Gestão estratégica da informação nas pequenas empresas: estudo comparativo de casos em empresas do setor industrial de São José do Rio Preto - SP / Strategic management of information in small companies: comparative study of cases in companies of the industrial sector of São José do Rio Preto - SP

Bigaton, Ana Laura Wiethaus 08 July 2005 (has links)
This dissertation aims to present proposals for the improvement of the strategic management of information in small companies considering their management specificity. The bibliographical revision on the process of information management and the specificity of small companies allowed defining the research variables. The field research allowed identifying the information used to analyze the external and internal aspects of the companies; and the way those companies collect, process and distribute data and information to decision-makers. To make companies improve their and apply their scarce resources to what will really help their growth and development, the following proposals are presented: besides to make leaders aware of the relevance and the benefits of strategic information management and relevance and the benefits of the strategic administration of the information, also to teach them their systematization; to contemplate the influence and relationship of the internal and external variables on the performance of the company and to choose the most important aspects about each internal and external variable; to train the employees of the several departments to accomplish the data collection of all the variables; to discuss, to analyze and to interpret the data obtained in the collection and to turn them in valid information for to make decision; to register not only the resulting information, but also the principal reflection points generated on the meetings; to use more the writing form for the spread the strategic information and to publish for the whole company the existence of the minutes, reports, etc.; to do a feedback of information management constantly; and finally, to create an office of the information. Despite the difficulty in generalizing conclusions, the present study is expected to help future researches and the construction of specific administrative theories for small companies.

Leadership philosophies and organisational adoption of a new information technology

Kakabadse, Nada Korac, University of Western Sydney, Nepean, Faculty of Commerce January 1997 (has links)
This is a study of the relationship between information technology (IT) dimensions and three organizational properties: leadership philosophies, organisational context and IT strategic choice. Six hypotheses were formulated and tested using data collected from a sample of 750 senior civil servants across the Australian Public Service (APS). Attempts are made to show that a direct relationship exists between respondents’ perception of leadership philosophies, organisational context, IT strategic choice and IT dimensions. Results suggest that organisational IT is defined by four dimensions: IT deployment, IT skills, IT training and IT impact on the organisation, and that all four dimensions are necessary for the effective adoption of IT. Leadership philosophy emerges as the most influential determinant for effective IT adoption, whilst only certain aspects of organisational context and strategic choice variables show a significant influence of effective IT adoption. It is concluded that the respondents’ precaution about the effective adoption of IT in the organisation is strongly influenced by the leadership philosophies held by senior APS managers and to some extent by organisational context and IT strategic choice / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

IT service management : the key to achieving information technology service improvement.

Majake, Motseki M. M. January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether, Information Systems Management (ISM), an Information Technology (IT) organisation within Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ CD), adopted the best practices in IT service management. IT Service Management entails ensuring that accurate IT services are delivered to the business at the right price and with the right level of quality, according to Young (2005). The notion of quality IT services is a concern for the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development taking in to consideration that it has set a goal of modernising itself by implementing IT systems. The vision of the department is to make IT services such as email available to all employees. The vision will not be attained if these services are not always available. The literature study shows that IT organisations that implement IT Service Management deliver quality IT services to the users and business. ISM claims to be aligned with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service management practices but lacks some of the structural elements that should be in place. The department has raised concern around whether the processes that they have implemented will yield improved IT services. The research evaluated available documents in view of uncovering implemented processes. The results are steps for improving IT services at the DOJ CD. Firstly, it is recommended that ISM should rate each of the IT Service Management process according to its importance to the business, secondly to identify the relevant teams to manage identified processes, thirdly to make the DOJ CD a customer of ISM. / Thesis (MBA)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2007.

Styrning för samordning

Johansson, Christer January 2001 (has links)
Diss. Stockholm : Handelshögsk., 2001
