The role played by management's commitment, education and ethics on organisational entrepreneurship in Gauteng non-profit organisations

(Marketing Management and Information Systems))--University of the Witwatersrand, Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management, School of Economic and Business Sciences, 2015 / The objectives of the study were to explore the extent to which three management characteristics related to organisational entrepreneurship in not-for-profit organisations (NPOs) in Gauteng, as well as the relation between organisational entrepreneurship and the organisational performance. The research was based on a quantitative approach which involved a random sample of 257 NPO managers who responded via a self-administered questionnaire. The research instrument measured management’s commitment to their occupation, management’s continuous education and management ethics, as well as organisational entrepreneurship and organisational performance. Data analysis techniques comprised of structural equation modelling which focused on confirmatory factory analysis to confirm conceptual relations and path model analysis to determine the causal relations between each management characteristics with organisational entrepreneurship, and organisational entrepreneurship with organisational performance. Path analysis results returned significant at the 99% confidence level that management’s continuous education and management’s ethics had strong positive causal relations to organisational entrepreneurship, as well as the positive relation of organisational entrepreneurship with organisational performance. The research noted implications for NPO management teams, including the renovation of business model structures to incorporate continuous learning and constructive risk-taking in order to take advantage of the performance benefits derived from organisational entrepreneurship. The study also recommends further research into potential citizenship bodies for NPO management team to foster commitment to their occupation in the non-profit sector.

Cette thèse traite de la crise de gestion à l’hôpital à partir de son cadre théorique et de son contexte actuel. Nous suggérons quelques pistes pour quitter la stricte centration économique en accordant plus de place à une orientation éthique. En effet, nous considérons que l’hôpital, de nos jours, se focalise plus sur les performances économiques que sur sa mission sanitaire.Notre recherche développe de nouvelles tendances en gestion qui intègrent la théorie du care. A travers une étude qualitative nous décrivons et cherchons à comprendre différentes postures éthiques susceptibles de faire évoluer les outils de management pour l’actuel et futur système public hospitalier français. Nous intégrons dans notre recherche de nombreuses théories (leadership, management éthique, responsabilité sociétale et care). / This PhD deals with the management crisis in the hospital explaining the theoretical framework and current habits of this subject. We do suggest some ways to leave a strict economic orientation and we would like to let more insights to an ethics focus. The main consideration that we have to point out is that the mission of the hospital nowadays is not strictly oriented on health but much more on economic performance. Our research develops new trends in management with a deep focus on the theory of the “CARE”. Following a qualitative methodology, we describe and make understand different ethics mindsets of the boards of hospitals as the starting point of a re definition of management tools for the actual and the future of public system in France. We do integrate in our research many theories (leadership, managerial ethics, corporate social responsibility and care).

The topic of the Master's Thesis "Ethical aspects of crisis company communication" is crisis communication. It is aimed at theoretical knowledge, analysis of ethical failure in the crisis communication and the measure suggestion for company management in crisis communication planning and managing. The Master's Thesis is focused on two examples from the floods in August 2002. The floods in the Prague underground and in the chemical plant Spolana Neratovice became the symbol of the summer situation. The analysis has detected the importance of the ethical aspects of crisis communication. The breach of these principles or conscious violation of them could have not only personal but also economic and legal consequences.

The resultant findings that were arrived at pertinently indicate that labour- and managerial-ethical-guidance is obviously at present not being sufficiently achieved as a result of various de­structive influences from within the technocratic dispensation. On the contrary, the present-day manager's guidance-role has become so much more difficult and complicated and in many cases even impossible. This state of affairs also gives rise to the fact that the modern-day manager cannot always distinguish the difference between what is "right" and "wrong" regarding "ethical issues" in his daily life. Such an occurrence has particularly far-reaching implications for the protege's (subordinate's) adequate labour­ and managerial-ethical-adulthood, since the manager, in spite of his protege's agein-need for ethical-guidance, is incapable of setting an example of labour- and managerial-ethical-adulthood worthy of emulation. Labour- and managerial-ethical-adulthood could therefore only be attained by putting into practice the norm-image of labour- and managerial-ethical-adulthood. In organisational-context such implementation occurs through the establishment and institutionalisation of an ethical-culture with an ethical code of conduct as criteria for evaluating ethical and moral issues. La ética aplicada en el uso de la Big Data

La presente investigación se centra en exponer las diversas opiniones desarrolladas en torno a la ética y el uso de la Big Data, es decir, los macrodatos. Para ello, se ha realizado una indagación sistemática de fuentes publicadas en un marco temporal comprendido entre los años 2015-2020 con la intención de recuperar los acercamientos más recientes que se han centrado en la relación de estas dos variables. Se han planteado, principalmente, cuatro objetivos que organizan la estructura del trabajo. En un primer momento, se busca establecer un alcance de lo que se entiende por ética y cómo esta se relaciona con las empresas y los negocios a través del concepto de ética empresarial, con todo lo que implica. Luego de ello, se ha planteado la construcción de una definición de cómo se entiende la Big Data, su evolución y usos, además de los beneficios que puede proporcionar su presencia. Se continúa con la explicación de la imagen reputacional de las empresas y la aplicabilidad de las teorías éticas en el uso de los macrodatos. Las principales conclusiones que se desprenden de la investigación es que no hay un consenso hegemónico en la academia respecto al componente ético del uso de la Big Data. Mientras que para algunos no solo se orienta al plano práctico, sino también al prescriptivo, para otros el componente humano es determinante para medir sus implicancias sociales y organizacionales. En todo caso, se puede desligar que los autores coinciden en resaltar la importancia de estudiar y analizar el uso de esta información virtualizada por todas las implicancias que puede tener en diferentes niveles de la vida social y empresarial. / This paper pretends to place in perspective different points of view about the connection between ethic and Big Data use. In order to get to this goal, there has been made a systematic research of published papers on 2015-2020 with the intention to recover most recent approaches about the link of these two research variables. It has been proposed, mainly, four aims to organize this paper. Firstly, it seeks to stablish a scope about what implies Ethics as a concept and how this is related with enterprises or business affairs through the concept of business ethics, with all that it implies. Then, it has been set the Big Data definition as a problem, how it evolves in time, its uses, and the comment of several benefits that its presence can provide in both social and business organization. It is continued explaining the enterprise business image idea and how different ethical theories could be applied on Big Data use. As some authors are immersed to prove how Big Data use respond not only in a practical area but in a prescriptive way, other researchers find that the human factor is determinant to measure its social and organizational consequences. Nonetheless, it is possible to conclude that there is not a consensus about the better way to use or to manipulate people information, but authors concur about the importance of studying and analyzing this subject, because it contains a great impact in different levels of social and business life. / Trabajo de Suficiencia Profesional
