Koncept biopolitiky v díle M. Foucaulta s konkrétním zaměřením na bezpečnost v rámci oblasti ČR od roku 1990 Drogy v české společnosti / Concept of bilopolitics in the writings of M. Foucault with a specific focus on security in Czech republic from 1990 Drugs in Czech society

Štěpánková, Pavla January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis called "Koncept biopolitiky v díle Michela Foucaulta s konkrétním zaměřením na bezpečnost v rámci oblasti ČR od roku 1990" is devoted to the theme of biopolitics in the writings of Michel Foucault. At first the thesis focuses on previous writings of Michel Foucault, which inspired his concept of biopolitics. It's all about the archeology of knowledge, discipline and sexuality dispozitiv. Biopolitics is a government practice that focuses on the population as a mass. The population by biopolitics is influenced by factors such as the environment, health issues, mortality etc. According to Foucault, biopolitics is originated in the political direction called liberalism. Foucault's ideas and theses are mainly related to the 19th century, but the theme of biopolitics is also relevant for our time. Therefore the diploma thesis focuses on the drugs problem in the Czech Republic on the basis of Foucault's biopolitics. The thesis acquaints us with the evolution of the drug scene in the Czech Republic after 1990, when there was a new political constitution. It acquaints us with the drug policy that works in the Czech Republic and with legislation that resolves the criminal page of drug problems. The thesis also deals with ways of helping drug addicts. Keywords biopolitics, discourse,...

Normativní moc jako základ EU peacebuildingu: Šíření normativní moci EU na západním Balkáně / Normative power as a Source of EU Peacebuilding: Diffusion of Normative Power Europe in the Western Balkans

Petrlová, Eva January 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims to interconnect a theory of normative power Europe with the activities of the EU and its affect on the Western Balkans. The theoretical concept of normative power is based on the assumption of the EU as a normative actor who is able through its norms, values and principles to become a major civilian actor in international relations, especially in the area of conflict management. The theoretical part of the paper therefore focuses on the concept of normative power EU (NPE) as it is presented by Ian Manners, and how its normative character is reflected in the common security and defense policy. It is analysed how the NPE is diffused in selected countries of the Western Balkans through four chosen transfer mechanisms by Manners that comprise the operationalization of the thesis at the same time. Therefore the aim of this work is to contribute to the further broadening the debate over the EU's role in the international system, but also to find out how the norms and values are transmitted in selected countries of the near neighborhood - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo. All of this with regard to democracy, human and minority rights, peaceful settlement of disputes, good governance etc., which encompass the basic values of the EU. The selected operationalization has allowed...

Sexuální obtěžování na českých vysokých školách z pohledu studujících / Sexual harassment at Czech universities from perspective of students

Štanclová, Kamila January 2015 (has links)
1 ABSTRACT The aim of this thesis is to introduce the issue of sexual harassment from the perspective of students of Czech universities. I present a brief history of the phenomenon of sexual harassment and its definitions in the theoretical section. I deal with power aspects of harassing behavior and I present its impacts on harassed persons. I also put sexual harassment into research and legislative context and I devote to the specifics of the school and the Czech setting. The empirical part is dedicated to my research. On the basis of qualitative research I find out how students define sexual harassment, what personal and mediated experience they have with it, what strategies they choose, if they are to cope with this behavior, and how they evaluate it. I focus on the question, with whom they solve sexual harassment, and I present their suggestions of solving and prevention of sexual harassment. I also discuss how they evaluate relationships with teachers.

