This inquiry has the intention to answer the question: What is the influence of methodology that teacher uses to form the conceptions and attitude about Mathematic and how they can be reinforced or modified with this methodology? This research had as main objective: to investigate how the conceptions and attitude about Mathematic interfere in the process of learning Mathematic. To find solutions to the questionings, it was utilized a methodology with analysis of data of qualitative form and with applications of scales of attitudes had been analyzed quantitatively. It was realized a pedagogic intervention with the objective to modify the negative conceptions and attitudes showed and reforse the positive attitudes. This practice was developed with 36 (thirty six) students from 8th grade of a public school from a town called Três Coroas, Rio Grande do Sul state, and during this practice was developed quizzes, interviews and observations determining the believes and attitudes presents on its development. The practice was developed with activities that wound geometry, inquiries about the Mathematic history and activities involved the concept of functions. After the pedagogy practice application the students answered to the scales of attitudes again, checking if the intervention has modified the results of this scale (significant results got through of the Student‟s t-test).The results of the new application of the scale of attitudes had showed a significative change in attitudes present by students average in relation with the ones that they had in the beginning of this practice. The developed activities and its analysis as well, together with the results of scales, quizzes and interviews were organized into different categories, becoming possible a critical analysis about these believes and the attitudes showed by this group of students, verifying that changing the methodology can construct positives attitudes, and modify negative attitudes showing the teacher‟s practice can influence their upbringing.

January 2016 (has links)
Abstract: It is incontestable the importance of Euclidean geometry and the evolution of humanity and in consequence of the gap of students in relation to this content, this study, developed within the Mathematics Education, it began with the purpose of inserting the fractal Geometry in a basic education, so to facilitate the process of teaching and learning concepts of classical geometry, because the knowledge of fractal geometry allows us to observe and architect in the geometric sense. To support our search, with base in the works of authors who believe in the job in the classroom of fractal geometry, as a means of promoting effective geometric education, likewise, allows the development of critical and creative capacity of the student, as well as its aesthetic sense. Based on this hypothesis, with the research subjects, students in a high school from a state school in the state of São Paulo, two activities were implemented, the construction of the Sierpinski triangle fractal using ruler and compass and building of cards fractals, to work geometric concepts in context and diversified. It was found through a questionnaire diagnosis a low income compared to the concepts of Euclidean geometry, after the proposed activities was possible to find a significant improvement in the indices obtained. So with regard to the results, it can be find that the fractal geometry can provide satisfactory results when applied to mathematics education, as it can be used not only as a stimulus for the student to interest for this school subject, but also as part facilitator of learning / Mestre

It has contemplated the study of the interdisciplinary methodology entitled Interdisciplinary Island of Rationality, by Gérard Fourez (1997), focusing the study of the conception of Arithmetical Progression and Geometric Progression. The inquiry about qualitative-quantitative nature has tried to understand whether the methodology of the Interdisciplinary Island of Rationality can contribute to the subject’s autonomy construction process in a high school. The research process, as a case study, was conducted in a group of forty students attending the second degree of the high school. The following instruments were administered: daily routine of the students, daily of the investigator, some recorded speeches and a final questionnaire. Data was collected and, after, analyzed. The accompaniment of the students’ evolution in each stage of the methodology has allowed establishing some autonomy pointers. In each group of pointers, behaviors were mapped and degrees of intensity were attributed. The amount of the intensity degrees has originated the index of interaction in each group of de autonomy pointers. The observed behaviors were compared with the autonomy pointer, generating four categories: organization and planning, negotiation, flexibility and communication which were interpreted by means of Discoursive Textual Analysis. The analysis of the process permits to assert that the methodological stages contemplated the principles of this research related to stages of questioning elaboration, argument formularizations and the communication of the results. The planning of the activities, debate, own elaboration, written and oral communication experienced by students suggest that the methodology of the Interdisciplinary Island of Racionality in Mathematics teaching contributes to the advance of students’ autonomy, as they consider themselves cooperatively responsible, reorganizing and elaborating meanings by means of the reflection, dialogue and their own constructions.

The main objective of our study was to analyze the relationship between the math taught in school and that which is commonly used by workers in various professions which do not depend on formal schooling. With this in mind, the subjects of Measurements and Proportions were selected, since these are the most commonly used in our daily activities. We recorded ali of the lessons of a 5th grade class in which was taught the subject of Measurements, as well as those of the 6th grade in which were taught Logic and Proportion. At the same time, we observed each of the following during one work day: a seamstress, a businessman, a cook, a carpenter, a construction foreman and a pottery maker. Throughout the day, it was attempted to identify specific items dealt with, and how these were handled by these professionals. We also interview the two teachers, twenty percent of their students and the other six workers, seeking to catch their views concerning the school and its teaching of math. We then compared the two investigations, noting that the items and strategies most often used by the workers are not covered in the math classes. There was found to be a great divorce between the "what" and the "how" of math teaching in the school; between the "what" and the "how" of the usage of this discipline in the daily life of the common worker. We propose that the teaching of mathematics be brought closer to the subjects in day-to-day life. With this in mind, alternate methodologies should be utilized which are related to Ethno mathematics, such a modeling and problem solving, which will encourage the student's involvement, as be becomes the subject of his education / Doutorado / Metodologia de Ensino / Doutor em Educação

