Engelskt inflytande i svenska och koreanska : En jämförande attitydundersökningWoo, Hani January 2014 (has links)

Towards Real-Time CMA Equalization by using FFT for Signal Blocks transmitted over an Aeronautical channelTaiwo, Peter, Dossongui, Itie Serge Kone 11 1900 (has links)
We consider the problem of equalizing data blocks of signals, which have been transmitted over an
aeronautical channel using two different modulation schemes. The equalization is performed using the block-processing
constant modulus algorithm (CMA), and in order to achieve real-time processing a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used
to compute the gradient of this cost function during equalization. The equalizer length is chosen to be five times of the
channel length. For the first experiment, we present the result of equalizing a set of measured data, which was modulated
and transmitted using the iNET packet structure with SOQPSK modulation. In this case, the CMA equalizer is first
initialized using MMSE and the equalizer coefficients are then updated once, using each entire block (iNET packet). In
the second experiment, we apply the FFT-based block processing equalizer to received data blocks of QPSK signals,
which have been randomly generated and transmitted over an aeronautical channel. A modified constant modulus
algorithm and alphabet matched algorithm (CMA + AMA) equalizer is used to recover these data blocks. For this case of
QPSK signals, the equalizer performance is evaluated over 500 Monte Carlo runs, using the average symbol error rate
(SER).

Přizpůsobený filtr / Matched FilterDvořák, Petr January 2011 (has links)
The main objective of this work is to study methods of reducing BER and suggest possible resolution of matched filter. In the first part, the methods are theoretically analyzed and subsequently their function models are sugested in the computer programme Matlab Simulink. On these models, the behaviour for different input values is simulated and on their basis, the output depending on probability of the false income on SNR for each of models is worked out. In the second part, the design of the laboratory preparation with a view to the matched filter is described. This suggestion is divided into the parts which are subsequently described and outputs from the implementation of the suggested resolution are added. Thereinafter, the implementation of the proposed resolution and the results achieved at measurement of the realized produkt are closely described. This product is to be made for educational and laboratory purposes in terms of lessons The Theory of Communication.

A Matched Payout Model for Investment, Consumption, and Insurance with a Risky Annuity IncomeAdams, Joseph Allen 01 August 2019 (has links)
We introduce a new insurance instrument allowing retirees to hedge against risk of mortality and risk of default. At retirement, the retiree is allowed to purchase an annuity that provides a defaultable income stream over his lifetime. The time of mortality and time of default are both uncertain, but are accompanied by determined hazard rates. The retiree will make consumption and investment choices throughout his lifetime, which have certain restrictions: the retiree can never enter a bankruptcy state (negative total wealth), and the investment choices are made in a risk-free financial instrument (such as a treasury bill or bond) and a risky instrument (such as commodities or stock). The retiree also makes insurance premium payments which hedge against mortality and default risks simultaneously. This new form of insurance is one which can be implemented by financial institutions as a means for retirees to protect their illiquid assets. In doing so, we calculate the optimal annuity rate a retiree should purchase to maximize his utility of consumption and bequest.Throughout the paper, we develop stochastic control models for a retiree's optimal investment and consumption policies over an uncertain planning horizon in several models which may or may not allow for insurance purchases. We find exact solutions to several models, and apply dynamic programming and the logarithmic transformation to other models to find numerical solutions when constraints are needed. We also analyze the effects of loading on insurance, analyzing the effects of more expensive insurance on the retiree's control policies and value functions. In particular, we will consider the model in which the retiree can purchase life insurance and credit default insurance (in the form of a credit default swap, or CDS) separately to hedge against life events. CDS's do not exist for annuities, but we extend this model by incorporating life insurance and the CDS into a single entity, which can be a viable, and realistic, option to hedge against risk. This model is beneficial in providing a solution to the annuity problem by showing that minimal annuity purchase is optimal.

Adjusted Wald Confidence Interval for a Difference of Binomial Proportions Based on Paired DataBonett, Douglas G., Price, Robert M. 01 August 2012 (has links)
Adjusted Wald intervals for binomial proportions in one-sample and two-sample designs have been shown to perform about as well as the best available methods. The adjusted Wald intervals are easy to compute and have been incorporated into introductory statistics courses. An adjusted Wald interval for paired binomial proportions is proposed here and is shown to perform as well as the best available methods. A sample size planning formula is presented that should be useful in an introductory statistics course.

Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging Simulated in MATLABSchlutz, Matthew 01 June 2009 (has links)
This thesis further develops a method from ongoing thesis projects with the goal of generating images using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) simulations coded in MATLAB. The project is supervised by Dr. John Saghri and sponsored by Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. SAR is a type of imaging radar in which the relative movement of the antenna with respect to the target is utilized. Through the simultaneous processing of the radar reflections over the movement of the antenna via the range Doppler algorithm (RDA), the superior resolution of a theoretical wider antenna, termed synthetic aperture, is obtained. The long term goal of this ongoing project is to develop a simulation in which realistic SAR images can be generated and used for SAR Automatic Target Recognition (ATR). Current and past Master’s theses on ATR were restricted to a small data set of Man-portable Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar (MSTAR) images as most SAR images for military ATR are not released for public use. Also, with an in-house SAR image generation scheme the parameters of noise, target orientation, the elevation angle or look angle to the antenna from the target and other parameters can be directly controlled and modified to best serve ATR purposes or other applications such as three-dimensional SAR holography.
At the start of the project in September 2007, the SAR simulation from previous Master’s theses was capable of simulating and imaging point targets in a two dimensional plane with limited mobility. The focus on improvements to this simulation through the course of this project was to improve the SAR simulation for applications to more complex two-dimensional targets and simple three-dimensional targets, such as a cube. The input to the simulation uses a selected two-dimensional, grayscale target image and generates from the input a two-dimensional target profile of reflectivity over the azimuth and range based on the intensity of the pixels in the target image. For three-dimensional simulations, multiple two-dimensional azimuth/range profiles are imported at different altitudes. The output from both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional simulations is the SAR simulated and RDA processed image of the input target profile.
Future work on this ongoing project will include an algorithm to calculate line of sight limitations of point targets and processing optimization of the radar information generation implemented in the code so that more complex and realistic targets can be simulated and imaged using SAR for applications in ATR and 3D SAR holography.

Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Explosive Hazard Detection using Synthetic Aperture Acoustic and High Resolution Voxel RadarDowdy, Joshua L 04 May 2018 (has links)
Different signal processing techniques for synthetic aperture acoustic (SAA) and highresolution voxel radar (HRVR) sensing modalities for side-attack explosive ballistic (SAEB) detection are proposed in this thesis. The sensing modalities were vehicle mounted and the data used was collected at an army test site. More specifically, the use of a frequency azimuthal (fraz) feature for SAA and the fusion of a matched filter (MF) and size contrast filter (SCF) for HRVR was explored. For SAA, the focus was to find a signature in the target’s response that would vary as the vehicle’s view on the target changed. For the HRVR, the focus was put on finding objects that were both anomalous (SCF) and target-like (MF). The results in both cases are obtained using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and both are very encouraging.

Integrative Genomic Analyses of Patient-Matched Intracranial and Extracranial Metastases Reveal a Novel Brain-Specific Landscape of Genetic Variants in Driver Genes of Malignant MelanomaVáraljai, Renáta, Horn, Susanne, Sucker, Antje, Piercianek, Daniela, Schmitt, Verena, Carpinteiro, Alexander, Becker, Katrin Anne, Reifenberger, Julia, Roesch, Alexander, Felsberg, Jörg, Reifenberger, Guido, Sure, Ulrich, Schadendorf, Dirk, Helfrich, Iris 26 April 2023 (has links)
Background: Development of brain metastases in advanced melanoma patients is a frequent event that limits patients’ quality of life and survival. Despite recent insights into melanoma genetics, systematic analyses of genetic alterations in melanoma brain metastasis formation are lacking. Moreover, whether brain metastases harbor distinct genetic alterations beyond those observed at different anatomic sites of the same patient remains unknown. Experimental Design and Results: In our study, 54 intracranial and 18 corresponding extracranial melanoma metastases were analyzed for mutations using targeted next generation sequencing of 29 recurrently mutated driver genes in melanoma. In 11 of 16 paired samples, we detected nucleotide modifications in brain metastases that were absent in matched metastases at extracranial sites. Moreover, we identified novel genetic variants in ARID1A, ARID2, SMARCA4 and BAP1, genes that have not been linked to brain metastases before; albeit most frequent mutations were found in ARID1A, ARID2 and BRAF. Conclusion: Our data provide new insights into the genetic landscape of intracranial melanoma metastases supporting a branched evolution model of metastasis formation.

Side-attack explosive hazard detection in voxel-space radar using signal processing and convolutional neural networksBrockner, Blake 09 August 2019 (has links)
The development of a computer vision algorithm for use with 3D voxel space radar imagery is observed in this thesis. The goal is to detect explosive hazards present in 3D synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image data. The algorithm consists of three primary stages; a precreener to find areas of interest, clustering for labeling distinct areas, and a classifier. The performance between multiple prescreener methods are compared when using a heuristic classifier. Finally, a convolutional neural network (CNN) is used as a classifier stage and a comparison between a deep network, a shallow network, and human experts is conducted.