Diskurzivní analýza "Mamet speaku": promítání moci do jazyka a jeho limity / The Discourse Analysis of "Mamet Speak": The Display of Power in Language and the Limits of Language

Skřivanová, Martina January 2015 (has links)
This master's thesis analyses the following plays by contemporary American playwright, David Mamet: Oleanna (1992) and Glengarry Glen Ross (1983). The thesis deals with the discourse that was used and the question of the characters' power relations, which are examined from a sociolinguistic point of view. Firstly, the thesis defines power relations according to Michel Foucault and shows that communication can serve as an instrument of how to act upon others. The thesis is primarily based on the theory of Deborah Tannen, who observes the ambivalent nature of solidarity and power, and introduces her five areas of interest: indirectness, interruption, silence versus volubility, topic raising and verbal conflict. The thesis examines a selection of dialogues from the plays in order to elucidate how these aspects further influence the actions and behaviour of the characters, and explores the effects of the utterances including the effects of power. The thesis also deals with the question of failure of communication, which is examined from the perspective of Roman Jakobson's functions of language, Paul Grice's cooperative principle and Geoffrey N. Leech's politeness principle. Key Words Mamet, Oleanna, Glengarry Glen Ross, discourse, power, power relations, failure of communication

Strategické námorné myslenie Spojených štátov amerických a jeho aplikácia na súčasné výzvy americkej Pacifickej flotily / Strategic Naval Thinking of the United States of America and its Application on the Current Challenges of the U.S. Pacific Fleet

Voral, Jan January 2016 (has links)
This thesis presents an analysis and confrontation of the classical and current strategic naval thinking aimed to discover whether the classical theories of naval power are still relevant for the current strategic thinking of the United States of America and operational conduct of the U.S. Navy. This is done by creating a theoretical analytical framework based on the analysis of the works of two chosen classical naval thinkers Admiral A.T. Mahan and Sir Julian S. Corbett. This theoretical framework is then applied to the analysis of the current American strategic documents: National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy and Naval Strategy. By applying the theoretical framework to the analysis of these documents, the thesis will confirm or disproof the relevance of the classical naval thought to the current one. The thesis further continues to apply the theoretical framework to the part of the thesis, which analyses the Pacific Fleet of the United States and their area of responsibility in order to identify the strategic challenges that the Pacific Fleet encounters in its area of responsibility. Further analysis is focused on identifying and evaluating the reactions of the Pacific Fleet to the identified challenges.

Jak se rodí gender v diagnostickém ústavu / How gender is being born in a diagnostic institute

Benešová, Jana January 2015 (has links)
The dissertation completes research that began in late 2007. It presents research findings concerning ways and methods of (re) construction of gender identities of Czech children placed in facilities for institutional and protective education. Based on ethnographic research in Diagnostic institute Ark there are examined practices and techniques shaping gender roles and contents, which are rooted in the so-called helping professions discourses. Psychology, special education, social work, pedagogy, education and health education are specializations that converge are under the roof of the institutes and create a discursive field for the exercise of power-colored procedures disciplining the children who are placed (cf. Laan, 1998). These procedures are directly linked to the concepts of socially desirable sex-gender order. The research objective was to capture the processes which have been neglected by the Czech professional community so far and which may become potential disciplination instruments in the hands of professionals in a wide range of helping professions, including social and special pedagogy.

Rocket Jet Impinging on a Surface

Capel Jorquera, Javier January 2022 (has links)
With the continuous growth of the space industry and the introduction of reusable rockets, the number of rocket launches is expected to increase significantly in the following years. During rocket launching, the engine exhaust impinges on the launch structure producing a complex flow field. The rocket jet induces large thermoaerodynamic and acoustic loads on the launch structures and the rocket. This thesis aims to study the physics and numerical considerations behind supersonic flows exhausted from rocket engines. First, the treatment of turbulent compressible flows through the Favre-averaged equations and the SST k-ω model are studied. Next, the numerical modeling of the problem, including solver and meshing theory is presented. Then, a model of a nozzle is explained along with how the performance is assessed to finally design a M=3 two-dimensional nozzle using the method of characteristics (MOC). The two-dimensional results are validated using Ansys Fluent, and the same geometry is used for the following axisymmetrical problems, which include the study of a free and impinging jet. The free jet problem serves to study how the nozzle behaves in a two-dimensional axisymmetric problem and to validate the impinging jet results. To obtain the results, RANS-based simulations of a cold, over-expanded jet with adiabatic walls are performed. Empirical formulas were used to verify the results. Lastly, the impinging jet problem is simulated using the same inlet boundary conditions as for the free jet. The impact that the plate distance to the exit of the nozzle has on the position of the shock waves when the jet impinges on the flat surface is assessed. Finally, an optimization of the shape of a wedge to minimize the maximum turbulence kinetic energy produced during steady-state simulation is carried out. As an appendix to the work, an aeroacoustic study of the impinging jet at 4De distance is presented. The results show the direction of propagation of the acoustic waves but due to the lack of acoustic quality of the mesh, the predicted sound pressure levels do not match the expected behavior.