Sampaio, Ricardo. January 2018 (has links)
The systems of linear equations are very useful because they can mathematically model several problems in Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Administration, Economics, and finally, in various areas of knowledge. Historically, the computation of solutions of this type of system by the Chinese motivated the emergence of matrices, which, roughly speaking, are tables of elements distributed in rows and columns. The use of matrices facilitates the study and the resolution of linear systems because they simplify the notation and standardize the procedures. The Echelonment method, for example, is a technique that can always be used in linear systems in general, besides being easily automated due to its algorithm. The objective of this work is to present some concepts and results about matrices and linear systems and to approach the relation between them, besides proposing some problems that can be solved using these results. High school teachers may use such problems in the classroom to work on this subject with their students / Mestre

Rosseto, Cintia Kohori. January 2018 (has links)
Apresentaremos alguns modelos de atividades que abordam o tema criptografia e poderão ser aplicados no Ensino Fundamental e no Ensino Médio / Abstract: Encryption has the basic purpose of transmitting a message to a recipient without anyone else being able to know its contents, so that this occurs using the mathematical resources as a tool. The concern with privacy and security is very old, over time many codes have been used and used mainly to protect military secrets. With the advent of electronic communication, many essential activities depend on secrecy in the exchange of messages, especially those involving financial transactions and safe use of the internet. The present work treats Cryptography as a teaching tool in Mathematics classes, considering that the teaching of mathematics is increasingly compromised, mainly due to the lack of interest of the students and the large gap with which they arrive in Elementary School II. In view of this, we propose the use of themes that bring meaning to learning and captivate the student. The cryptography can be approached in several contents of Elementary and Middle School, like functions and matrices, subjects approached in the present work. We intend, with the use of Cryptography in the teaching of mathematical contents, to provide meaning practice to the content studied so that learning becomes meaningful for the student. We will present some models of activities that approach the subject of encryption and database is not Elementary and High School / Mestre

Ramiro, Leandro. January 2014 (has links)
This work has as an objective to discuss the importance of demonstrations in teaching basic mathematics. There has been a long time that this topic is highlighted in the guiding documents of basic education (PCN and Official Curriculum), but in practice we have not found materials or activities that effectively guide teachers on how to implement logicaldeductive argumentation in the classroom. Concomitantly we found in Mathematics classes passivity on the part of most students in tackling the problems that are offered to them, in this way, based on the Theory of Didactic Situations as formulated by Guy Brouseau, and exploring the technological resources available at schools we propose activities that can be used in classrooms related to the geometry to be developed using the GeoGebra software. The activities are intended to bring the student to interact in an autonomous way with the concepts and properties involved and enable them in the development of conjectures and arguments on observed facts and check the results by means of dynamic movements that the software allows. We present a review of contents linked to movements in the plan: congruences, isometries, similarities and homotheties, necessary to the understanding of the proposed topic. Finally, we conducted an interview with a group of four school teachers in order to know their opinion about the proposed activities, their relationship with the new technologies and their interest in continued education / Mestre

January 2016 (has links)
This paper presents a learning teaching proposal to introduce the concept of simple combinations, through a didactic sequence using problem solving as a methodological way, applied in a 2nd year of high school. This is a didactic sequence in which problems are an increasing degree of difficulty. We presented before a brief introduction with historical concepts, using problems as a methodological way, another problem situation and a quick review of Combinatorial Analysis of content studied during high school to organize and situate our work. As already appears in the Student Notebook, provided by the Secretaria do Estado de São Paulo, we propose the use of didactic sequence in the classroom through the use of Problem-Solving Methodology, in which the student must reach the mathematical concept through their discoveries. We apply in the classroom the Didactic Sequence mentioned here, the students divided into groups, where it was presented issue by issue, among them always reaped the results and discussed in plenary, so that it was possible to identify the successes and turn mistakes into learning. Besides working Combinatorial Analysis, which is already a subject that brings some difficulties for teachers and students, the main skill required for Problem-Solving is also worked, the reading and the interpretation, because each problem was read and interpreted by each group, bringing the discussions and exchanges of experience among the groups, which before, the teacher was the one who only mediated the discussions and systematized the results. We hope our work will serve to demystify the concept and bring new practices that can be adjusted to our classrooms / Mestre

January 2018 (has links)
Through the curricular changes, many topics addressed in elementary and secondary education have been restructured within a set of parameters for the curriculum organization of the common national base, the PCNs, that normalize the base of the teaching and guide that the mathematics must be presented for the development of inherent abilities to solve problems, acquisition of symbolic language, modeling and interpretation of everyday situations, argumentation and application in real life situations. Thus, this work was developed with the purpose of providing support for the teaching of topology in basic education, through the compilation of historical facts, formalization of basic de nitions of introductory character such as continuity, metric spaces, topological spaces, among others, presentation of activities which can be worked together with the teaching geometry, which in a playful and intuitive way, will help to lay the foundation for a future deepening of these concepts, aiding in the development of topological thinking / Mestre
