Conception et réalisation d'un biocapteur à GMR pour la caractérisation de milieux biologiques / Design and evaluation of a GMR-biosensor for magnetic characterization of biological medium

Shirzadfar, Hamidreza 23 June 2014 (has links)
This work was done in collaboration with Pr Sotoshi YAMADA of the Institute "Nature and Environmental Technology" at the University of Kanazawa. The first part focuses on the state of the art and the methods for magnetic properties measurements of ferrofluids and the description of the GMR effect. The second part concerns the introduction of a measuring device to determine and characterize the value of the sensitivity of each sensor. This sensitivity is a crucial parameter for any biomedical application. Its knowledge allows optimization of sensors ability to measure very low magnetic parameters of ferrofluids very precisely. The third experimental part describes measurements of relative permeability (µr) and susceptibility (X) of magnetic ferrofluids with GMR sensors I, II. In addition, to confirm the experimental results obtained with these sensors, we have compared them to those obtained with other methods such as vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) or by theoretical calculations. The fourth and last chapter presents the experimental results of the relative permeability and susceptibility of a magnetic marker used to detect pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli O157: H7)

Silva, Jonas Cegelka da 15 June 2011 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In this dissertation we present the synthesis of intermetallic compounds DyRhIn5 and Dy2RhGa8, in single crystalline shape by self-flux method, the structural characterization was done by powder X-ray diffraction measurements at room temperature and the magnetic characterization by dc magnetization measurements as a function of temperature and magnetic field applied in two directions, along and perpendicular to the c-axis of single crystals, using a commercial magnetometer MPMS-7 with SQUID detection. The single crystal was formed in a single phase with tetragonal structure HoCoGa5-type, belonging to the space group P4/mmm, with lattice parameters equals to a = b = 4.585 Å and c = 7.359 Å. This compound showed an antiferromagnetic order with Néel Temperature of 28 k when the magnetic field of 1 kOe was applied along to the c-axis. In the magnetic hysteresis curves at T = 2 and 5 K, with the magnetic field applied parallel to the c-axis, a metamagnetic behavior was observed for magnetic fields above 50 kOe. The Dy2RhGa8 compound was growth in phase purity with tetragonal structure Ho2CoGa8-type, belonging to space group P4/mmm, with lattice parameters equals to a = b = 4.332 Å and c = 11.347 Å. An antiferromagnetic order was observed with the Néel temperature of 11 k when the magnetic field was applied in both directions. We observed a typical Curie-Weiss behavior above Néel Temperature for both compounds, signalizing the localized moment of Dy3+ ion. The magnetic susceptibility data were analyzed by means of crystalline electric field (CEF) in these dysprosium compounds. From the data we estimate the crystal field parameters, and discuss that the observed anisotropy can be attributed to CEF effects in Dy3+ ion in a tetragonal symmetry.

Modèles quasi 3D pour l'analyse de structures présentant une anisotropie 3D / Quasi 3D models for the analysis of structures with a 3D anisotropy

Hihat, Nabil 01 December 2010 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the analysis and the modeling the magnetic flux distribution in electrical machines with anisotropic laminated magnetic circuit. The anisotropy of magnetic sheets in transformers induces complex 3D phenomena in step-lap magnetic joints where the sheets are overlapped. Moreover, in order to increase the energy efficiency of rotating machines, new structures based on grain-oriented electrical steel are developed. However, an accurate 3D simulation of a laminated core with thin sheets and insulation of a few microns leads to very large computation time. In this context, we present a homogenization method, which purpose is to define the equivalent magnetic characteristics of any laminated core made of sheets and air gaps. Its formulation is based on the energy minimization and the magnetic flux conservation. The results of this method applied to a step-lap magnetic joint are compared with experimental measurements and a 3D finite element model. The latter requires to know the magnetic characteristics of the sheets in the rolling, transverse and normal directions. The determination of the sheets permeability in the normal direction is problematic and it constitutes an original point of our study. Two methods, analytical and numerical, based on measurements obtained with a static characterization bench makes possible the determination of the normale permeability.