O víře v moc / On Belief in Power

Smetana, Pavel January 2015 (has links)
This thesis researches the phenomenon of (mostly human) power from the point of view, from which human accepts it and believes in it. At first, it deals with the phenomenon of power in the work of Machiavelli (The Ruler) and it points out the possible danger of its absolutisation. For insight into thinking of Machiavelli, it deals with the analysis of Ľubomír Belás and also with the viewpoint of Anna Hogenová, Jan Patočka, Ernst Jünger, Václav Bělohradský and other authors. The thesis also shows the Comenius' criticism of Machiavelli. There comes a sort of revelation of the principle of power which disregards other values and the thesis warns against it. In the next step, the thesis researches the conception of Václav Klaus (Blue, not a Green Planet) and with the help of Jan Keller's statements and some scientifical opinions in ecological issues (Ravi Kumar Kooparapu) the thesis finds it closed in a certain way of economical thinking, guestioning-suppressive and thus somewhat power-based. Further, this thesis researches the form of strong distortion of the picture of the world which appears in the work of ideologist Alexander Dugin (The Great War of Continents). It shows dangerous power - demagogic features in his work and compares it with the similarities in the orations of Rudolf Goebbels. The...

O vztahu pokory a pýchy / About the Relationship of Humility and Pride

Smetana, Pavel January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with the research of humility from the view of its elusiveness - it does not define humility and it also does not even try to do so. Conversely, it walks around the phenomenon of humility and points at it in different ways. It uses examples, mostly from works of Comenius, and builds it with parallels from works of Jung, Foucault, Jünger, Drewermann and some other authors. It delimits humility against pride at example of different view of "epoché" in works of Comenius and Descartes; pride is basicly seen where human does not leave any unnaturalness and completely absorbs the world by his own opinion; work also uses Husserl's criticism of Descartes' view of "epoché" and Comenius' criticism of Machiavelli is also mentioned. Thence, the thesis sees the principle of humility in a close relation with the principle of faith or simply with the knowledge of the principle of some higher instance than the human's own sense is. The principle of humility is also nearby to the principle of grace - for this example the thesis researches Simone Weil's concept of "weight and grace"; grace from this point of view is an unpredictable step outside the performance-based part of human life. This thesis deals with mentioned phenomenons at first at the level of the visions of the world, later at the...

Mediální reflexe spin doctoringu v kontextu audiovizuální narace posledních patnácti let / Media representation of spin doctoring in audiovisual narrative context of last fifteen years

Kopřiva, Štěpán January 2014 (has links)
This paper is dealing with media reflection (manipulative activity that is trying affect form of media texts for its own profit) which is manifesting itself in representative selection of audiovisual works. This has arisen in period from second half of the ninetieth years of 20th century to present day (namely: movies Wag the Dog, Thank You for Smoking and serial House of Cards). This paper assumes that through the analysis of this reflection is possible to learn how knowledge of possible influence of spin doctoring effects interpretation activity of audience and whole media communication. In opening, there is a definition of spin doctoring, brief outline for its history and examination of its contact points with a propaganda. After that there is narrative analysis of selected audiovisual works, comparison of spin doctor strategies in movies with existing methods of public relation and examples of manipulative influences. After that there is breakdown of media reflection of spin doctoring from position of three different theories of representation and final topic of influence of a semiotic power on form of interpretation which anticipates manipulative technologies.
