Composition, properties and surface structure of tribochemically deposited coatings / Sammansättning, egenskaper och ytstruktur hos tribokemiskt deponerade beläggningar

Åkerlund, Eva-Brita January 2011 (has links)
Five tribochemically deposited coatings on honed cast iron cylinder liner segments has been studied with respect to surface properties, material composition, coating thickness, hardness and friction. Methods like Light Optical Microscopy (LOM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), 3D topography using white light interferometry (VSI) and Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA) were used to study the surface, coating thickness and material composition. Lubrication regimes (friction) were studied using a test set-up in a Lathe. An in-situ scratcher and nano indenter were used to study the hardness. It was found that the honing plateau surface is smoothened by the coating process while the honing scratches are kept more or less intact. The deposited coating thickness is approximately 10-100 nm. The coating is softer than the substrate and shows a butter-like behavior when scratched. Using only sulfur additive in the process fluid gives a smooth surface and an evenly distributed coating. Tungsten additive in the process fluid gives a thicker coating but a more irregular material distribution. Tungsten additive in the process fluid does not seem to stimulate the formation of WS2, but rather WO3 is formed.

Effectiveness of Acoustic Design in Public Spaces

Jirgens, Jana V 01 January 2023 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, a discussion on the effectiveness of acoustic design in public spaces is made. The auditory properties of a location have noteworthy implications on the success of a building's design and how a room is perceived. Depending on the requirements of each location, either a reverberant or sound-absorbing approach is best suited for the environment. Moreover, public health is negatively affected by long-term involuntary noise exposure. Because of this, there is an obvious demand for continued and expanded study in acoustic design. This thesis aims to challenge interior design choices made in four testing locations: a classroom, a musical practice room, an ambient performance space, and an office. Reverberation time is tested at each site using both a Digital Sound Level Meter application (Decibel X) and a 732A Digital Sound Level Meter paired with a series of external source sounds at set testing frequencies. Depending on the results of each trial, an evaluation of possible improvements to each location's aural properties is made.

TILLITSDISKURSEN I LÄROMEDLEN: : En tematisk läromedelsanalys i samhällskunskap

Fryksten, Olle January 2023 (has links)
When measuring people’s trust, research show a negative trend where people’s trust over time is declining globally, where digitalization is accelerating the process. Trust is a key component in a democratic society and social studies has the task of communicating democratic values and integrate the students in the democratic process. The aim of the present study was therefore to examine how different aspects of the concept “Trust” are highlighted and portrayed within different fields of knowledge in textbooks for social studies in upper secondary school. Three aspects of trust was analyzed; social capital and trust in one’s surroundings; trust in the political system and its institutions; how the economic system influence people’s trust. The concept of trust was examined through a thematic analysis, with discourse analytical elements that calculated frequencies of latent and semantic value words. The analysis indicate that both textbooks contain a frequent space for discourses of trust, where social trust is highlighted. Furthermore the results showed a big difference between latent reasoning about trust and direct semantic reasoning about trust. When examining study questions and tasks similar results were found, where Arena 123 had the most latent codes in the answer options, while Perspektiv på samhället had the most direct trust frequencies.

Seger, Albin January 2022 (has links)
Swedish mathematics education is heavily dependent on the content of the teaching materials. As a teacher it is easy to assume that teaching material developers are basing the content on The National Agency for Educations provisions regarding what students are expected to learn. Research suggests that tasks in the teaching materials rarely supports students with the need to reason mathematically. This study focuses on tasks indicated to be “easier” in eight books that were analysed by their ability to support the student’s ability to reason. 1350 tasks were analysed and approximately 12 percent met the criteria required based on a research framework by Johan Lithner. The result suggests that students that tend to mostly work on the easier tasks in the materials doesn’t get very good opportunities to further improve their ability to reason mathematically and thus, to a degree might not work with what is decided by the curriculum.

