Chowki, ManiChandana, Nagaiahgari, Shrutha Keerthi Reddy January 2023 (has links)
Tunable antennas have emerged as a promising technology to address the challenges of achieving optimal performance across a wide range of frequencies. This abstract presents a study focused on designing and implementing an ideal antenna system design within a closed-loop system. Background. Tunable antennas offer a solution for achieving efficient signal transmission and reception over a broad spectrum. Traditionally fixed-frequency antennas have limitations in terms of bandwidth and efficiency, making them unfit for applications requiring adaptability to varying frequencies. The integration of tunable components in antenna systems results in greater flexibility and improved performance. Objectives. The main objective of this research is to evaluate and determine the ideal antenna design for closed-loop antenna systems which achieves maximum frequency coverage and efficiency. This involves the design of an architecture that seamlessly integrates components. Methods. The experimental methodology involves designing an antenna system design. The selected components are interconnected in a closed loop, allowing continuous monitoring and adjustment of the antenna’s characteristics. The Micro Controlling Unit (MCU) is programmed using the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE), serves as the controller for managing the antenna tuner’s settings based on real-time feedback from the directional coupler and power detector. The bi-directional logic level converter ensures proper voltage compatibility between the MCU and the antenna tuner. Results. The results of the study showed that the proposed antenna system architecture was able to achieve the desired goals. The implemented closed-loop system demonstrates significant enhancements in frequency coverage and efficiency of the selected antenna. The antenna system was also able to maintain its efficiency even when the environment changed. Conclusions. The experimental results show that in closed-loop systems the performance of an antenna is optimised. The integration of the components enables dynamic frequency tuning, by enhancing the antenna’s maximum frequency coverage and efficiency. The results underscore the potential of tunable antennas in revolutionizing wireless communication systems, showing the way for more adaptable and high-performance devices in various applications.

A floor-controlled centralized conference system for distance learning.

Smetana, George Marcel Monteiro Arcuri 10 February 2004 (has links)
This work presents a centralized multipoint conference system with floor control, which offers voice and text communication capability, developed to support distance learning tools based on web technology. This work also brings concepts about voice over IP (VoIP), audio codecs, real-time traffic over IP networks, packet distribution mechanisms in IP networks, multimedia conferences over IP networks, establishment and control of conferences and mechanisms to control voice packets transmission in multipoint conferences, as Voice Activity Detection (VAD) and floor control. Floor control is a suitable methodology for coordinating access to continuous media resources, such as audio and video channels in conferences, solving resource conflicts and race conditions and guaranteeing their mutually exclusive use by one participant of the conference. Floor control is appropriate for the classroom’s dynamics, where the teacher, mostly, has the role of a moderator and main talker. Besides regulating the information flow in the virtual classroom, floor control helps reducing the need for network resources. As main result, an architecture for the multipoint conference system was proposed, implemented and tested. It was found that the system is scalable and that floor control reduces the interactivity among the conference’s participants, but works efficiently as a mechanism for reducing the need for network resources. Text communications help lowering the impact of floor control on interactivity. In this work, the deployment of a centralized topology for multipoint conferences showed to be very advantageous, mainly because multicast traffic was not supported.

Digital Twin for Firmware and Artificial Intelligence prototyping

Maragno, Gianluca January 2023 (has links)
The forth industrial revolution has risen the born of new mega trends for the improvement of the time to market and the spare of resources in the development and manufacturing of a new product. Among these trends, the Digital Twin (DT) is the one of major interests for developers and strategy analysts. The perfect transposition of a real entity into a digital environment enables the exploration and testing of the different components within the defined object, taking a further step towards a perfect correct-by-design approach. STMicroelectronics (ST) is exploring the benefits that this technology offers to the developers. The company’s primary focus revolves around the creation of SystemC models for the manufactured components so that a co-simulation between an Hardware (HW)/Software (SW) platform and a kinematic simulator is possible. This innovative approach facilitate the comprehensive validation of the designed Firmware (FW), relying on the intricate interplay with sensory aspects influenced by both device behavior and environmental circumstances. Furthermore, many applications nowadays implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm: its performance is strictly dependent on the quality of the signals sensed and on the dataset on which the model is built. The creation of a proper DT allows to implement its development during the design phase, creating not only a valid AI for the real product, but also improving the quality and the performance of the model built. This conclusion is proven through the construction of a simple robotic arm implementing an anomaly detection algorithm based on a Machine Learning (ML) model.

Measurement of Core Body Temperature with a Powered Toothbrush

Pilla, Satya Sai Naga Jaya Koushik, Konduru, Vamsi Reddy January 2022 (has links)
We need to employ modern-day technologies in our daily lives to make our life easier. In this thesis, we analyze the user’s oral hygiene habits and core body temperature to help people to track the state of their health. We designed a system in which the data are directly extracted from the mouth, then stored and presented in the application. By means of the system, the people can keep track oftheir core temperature without any extra function apart from their daily chores. The system can also help to keep track of the health of people with symptoms ofdementia and Alzheimer. We used an LM35 temperature sensor to measure temperature. The sensor is mounted on a powered toothbrush head. When the user starts to brush, the sensor records the temperature data for seven times in two minutes of an average brush time and sends it to the mobile application using WiFi. We used a NodeMCUboard, ThingSpeak server and MIT inventor app to transfer the data and designthe mobile application.