Contribution à l’identification de l’interaction paramètres procédés – propriétés d’emploi des produits : Application au forgeage et aux propriétés électromagnétiques d’une roue polaire d’alternateur / Contribution to the identification of the interaction between process parameters and functionnal properties of workpieces : application to forging and electromagnetic properties of an alternator claw pole

Borsenberger, Marc 12 April 2018 (has links)
The design of electrical machines aims to integrate the impact of the manufacturing process in order to optimize the conversion from mechanical to electrical energy, with the consideration of the electromagnetic properties of the machine components. The interactions between processes, electromagnetic properties and other material properties have been well studied in the case of the steel laminations, regarding their wide use in electrical engineering and the current standards of magnetic characterization devices. However, the claw pole alternator used in automotive industry has a rotor with massive components for the mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion. These components, called claw poles, are manufactured with forging operations whose impact on the machine performance is yet not well determined. The new challenges brought by this kind of work pieces led, in the frame of the current study, to the development of a specific methodology involving: identification of the link process – product, designing of a magnetic characterization device specific for representative samples as well as the establishment of behavior laws regarding relevant material parameters. The results, in accordance with the literature, have shown a strong influence of plastic strain and grain size on magnetic properties. Once these modified properties integrated in the electromagnetic model of the claw pole alternator, a significant decreased of the output current is eventually observed.

Magnetic signature characterization of a fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)

Hansen, Cody Robert Daniel 17 December 2018 (has links)
The use of magnetometers combined with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is an emerging market for commercial and military applications. This study presents the methodology used to magnetically characterize a novel fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV. The most challenging aspect of integrating magnetometers on manned or unmanned aircraft is minimizing the amount of magnetic noise generated by the aircraft’s onboard components. As magnetometer technology has improved in recent years magnetometer payloads have decreased in size. As a result, there has been an increase in opportunities to employ small to medium UAV with magnetometer applications. However, in comparison to manned aviation, small UAVs have smaller distance scales between sources of interference and sensors. Therefore, more robust magnetic characterization techniques are required specifically for UAVs. This characterization determined the most suitable position for the magnetometer payload by evaluating the aircraft’s static-field magnetic signature. For each aircraft component, the permanent and induced magnetic dipole moment characteristics were determined experimentally. These dipole characteristics were used to build three dimensional magnetic models of the aircraft. By assembling the dipoles in 3D space, analytical and numerical static-field solutions were obtained using MATLAB computational and COMSOL finite element analysis frameworks. Finally, Tolles and Lawson aeromagnetic compensation coefficients were computed and compared to evaluate the maneuver noise for various payload locations. The magnetic models were used to study the sensitivity of the aircraft configuration and to simultaneously predict the effects at potential sensor locations. The study concluded by predicting that a wingtip location was the area of lowest magnetic interference. / Graduate

In the sequence, studies related to the magnetic hysteresis and to the magnetic losses, especially in silicon steels, are presented. The magnetic hysteresis in silicon steels has been analysed through the inverse version of the Jiles–Atherton classical model and through a modified one found in the literature. Concerning the determination of its parameters, the theory and the computational implementation of the heuristic method known as “Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA)” have been addressed. Within this context, it was possible to investigate two drawbacks of the Jiles–Atherton model: i) the modeling of the so–called inner loops; and ii) the modeling of the minor loops. In the study of the magnetic losses in silicon steels, it was employed in this work the Bertotti´s model, which establishes the total magnetic losses division in three independent components: hysteresis losses, classical losses, and excess losses. It was investigated two versions of this model, so–called B1 and B2, in which the magnetic hysteresis losses are modeled respectively through the Steinmetz´s model and through the theory of two–portion hysteresis losses subdivision: the one so-called high induction hysteresis losses, and the other, low induction hysteresis losses. Due to some failures, a new approach was chosen reviewing two of the model coefficients calculation: the one related to the classic loss, and the other related to the excess loss. After this reviewing, the magnetic loss models could present predictions that are more exact.