Dálkově řízená laserová spektroskopie (LIBS) / Remote Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS)

Novotný, Jan January 2012 (has links)
The dissertation thesis deals with the development of the Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) setup in the modification for the mobile remote material analysis (so called rLIBS). The experimental device is developed at the Institute of Physical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME), Brno University of Technology (BUT). Such a modification is possible due to the core principles of LIBS technique, i.e. using a laser for a sample excitation and plasma radiation for spectral analysis. The thesis is focused on the variation called Stand-Off LIBS with the target analyte in the distance of 6 meters. In this case the laser pulse and the plasma radiation are transmitted through the local environment (usually the air) and the direct device-to-sample visibility is expected. The motivation for this development is to avoid traditional processes of sample collection, preparation and transport that are time-consuming, expensive and sometimes even hard to realize. Stand-Off LIBS allows bringing all the LIBS technique benefits from the laboratory to the field, where fast, in-situ analysis can be carried out. The first part of the thesis focuses on the history and principles of the Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (AES), as it is the main principle of LIBS technique. The second part describes the history, theory, instrumentation and applications of LIBS as a modern analytical tool. This part also introduces the remote mobile modification – rLIBS, as well as the current state of knowledge and the state of the development in LIBS laboratories worldwide. The third part describes the individual stages of the rLIBS development at the Institute of Physical Engineering, FME BUT. This chapter details the focusing optics design, building of the collection optics, design and construction of the detection unit, motorized stage and mobile track. This section contains also the results of the test spectroscopy measurements and movement ability measurements.

Análise de materiais e propostas de cursos para o ensino do italiano jurídico / Analysis of materials and courses used to teach legal Italian

Mastelaro, Quézea Regina Albolea 04 April 2014 (has links)
This dissertation aims at analyzing the methodology applied to teaching Italian for specific purposes, focusing on the technical language used in the legal setting. To reach this goal, we first analyzed educational materials used to teach legal Italian in Brazil which are targeted at adults with basic language skills who want to enhance those skills due to personal, academic or professional needs. We also prepared and taught Italian classes to three distinct groups: a group of students whose profile matched the target audience for those educational materials and two groups of beginners. Our goal was to show that, if beginners have a legal background, they can develop the specific legal vocabulary at the same time as they learn/acquire the basic structures of the Italian language. In our classes, we also used one of the Legal Italian teaching manuals and a book used to teach students in general. However, we did not restrict ourselves to the use of these materials, but rather prepared and used new activities in the classes. These Italian courses were assessed by students through surveys. Based on the analysis of the materials used in classes as well as the activities proposed, we reached some conclusions as to the approach to be used in teaching legal Italian courses.

Läsförståelse i läromedel : En läromedelsanalys med fokus på läsförståelsestrategier / Reading comprehension in teaching materials : A teaching material analysis focusing on reading comprehension strategies

Svensson, Sofia January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate how reading comprehension is dealt with in three teaching materials in Swedish for grade two. Based on the aim, three research questions were formulated: What different reading comprehension strategies occur in the students' workbook? What knowledge requirements correspond to the workbook's tasks that are linked to reading comprehension strategies? How is the teacher's role and way of working described in the teacher's guide linked to the work on reading comprehension strategies? The study carried out a content analysis of the teaching materials. The study assumes from a socio-cultural perspective on learning, which means that learning is seen as social and situated where the language is an important tool for developing knowledge. This perspective has been used in the analysis with a focus on how the teaching is described in the teaching materials. The result shows that in two of the teaching materials most of the reading comprehension strategies from current research was included. Assignments also existed that trained all parts of the knowledge requirement for grade three in Swedish connected to reading comprehension (Skolverket, 2018). In one teaching material, one strategy and one part of the knowledge requirement were over-represented in the workbook. The teacher’s role was basically similarly described in all teaching materials. The conclusion is that no teaching material is complete, and that teaching materials analysis is needed, to know what the teaching needs to be supplemented with.
