O segredo dos sentimentos sinceros: estudo da marginália de Mário de Andrade na poesia do romantismo brasileiro / The secret of sincere feelings: Mário de Andrade\'s marginalia on Brazilian romantic poetry

Marcelo Castro da Silva Maraninchi 27 January 2017 (has links)
This study consists of the transcription, classification and analysis of Mário de Andrade\'s marginalia (1893-1945) on Brazilian romantic poetry. The research has been focused on studying the notes made by the Brazilian modernist writer and critic on the books of Gonçalves Dias, Álvares de Azevedo, Casimiro de Abreu, Fagundes Varela and Castro Alves, all of which are part of his personal library kept in IEB-USP. Considered as paratexts, the notes relate to different projects - either finished or unfinished - of studying Brazilian Romanticism, as well as reveal sources for the poet and novelist. It is possible to affirm that Mário de Andrade\'s study of the \"five grand romantics\" is born in the marginalia, nourishes notes, sketches and plans in his archives - manuscripts Amor e medo, Castro Alves and Artigos por escrever - and turns into the published versions of his works - \"Álvares de Azevedo I e II\", \"Mosqueiro nº 2\", \"Álvares de Azevedo I, II e III\", \"Momento\", \"Amor e medo\" and \"Castro Alves\" - without exhausting the original material.

Mikalojaus Daukšos Postilės marginalijos / Marginalia in Mikalojus Daukša‘s Postilla

Jankauskas, Benas 20 June 2012 (has links)
Marginalia are one of the most interesting elements of the book not only in Postilla by Mikalojus Daukša, but also in books worldwide. Marginalijos Žibunto Mikšio Šiaulių universiteto bibliotekai dovanotose knygose / Marginalia in Žibuntas Mikšys Books Donated to Šiauliai University Library

Markulytė, Greta 29 July 2013 (has links)
Marginalia is an important and informative element of the book. Marginalia of the Geese Book: Inside and Outside the Borders

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: The early-16th-century manuscript commonly known as the Geese Book (New York, Morgan Library, M. 905) contains the entire Mass liturgy sung by the boys choir of the parish church of St. Lorenz in Nuremberg, Germany prior to the Reformation. This thesis addresses the location and function of the sometimes enigmatic marginalia and the decorated or historiated initials in this large two-volume gradual. The paper begins with an analytical case study of a scene within the margins in which a wild woman, wielding a club, confronts a female dragon who has taken a child. Subsequently the size, subject matter, and physical positioning of the illuminations and decorations within the book and on its pages are examined with respect to the gradual's liturgical contents. It is hoped that through such methods, new conversations may begin as to the roles that marginalia and decoration may play within the multiple organizational schemes within a musical text of this kind. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.A. Art History 2013

Between the Lines and in the Margins : Investigating the Attitudes of Library Staff at Swedish University Libraries Towards Marginalia in Library Books

Eliasson, Johanna January 2023 (has links)
This thesis explores the attitudes of Swedish university library staff towards marginalia in library books. The study aimed to investigate their experiences and opinions on the topic and any existing routines and guidelines regarding marginalia. Additionally, the study aimed to compare its findings to previous literature, which had made negative assumptions about how librarians feel about marginalia. Despite these assumptions, there has been no research to support them. The study used a mixed-method approach and collected data through a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis. Based on the results, it was found that library staff regularly come across marginalia in library books. While most staff members hold a negative view towards marginalia, there are varying opinions that differ from what previous literature suggests. Those with negative attitudes believe that marginalia ruins the book as an object and hinders future readers from reading autonomously. However, there are also positive attitudes towards marginalia, with some believing that it is a sign of the book being used and that the reader has benefited in some way. Overall, those with both negative and positive views understand marginalia as a byproduct of reading and studying and as a study technique. Current routines and guidelines do not provide much information about handling books with marginalia, with only a few mentioning it. Some library staff believe that explicit guidelines are necessary, while others consider marginalia an inevitable part of libraries and therefore do not require guidelines.
