A teoria do estilo de liderança busca identificar esses elementos e tem proposto o modelo de líder transformacional como um elemento chave para que as organizações tenham melhores resultados. Muitos estudos aplicados têm proposto diferentes soluções e discutido qual estilo de gestão seria mais eficaz para que as organizações obtenham os melhores resultados. Neste trabalho, analisamos a percepção dos empregados de uma grande empresa com cerca de cem mil colaboradores a respeito do processo de adoção de um modelo transformacional de liderança e seu processo de avaliação de estilo de gestão e liderança aplicado aos seus gestores como forma de modificar uma cultura organizacional para torná-la mais produtiva e eficaz. Nosso objetivo foi pesquisar evidências da efetividade do processo de transformação de estilo de liderança pela percepção dos empregados da empresa. O estudo foi feito pela análise do caso concreto vivido por essa empresa por meio de coletas de dados qualitativos com entrevistas. Foram realizadas treze entrevistas, sendo quatro com gerentes gerais de unidades e nove com gerentes de contas e demais liderados. A partir dos dados coletados, foi feita análise visando a identificar os elementos e evidências da efetividade do processo e entender a experiência da empresa, com seus desafios, contradições e resultados, no processo de transformação para ajustar o comportamento de liderança de seus gestores. Ao final, identificamos pontos de atenção do processo, principalmente as divergências e contradições do processo conduzido pela empresa com a sua prática gerencial, e propusemos algumas melhorias práticas, que poderão ser aplicadas pela organização. / With the development of leadership theory, one issue that has been widely studied is how managers can get better performance from their teams and what factors are related to the leader's person. Leadership style theory seeks to identify these elements and has proposed the transformational leader model as a key element for organizations to perform better. Many applied studies have proposed different solutions and discussed which style of management would be the most effective for organizations to get the best results. In this work, we analyze the perception of the employees of a large company with about one hundred thousand employees regarding the process of adopting a transformational model of leadership and its process of evaluation of management style and leadership applied to their managers as a way to modify an organizational culture to make it more productive and effective. Our objective was to investigate evidences of the effectiveness of the transformation process of leadership style by the perception of the employees of the company. The study was done by the analysis of the concrete case lived by this company through qualitative data collections with interviews. Thirteen interviews were carried out, four with general managers of units and nine with managers of accounts and other employees. Based on the collected data, an analysis was made to identify the elements and evidences of the effectiveness of the process and to understand the company's experience, with its challenges, contradictions and results, in the transformation process to adjust the leadership behavior of its managers. In the end, we identified points of attention of the process, mainly the divergences and contradictions of the process conducted by the company with its managerial practice, and we proposed some practical improvements that could be applied by the organization.

The research’s purpose is to investigate the Brazilian style of management considering as its base the cultural traits which define it. More specifically, this study aims to understand and describe how the Brazilian style of management is nowadays characterized taking into account the recent changes in the global and national contexts. Its relevance rests on the fact that these recent changes may have impacted the way management is conducted. The approach employed to the investigation is a qualitative and empirical one. In this sense, 25 semi-structured interviews were conducted with Brazilian managers who had worked in foreign management cultures and foreign executives working in Brazil. Results were interpreted according to one specific technique of content analysis: the thematic categorical analysis. Three main results were obtained: (i) the traits which compose the current Brazilian style of management can be organized in the following groups: interpersonal relationships, relations to power, work organization and planning, and relations to the environment and inside some of the groups there are traits which stand out and others which have a less impacting presence (ii) the changes that impact the current style of management are related to the national institutional environment, to the internationalization of management and to the profile of the Brazilian manager (iii) the current style reveals itself to be in a process of transformation and consolidation and is formed as a synthesis between global integration and local adaptation which characterizes it as a ‘glocal’ one. / A presente pesquisa situa-se no campo das culturas nacionais e da cultura organizacional brasileira. Seu objetivo é investigar o estilo brasileiro de gestão utilizando como base os traços culturais que o definem. Mais especificamente, o estudo visa compreender e descrever como se caracteriza o estilo brasileiro de gestão atualmente face às mudanças recentes nos contextos mundial e nacional. Sua realização é relevante, pois as mudanças recentes no contexto internacional e as alterações no contexto interno impactam a forma como a gestão é feita no país. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa e empírica foram realizadas 25 entrevistas semiestruturadas divididas entre executivos brasileiros que trabalharam em culturas estrangeiras de gestão e executivos estrangeiros que estavam trabalhando no Brasil. Para interpretação dos resultados foi utilizada uma das técnicas da análise de conteúdo: a análise categorial temática. Três foram os principais resultados encontrados no estudo: (i) os traços que compõem o estilo da gestão no país organizam-se nos grupos relações interpessoais, relação com o poder, organização e planejamento do trabalho e relação com o ambiente sendo que dentro de alguns grupos há traços mais marcantes e outros menos (ii) as mudanças que influenciam o estilo atual estão relacionadas ao ambiente institucional nacional, à internacionalização da gestão e ao perfil do gestor e (iii) o estilo atual estaria atualmente em processo de transformação e consolidação e constituiria uma síntese entre integração global e adaptação local caracterizando-se como ‘glocal’.

