment screws were tightened to a torque of 32N.cm and the detorque measurement was registered after mechanical cycling. The rotational freedom results were: NiCrTi groups - (1) 2.930 ± 0.273; (2) 4.506 ± 2.448; (3) 5.126 ± 2.885; (4) 3.229 ± 0.235; (5) 2.813 ± 0.406; and NiCr groups - (1) 4.684 ± 0.788; (2) 3.21 ± 1.370; (3) 3.818 ± 1.904; (4) 6.029 ± 0.503; (5) 4.421 ± 2.499. Statistical analysis (p<0.05) showed that there is not significance among the different rotational freedom of NiCrTi or NiCr abutments; but there is statistically significant difference between (1) and (4) with higher values to the plastic abutments. Detorque of NiCr group was 13.26±4.32N.cm (-41.44%) and to the NiCrTi group was 13.72±7.36N.cm (-42.88%) but there is not statistically significant difference between the alloys. The mechanical cycling did not statistically influence the rotational freedom in the abutment/implant system when evaluated to each alloy but influenced the implant dimension.