The main concern of this master thesis is in the relation between management control systems and management style. In particular it is the management style called liberating leadership, which is characteristic for so called democratic companies, that is subject of the research. The main goal of this thesis is to examine whether it is possible to establish management control systems in such companies given the principles they are built on. Further question is whether and eventually how this management style should be reflected in management control system. The answer to the latter question is introduced using also the outcomes of survey conducted among the executives of companies that endorse the principles of democratic workplace.

The growth and expansion of the Haven Night Shelter Welfare Organisation has been accompanied by a pattern of emotional and negative dismissals and resignations of senior managerial personnel. The research project explores how the management capacity of the managers could be enhanced through training, development and maintenance functions of human resource management. The literature study focused on reviewing outcomes-based education, training and development methodology. The empirical study involved examining the biographical information of the research participants. It also sought to explore the organisational culture by identifying managerial competencies of skills, interpersonal relationships, management style, attitudes and beliefs. Investigating the knowledge base of participants, included exploring human resource management practices, training and development legislation and labour relations. The conclusions and recommendations are based on the findings of the survey as completed by the participants. . This investigation focuses on the leadership role of the principal in managing and supporting curriculum change in South African schools. The results reveal that principals are required to initiate change and to lead the curriculum change process in schools. Principals are expected to monitor, manage and evaluate the implementation of OBE in their schools. They also need to provide ongoing support to colleagues and are further required to acquire and employ skills, qualities, characteristics and a management style that is suitable for the OBE leader. This investigation recommends that for principals to manage and support curriculum change effectively in South African schools: • Principals are in need of more training and ongoing support • Commitment and support to the outcomes based curriculum is called for • Skills and qualities, for effective leadership, needs to be acquired and employed • A strategy to manage, monitor, support and evaluate curriculum implementation in the school is needed. / Educational Leadership and Management / M.Ed. In England and Wales this new approach is labelled Local Management of Schools (LMS), while School-Based Management (SBM) refers to basically the same initiative in the USA and Canada. Many aspects of the South African variation of selfmanagement of schools, namely the management of state-aided (Model C) schools, are quite similar to SBM and LMS. In addition to the literature review undertaken for this study, qualitative data have been gathered through interviews with a number of educationists who are directly involved in the management of state-aided schools. The main focus was on the changed management role of the principal with regard to financial management, staff management, and the management of parent and community involvement The research concluded with the following findings: A participatory, transparent management style is the key to effective and successful self-management of schools. Financial management has caused the biggest single change in the task of the principal of a state-aided school. Every principal ought to consult as widely as possible, and involve as many staff members as is practicable in the financial management of the school. The principal, management body and parents ought to ensure that a partnership is developed in which there is openness, mutual trust and collaboration. The principal, as managing executive, should also try to ensure that the management body functions effectively. Master's thesis "the climate of the school class" is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. Theoretical part deals with subject matter definition of school climate and subsequent analysis and characteristics of related areas. This is mainly an analysis of social class and school climate, mapping factors that contribute to the climate change. Conduction of the mechanisms involved in the formation of school climate closer to analysing in particular iterms of the actors, teachers and pupils. Furthermore, in this part of the work I explore the definition and description of approaches for investigating social climate with a brief analysis of the specific diagnostic methods. Part of the work is also a framework defining the results of current research activities of domestic and foreign research in the above mentioned area. Empirical part focuses on diagnosis of classrooms'climate at selected high schools in the region. Research is focused on mapping the climate changes with an emphasis on quantitative study through selected diagnostical methods. Cette thèse se demande en quoi les demandes de relocalisation alimentaire contribuent à transformer la gestion de l’accès au foncier agricole. Plus largement, il s’agit de comprendre comment le partage des terres entre les personnes souhaitant y avoir accès prend en compte la diversité des modèles agricoles et alimentaires. Le corpus étudié se compose de mobilisations de terre pour une agriculture nourricière de proximité, qui sont menées par des acteurs publics locaux, le mouvement Terre de Liens et des agriculteurs. Leur analyse est réalisée de manière croisée, à partir d’enquêtes conduites dans trois zones d’étude françaises couplant ville et campagne.Le projet de relocalisation est d’abord porté par une large diversité d’exploitations. Son inscription spatiale complexe et les représentations territoriales qui y sont liées invitent à redéfinir la catégorie de "local" en matière alimentaire. Ensuite, les mobilisations de terre participent à renouveler les voies d’accès au foncier : des stratégies domaniales misent sur la mise en œuvre localisée de modes de gestion du foncier alternatifs, tandis que des stratégies réticulaires ciblent la circulation de l’information foncière. L’application du cadre des faisceaux de droits foncier permet d’analyser les réajustements des limites respectives de la propriété et de l’usage de la terre. Enfin, les rapports de pouvoir présidant au partage du foncier, qui font notamment intervenir les Safer et les représentants de la profession agricole, ne sont modifiés qu’à la marge. Au-delà de rares cas de gouvernance de la coexistence foncière des modèles agricoles, la thèse indique comment comprendre l’objet d’étude depuis une perspective de justice foncière. / This dissertation focuses on how the rise of local food issues impacts the way access to farmland is managed in France. This question fits into a a broader concern about how processes of allocation of land take into account the diversity of agricultural models. My corpus is made up of case studies of land operations benefiting a relocalized agriculture and carried out by local public authorities,the civic movement Terre de Liens and farmers. I study them through a cross analysis of surveys undertaken in three regions associating a city and the surrounding countryside : the Ami´enois, the Lyonnais and the south-east of the Aveyron departement.Fist, the relocalization project appears to be implemented in a wide variety of farms. Its complex spatial scope and the related social representations call for a renewed definition of the ”food localness” category. Second, the land operations help renewing the means of accessing farmland. Estate strategies rely on setting up alternative farmland management styles at a local scale, whereas network strategies target land information flows. Building on a bundle of rights framework, the dissertation analyses how the demarcartion between property and use of the land evolves. Third, the power relationships governing the allocation of land are only incrementally modified, as the Safer and traditional farmers’ unions remain at the center. Beyond scarce cases of governance of the land-based coexistence of agricultural models, the dissertation build up a land justice frameworksuited to France.

It comprises his outlook on life, the way he handles all his financial affairs as well as the way he goes about minimizing his financial risks. The financial plan that the individual has to provide for his retirement, to take care of his dependants as well as the way that the assets he acquired during this lifetime, must be distributed after his death, also forms part of this personal financial management. The main purpose of the study is to determine the levels of personal financial management practiced by employees of NWK Limited, as well as to determine the need for guidance in this regard. The following aspects of personal financial management are researched in chapter 2. These aspects were used to determine to what extent personal financial management was performed by having the study population anonymously complete a customized questionnaire. The following aspects were applied: * Attitude towards money. * Management style with regards to money. * Time value of money. * The financial plan. * Investments. The results of the study confirmed that there is a definite need for guidance with regard to personal financial management, especially under the younger employees as well as the personnel in the lower job levels of the company.
